The best Middle Eastern food in Pittsburg, Kansas. That being said, the food is quite ordinary. I’m sure the falafel is made from a mix and it doesn’t really have much flavor. The same can be said for the other staple, like the hummus and babaganouj. The biggest problem is the service. The people are nice enough, but if they ever get busy, the service really slows down. They work with a minimal set up in the kitchen, which explains a lot. When you serve a number of fried foods, and you only have a small two basket deep fryer, you are going to get behind. During the lunch hour, I had to wait 45 minutes for a falafel sandwich, and this is all I ordered. I know I wasn’t the only person there, but the turnaround on a falafel sandwich to go should be 10 minutes max.

A very good greek restaurant that has it all. Delicious chicken shawarma, even more delicious fries, decent prices, very good service. The vegetarian options are also to try, they have falafels, a vegetarian platter and the traditiona hummus.

Jo’s is so good. Their food is delicious and the people are so nice. It’s my go to whenever I’m in town.

After I graduate from Pitt State and leave Pittsburg, this place will be what I miss most. The gyros are by far the best I’ve ever had, always fresh and full of meat. The fries are great and the pita and hummus is the best I’ve had. I’ve never seen any of the problems like posted in the review below, and I eat here at least twice a week. The staff is very friendly and helpful, great people. Awesome food! And burgers or chicken strips for non Greek lovers.

This has become my go-to restaurant whenever I’m in Pittsburg. I have never seen any of the alleged problems of the reviewer below, and I have yet to find a Greek restaurant in this area that comes close to the quality of the food here. Everything is made from scratch, and they usually have an item or two that will only be available for a week or so, like lentil soup or baklava. Most meals include fries and a drink for around $ 7, but for a little more you can get a different side like pita and fresh-made hummus or stuffed grape leaves, both of which are worth the extra money. Bringing someone who doesn’t like Greek? They do burgers, too.

As a gyro lover who recently lost two of the best spots in my nearby town, I had to make a beeline to Jo’s Gyros on my recent trip to Pittsburg. My husband is pescetarian and was really looking forward to the falafel, but they were out of it. Not to fear, the super friendly guy at the counter hooked him up with the most fantastic stuffed grape leaves and a huge plate of delicious fries. We shared fresh hummus with pita triangles and then I enjoyed my gyro. They have a lot of topping and sauce choices, but I went with the traditional Tzatziki cucumber sauce. While it was not the absolute best gyro I’ve ever eaten, it was darn close and at this price point it was MILES ahead of typical gyros found for similar prices in mall food courts. All of their food smelled and tasted delicious. This is a very laid back little spot, nothing fancy, and I liked that a lot. Plenty of affordable options for college students and right across the street from PSU. Also, I know from facebook this place has a lot of limited time specials like free soup, dollar off, etc. Very cool indeed. I already find myself thinking of future reasons to visit Pittsburg and have the chicken shawarma and some babaganoush.
