This was the perfect way to cap off a great day of traversing the city. I knew it was a candy shop but really came her for the ice cream. Just so everyone knows, they do not make their own ice cream here, instead they serve Hershey’s brand ice cream. Which is pretty awesome when you are craving some chocolate chip ice cream. I actually got the bigger size, which ended up being four scoops of ice cream. I got two of the chocolate chip and two of the cookies and cream. When I think about it now, I should have just stuck to two scoops. Four was more than enough for me as they were pretty giant scoops. The worker behind the counter had a great attitude and was pleasant to interact with. Credit cards are accepted but you do have to spend a minimum to use one. I cannot remember what the minimum is, but I can tell you that a large sized bowl of ice cream gets you to that amount.

I was in the mood for a shake and got 4 scoops of Hershey’s creamy deliciousness(2 of salted caramel, 2 of vanilla) perfectly blended in a cup. The shopkeep was very helpful and friendly. The selection of gourmet chocolates was tempting too!

Went here to top off the sandwich in Primanti’s. Two scoops of their cappuccino and chocolate ice cream was pretty tasty and filling. Most major cities have a market square where they have an ice cream store and the quality is really good but nothing out of one’s mind. Still, a quality ice cream that rivals any of the major dessert chains.

The gentleman that waited on me was perfect. He was helpful and kind. The chocolate is good and the hot chocolate is even better. Not sure who others talked with but my experience was excellent.

My wife and I were there in August and stopped by to browse some candy and pick up a bottled water. When we got to the counter, my wife presented a credit card for payment and the cashier snapped it from her and was incredibly rude. We were both kind of blown away. We asked why he seemingly was so upset he instantly accused my wife of stealing a bottled water! Had he looked he would have noticed that my slender, educated, and professionally dressed spouse had a tiny purse and nowhere possible to have hidden the water bottle. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

Note: It’s in what’s called«The Freight House» if you care. So we’re lost in Station Square after finally finding the restrooms. Well, I have a sweet tooth, and he was especially pushy today. Luckily we chanced upon Carol’s Confections after wandering around for ten minutes. This is like a scaled down version of Sarris in Canonsburg in that they sell candy and ice cream, including that unholy good Sarrriissssss candy itself. I almost got some fudge, but it was a bit pricey, so I got a one-scoop hot fudge sundae. They use Hershey’s brand ice cream which I’ve always found to be average. I know it’s a bit of work, but I prefer ice cream parlors to make their own ice cream on the premises or at least make their own elsewhere and bring it in. The same holds true with the toppings. I chose a flavor of ice cream I think was called Caramel Cheesecake Cookie Monster. It could have been better but did manage to soothe my sugar jones for the day. So 3 stars it gets.
