I’m new to orchids and wasn’t sure whether to even try to maintain them. The Orchid Gallery has been a great option. They’ve brought my four orchids into bloom twice and that means I’ve enjoyed and re-enjoyed their beauty, always amazed at how pretty they are when I get them home. Their greenhouse is gorgeous; well worth the trip to Pittsboro when I’m not picking up my orchid at Whole Foods.

Update: I wanted to let one of my bloomed orchids drop it’s flowers naturally before I repotted it. I did that recently — and here’s what I found: Because it has never been tended to, or repotted in 2+ years, the roots were all rotten, and growing fungus. I knew it wouldn’t look good in there because I could tell the plant was weak even though it was in bloom. Of my 7 orchids, I now have 4. ALL of those 4 were badly weakened, had washed out leaves, rotten roots(more than what is usual), no new root growth, and dropped or no new leaf growth. Again, for this to happen to one plant — hey no big deal. But all of my plants? Unacceptable. Jeff and his mother took absolutely no responsibility for this. If these plants were at my father’s nursery, they’d be growing out of their pots in the amount of time that I had them at the Orchid Gallery(except they wouldn’t be growing out of their pots, because my father would have repotted them). It grieves me that this is the level of professionalism that seems so common in North Carolina, and that I’ve lost 3 very valuable plants to me.
