If I can give this place a negative 1,000 I would. I came here with a party of five. Two adults three children. There was no one sitting outside(very small outside area) which consists of two very small round tables large enough for 3 small chairs each. There was live music playing right outside the restaurant So we sat outside. My 3 kids had a banana and pb&j in their hands while mom and dad were ordering. Starting off we asked for water for the kids. The waitress made a horrible frown and responded with I’m going to have to charge you for the kids cups. Still I was not going to react to her horrible facial expressions and was ok for paying their cup fee. My two year old got out of his seat in the very small outside patio area where we were sitting and the five of us took up the entire outside space so there was no room for any other customers to eat where we were. Long story short the manager came out to the patio to very rudely tell us her«two daughters have to clean the windows and put your son in a seat» she proceeded to say that’s what other parents do. First of all the manager or waitress has no customer service what so ever or maybe their attitude was towards us only because… they have serious issues… not sure. Second if you run a business you should expect a two year old to touch a few windows or more. He was in no harm and was not blocking a door. Third how dare she tell parents how to parent with her mannerism that is nonexistent. My two year old son was innocently looking through the window in a calm charming manner with his hands up on the glass! Wow he is a kid big deal and he wasn’t bothering anyone but the freakishly rude owner/manager. This is unfortunate that owners do not have enough patience for children or their possible customers. I will never come back to this place in fact I never completed my order before we got ambushed with negative and aggressive management and I do not recommend this place to anyone with their bad customer service, lack of interpersonal skills, and not so good menu.

I went here for breakfast on my birthday this year. I was fighting off a massive hangover, had no ability to handle anything relating to cooking and needed something filling, relaxed and good. And coffee. Of course coffee. This place delivered on all counts. Fantastic comfort food and some delicious biscuits didn’t quite relieve a hangover, but they sure helped. The staff have the charm of a greasy spoon(and the interior seems a lot nicer than a cheap diner), but they felt almost like a caricature of roadside diners everywhere. I love it. The food may also have been better due to circumstances(everything tastes good when the back of your throat is covered in last night’s whiskey). I may have gotten there early before the sunday brunch crowd rolled in, but it was perfect. Towards the end, I started seeing people bringing their children for brunch, and I was keen to get out before that happened. I won’t wait for another birthday to check it out again.

If I could give –1, I would. Worst meal in a long time and expensive. Staff rude and stupid. Say they are open til 2. Locked doors before1:30. Hope the owner reads this and takes charge. Sad for Nana’s namesake. Two thumbs down.

Food is decent, sometimes really good, other times just okay. As I read all the other reviews I’m astounded at the inconsistency in regards to the customer service. We ate there this weekend, food was pretty good but the service simply sucks! The waitress is slow, seems unhappy to be there and not a smile or any cheerfulness to be found. The owner seems to talk and chit chat with the«regulars» only, for us non-regulars we don’t even get a smile or a «thanks for coming»! She is not friendly at all and has a sour look on her face! I really hope the owner reads her reviews since the food is decent, the ambiance is inviting and it is a great location. Bad service can easily be corrected. We will visit again for the food not the service.

My most recent time here I went with the french dip sandwich. The bread was super soft, and the au jus was very tasty. It came with another mountain of fries. Service was nice and very quick! Prices are really good, too.

This place is not a 4-star establishment INANYWAY… And it’s, frankly, become very annoying to trust Unilocal reviews so much that I have high expectations of highly rated restaurants. Who is responsible for this??? Some people should not be allowed to Unilocal, haha! We wanted breakfast at home, but had only 1 egg left, aarrgg! For some time now I’d had this place bookmarked to try, so we called in an order for pick up. Without looking at a menu(since there isn’t one posted online), we ordered some items pictured in Unilocal reviews… (1) the all meat scramble, which was HUGE! And just so happened to be our hungry tummies’ saving grace– it was large enough to feed two. It included eggs, potatoes, tons of sausage, ham, bacon, and I don’t even know what other meats! Tasted decent, just needed some salt /seasoning. The meal also included bread & a bowl of fruit, which was WHACK! Some watermelon cubes with a couple soggy slices of strawberry. (2) the vegetarian eggs benedict which had tomato, spinach, and avacado, as well as side of good looking, but utterly tasteless country potatoes. Again, some salt would have done wonders! The eggs were properly poached; the hollandaise was bland & tasted canned. Uumm, first off, I opened the box(at home, of course) to find brown, discolored, rotting avacado on top! This is the work of a lazy, inconsiderate person… knowing they couldn’t get away with serving that garbage to someone eating inside the restaurant, instead they decided to serve it in a TO-GO order. Real cute. Obviously, had I opened the box before paying, I would have refused the entire order. Then I would have been on Unilocal giving them 1-star for trying to pull some BS like that. So here ya go… ONESTAR! Bookmark removed. We will not be going back.

Great breakfast looking over the marina. We had a party of 4 and everyone ordered something different. We all enjoyed our meals and the service was just fine. Definitely will return.

I am a Black woman who loves a good meal, good people and good conversation. I have been coming to Nana’s for the past three years. The owner Sheri is a jem to chat with. My breakfast favorites are the french toast and the Nana’s Skillet. I sat n watched make a healthy hearty salad. Can’t wait to be able to get their for lunch. They are now open on Mondays. So go get your fix. Mary & Tony

This is my new diner. I was inclined to fall in love with Nana’s right from the beginning since they are less than five minutes away from me, which is perfect since they close at two and I am not a morning person at all. The gorgeous views and the sea breeze closed the deal, even before I tried their food. So the location made me an immediate fan. But those qualities are not nearly enough to try and convince you, dear reader, that you should give your custom to Nana’s. Let us talk about the food, the service, and the price now, shall we? They do not fuss with the aesthetic of your food(i.e. They don’t bother with the plating such as they do in your fancy brunch place), but the food is good and plentiful. We ordered the kid’s bacon breakfast and Nana’s skillet. Our waitress told us that that kid’s breakfast only comes with one egg, two pieces of bacon, a slice of toast, and country potatoes. The daughter was not happy that it sounded so measly but I know that I will share my food with her, anyway, since I only had a small hunger. Nana’s skillet was humongous and a must-have for meat lovers out there(all meats are pork, which made me happy, but if you do not eat pork, keep that in mind). I felt a little like Adam Richman, but the food most definitely won despite a whole lot of help from the eternally hungry daughter. We still had leftovers to take home! With our two orders, two glasses of orange juice, coffee, and tip, our bill came up to less than $ 25! Less than $ 25 with friendly service and marina dining! You bet your bottom dollar that we will be back, sooner rather than later.

Decided to check this this place out for breakfast with my family despite reading the mixed reviews. With a diner feel and friendly service, we all left satisfied with our meals. Would definitely go back again real soon!

We came here on a whim as we needed breakfast, having slight reservations about the place because of the mixed reviews. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. It’s got the diner feel to it so the food was much bigger than regular breakfast places. Delicious tasting and my siblings and I were happy with our orders. If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely try it another time.

We were so pleasantly surprised by this place. I always take poor reviews into consideration, even if the overall raking is pretty good. As we walked in, we were greeted right away and offered a seat. We opted to sit out front to enjoy the gorgeous waterfront view. We were very happy to see that they are dog friendly on the front patio. We will be bringing our dog next time. Our waitress came out to take or drink order right away. She didn’t neglect us once. I ordered the french toast and my husband ordered the corned beef hash and a short stack. Both our dishes were fresh, beautiful, and delish. There was a lady at the table next to me who ordered this huge salad with chicken and fresh berries. I can’t wait to come back and order that salad. The lady said it was divine. We took our time and enjoyed our meal. We didn’t feel rushed at all. On our way to our car, a lady who we later found out was the owner Sherri came out to chat with us. She was very sweet and we can’t wait to make this place one of our regular spots.

Adam M. next time you leave a bad review, make sure you get the facts right. Nana’s place doesn’t serve rib eye steaks. As for the owner being racist, LMAO. For your information shes married to a black man. As for her being combative, did you ever stop to think that maybe she was having a bad day. It does happen to the best of us. your so quick to think she had a problem with just your table, I’m sure you have had a bad day at work once or twice? I really enjoy the food there. I’m a regular there. I enjoy the company and the food. Adam why don’t you come back with an open mind and try Nana’s place again.

Decided to give this place a second try and realized my dislike of their food was right the first time. It was so oily I couldn’t even eat it and their staff was not the friendliest.

Two stars for location and the great patio. Definitely need a sign saying seat yourself because no one acknowledged us until we sat down. Service was incredibly rushed and not friendly. Food was awful.(Thanks for asking). I had the French dip with fries. Fries were fairly burnt. The grocery store hoagie bun was very thin and fell apart. Meat wasn’t warm enough to melt the cheese I asked for. Sigh why am I still hungry? Let me down Unilocal

Lovely outdoor seating and view of the marina. Breakfast was good but not huge. Mr. S ordered a waffle, eggs and bacon and was a bit disappointed when only half a waffle was served(2 squares). For me the serving size of just regular ol’ bacon and eggs was just right. In fact I had more potatoes than I could eat so that helped soothe Mr. S. Service was good and big plus = dog friendly on the patio.

This place is really cute, and definitely has that hometown diner feel. It’s right along the marina, so it’s really nice to sit outside. As for the food, it was okay… a bit on the oily side. The service, however, was really friendly and always checking up on us. The only reason why I gave it 3-stars is because it really didn’t have a WOW factor for me. I would come here if I didn’t have anywhere else to go. so it was meehhh

Oh you Pittsburg, you have limited local breakfast options. Chose this place for its nice location It was still early morning so we sat outside before it gets warmer… view is nice. Service was attentive. Food, eh. Had the fried steak and it tasted well not fresh. Potatoes are good. Hubby liked his food which I don’t remember what it was.

Encouraged by the reviews, we visited Nana’s near Pittsburg’s renovated business district for the first time and found it to be very clean and upscale. Parking was convenient, signage was clear, and the marina view delightful. We brought our small dog so that we could enjoy our meal with her on leash in the outside dining area. Beverage orders were taken and delivered promptly. We ordered pastrami Reuben and potato salad(husband) and quarter-pounder hamburger and fries(me). Our pup was offered a bit of bacon and ham on the house. Within 10 minutes our orders arrived. My husband’s pastrami was excellent and a generous size. He is a picky eater, but loved his side of potato salad. My char-broiled burger was juicy, yummy, and very generous in size(loved the leftover’s the next day). I would not call this diner food at all — it was better than most comparable restaurant meals. We really enjoyed the view of the marina, the service, and the relaxed atmospher. With gratuities, we paid about $ 20 for our two meals and sodas. We finished our meal with a stroll through the small dog-friendly park at the end of the parking lot. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back.
