Tucked into a corner on the bottom floor of an office building, this petite coffeehouse was a welcome find for a caffeine-deprived conference-goer who didn’t want to tramp through rainy 30-degree weather up to Starbucks yet again. The conference was at a nearby hotel, a brisk walk across a courtyard from Crazy Mocha, and as always seems to be the case at conferences, the hot water containers were having a lot of trouble staying full for the tea drinkers. Or maybe copyeditors are particularly likely to drink tea. Or particularly likely to be thirsty. In any case, I was getting used to pressing down on the pump and hearing«Pbbbbt… pbbbbt»(the snarky side of my brain replied, «You had one job!»). By afternoon, coffee was no longer an option either. To beat the mid-afternoon slump and stay alert for more debates over the serial comma(just kidding. a little.), I ventured out of the hotel, Unilocal app in hand, to search for the nearest cup of warm-and-stimulating. I’d already been up the hill to the Sbucks in Market Plaza. I’d already stocked up on fancy dry tea leaves from Nicholas. Now all I needed was hot and close, and Crazy Mocha fit the bill. It was more than just convenient, though. It was cute. And the«Free Wifi» sign made me file it into the«remember this place» slot even though I probably won’t be in Pittsburgh, let alone that particular corner of it, any time soon, and won’t necessarily need wifi if I am. Service was fast and friendly. Locally baked pastries were next to the register.

A solid four stars! Let’s be clear. I drink black coffee, either a drip or americano. Nothing gets between me and my caffeine! So, this four stars is based on an excellent house coffee, I think it was from Honduras. I also had a blueberry crumb cake that was out of this world. I didn’t think a crumb cake could be that good! Highly recommended.

This was a nice little stop downtown while we were doing out rounds at the arts festival. Was not busy at all, and we were able to get in and out quickly. The staff were polite and had our drinks made in no time flat. It was that quick that I wasn’t able to notice anything else about this place except that it had outdoor seating, that’s how quickly they work here.

This is a very cool location for a coffee shop: right in PPG Place. It was a perfect stop for my family and I in between our Holiday adventure to see the decorations. They have a large variety of sweets including cookies and biscotti and a friendly staff who is willing to help you choose you sugar future. They were, however, out of their flavor and did not have any brewed when we were there. Very sad I know, but the Red Velvet biscotti made up for it.

They have some of the best blended coffee. I work above this place so I pass it every morning and there is always a line. The girl in the morning is great! Super nice and always does a great job with my peanut butter chocolate coffee.
