Worst tortilla española I’ve ever had in my life. Don’t order this item. It’s not even close to what an authentic Spanish tortilla should look or taste like…

I have been going to the Spain Inn for at least 25 years. Louis is a gracious host. The staff are friendly and the sangria is outrageously good! Great place for date night. High end food ant very reasonable prices. Can stand up with any of the more expensive places in Ironbound or Manhattan. The best! A+++++

Spain Inn is the best in Spanish cuisine. Their«Paella” is exquisite. Also, Calamres fritos, the Tortilla Española and Marisco en salsa verde. What a place to visit with excellent service and great Sangria. I’ll be going back soon.

Went for dinner, party of 12. Forks were dirty, cup had lip prints on it. Bread was AMAZINGLY soft, sauce for the bread was delicious! Service was acceptable however i still don’t know my waiters name. Sangria was EXCEPTIONAL! Food came out a decent pace. Three orders were wrong —(medium, rare and well done steaks were mixed up). A friend who got the well done steak was handed someone else from our tables dish after recognizing the mix up AFTERHEALREADYTOUCHEDTHEFOOD. Of course she declined and they kindly brought her a well done steak newly plated. Stuffed tilapia was out of this world. Great portion size — couldn’t finish. Everyone loved the steaks — although plating was poor(if you’re into that kinda stuff) and rack of lamb was«bangin». Prices are acceptable. Parking wasn’t bad. Overall we had a pleasurable evening. Would go back again. 4 stars because of the waiter, he was a bit sarcastic for my liking, the cup and fork was dirty(I’m kinda picky about that) and the fact that the plate was handed to her after someone fiddled with the veggies on it and he expected her to take it.

Great sangria! Sets the bar pretty high. They have great space for events. I had my sweet 16 here and they were very accommodating. Great spread of options for buffet style events. The paella and calamari are a must.

We really enjoy this place. I find the portions reasonable and my meal has always been fresh. The only awful dish(es) we had were when attending a wedding sadly so if your just gone for dinner you are going to enjoy your meals. Don’t pass up the specials! Very authentic and we have had great service. Easy parking and a wonderful experience.

Came here on a Friday night. It was quite crowded, plus there was some kind of event going on in the hall. After waiting about fifteen minutes for a table, we were seated in the back. The décor could sure use an update, but nonetheless things were clean. We ordered the calamari appetizer and I just loved the sauce(so much we asked for more!). Then we ordered the Mariscada for two and it was a lot of food! The pot was full of seafood: lobster, mussels, scallops, clams, and shrimp… along with a plate of rice. The broth was so incredible I ended up drinking it like soup! Overall, this was a very good spot if you’re in the mood for some good seafood. It’s easy to pass by this place because it’s practically in the middle of a residential area, but you’ll be happy you stopped by! Prices are a little high, but fair for what you get.

We went to Spain Inn last night and had a really great meal. We started with two appetizers. Chorizo, and then an avocado special. Both were delicious. Of course we had white sangria– which also was great. We ended up having two pitchers amongst the three of us but it was well worth it. We all surprisingly had the same course, all cooked differently but everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was kind of more pricy than two stars in my honest opinion — more like 3 to 3.5 but overall we had a good experience. I’ve driven passed this restaurant at least a thousand times and never went. It would be good for a «classier» date night where you’re ok with spending about a hundred bucks for a meal for 2. It ended up being about $ 190 for 3 of us.

The stuff you dip the bread in was fabulous! The guy next to me got the 18″ sirloin on a stone. He said it was great! I had lobster stuffed with crab and it was excellent.

I’ve been coming to this place for years! It has great food and drinks. Food always comes out beautifully and fresh! They have the best bartender in New Jersey– Jimmy! I definitely recommend this place!

Have been here several times but it is now pass it’s prime. First of all, no ambiance, in need of a major makeover! Food has gone downhill, chewy seafood, tiny clams and mussels and no attention to refreshing the buffet. Dishes and dirty utensils not attended to in a timely manner.

I have 2 main points regarding this place: First and foremost, we ate here in December as a party of 8. Needless to say, we ate a lot and spent a lot. Guess how we were rewarded? One of our family members had his work cell phone STOLEN!!! After investigation, we realized that one of the employees confiscated it. «Oh, it has never happened here before!» whined the owner. Yeah, buddy, it did happen. A report has been filed. Secondly, this was my 3rd time eating here and to me, the food is mediocre. Nothing is memorable and I would recommend going down to the Ironbound section. THAT is good food. You ladrones have lost a customer and need to watch whom you hire.

I’ve been coming to this place for over 25 years. I haven’t been here in about five years. Took my dad for lunch and was glad to see that they haven’t missed a step. Had the garlic shrimp, awesome as usual. For my entrée I had the beef tips with shrimp in garlic sauce. Yes you can see the theme with me is garlic garlic and more garlic. My dad had the veal in lemon wine sauce. Between the sangria the potato chips and the rice the meal was off the hook, just like I remember every meal at this place I’ve never had a bad meal. Good memories at this place, great food.

I went to this place with high expectations after reading some of the reviews. I ordered ahead for pick up and it was ready in less than 20 minutes. I only live a few blocks away so it was convenient. The order consisted of chicken cutlets in wine sauce, shrimp with garlic sauce, the spanish sausage appetizer and the customary rice and vegetable sides. On entering the restaurant my first thought was that this place needed a visit from Gordon Ramsey. WOW this place is dated. I sat at the bar while waiting for my order and was reticent to even put my arms on the bar. The bar top is well past its prime. The bar stools are dingy, even with the dim lighting. Getting home with the food I was still expecting good things. The sausage was sliced thin on a bed of cabbage that was also sliced thin. This led to eating a little cabbage with every bite of sausage or getting frustrated trying to pick the cabbage out of sausage. The chicken was not tasty at all. I actually just put hot sauce on it so I wouldn’t waste the money spent. The Shrimp was not as bad as the chicken, but was still not anywhere near what it should have been given the cost. The rice is of the par-boiled variety which lends itself to a hard texture. I got so frustrated with the food I actually gave in and had ramen instead. I will NOT be visiting this place again under any circumstance. There are a couple of other Spanish/Portuguese places within a mile or so that are on par with the price with much better quality.

This place is absolutely awesome! The food is northern coastal Spanish and tremendously good all the way around. One of the few places I go well out of my way to still visit almost two decades later just for the fare. The service is excellent and friendly and they make the best pitchers of sangria I’ve ever had. The dishes I highly suggest are the filet mignon(not on the stone), the shrimp and garlic appetizer and the piaya, And wash it down with the homemade sangria of course. If you’re a foodie, go to this place … now!

I have been working in Plainfield for almost a year. ALmost daily I pass this restaurant on my way to lunch. I always made note that I wanted to try it. Well my job provide the opportunity with a work event on 6⁄16. It did not disappoint. We had a buffet style lunch that was a feast spread for a king. The amount of dishes had to be about 30. The calimari sauce was thick and robust. The chicken was tasty. The rice perfectly cooked. The beets were fresh! I could go on and on…

About 25 – 30 years ago, maybe when they first opened, this place used to be one of our special occasion restaurants. Over time, as our palates changed, and maybe our income was a little better, we found other special occasion places. While we still had the occasional Spanish/Portuguese meal we always wound up someplace else depending who we were meeting up with and where they were coming from. Despite my long time absence, I always had a very positive remembrance of this place. Well, I returned for lunch the other day and enjoyed an excellent meal with outstanding and friendly service. My friend had a glass of sangria which he said was very tasty. I stuck to a soft drink as it was an early lunch. I had a lunch special that was a chicken breast covered with shrimp and garlic sauce, accompanied by rice, vegetables and Spanish fried potatoes. Everything was delicious and the portion was quite large. Normally $ 14.95 would be a bit high for lunch but it was a lot of good food. My friend’s $ 10.95 shrimp in garlic sauce luncheon was accompanied by rice and potatoes. The shrimp portion was much larger than one normally sees in the similarly price appetizer. He said it tasted excellent too. They also put out a hot and crusty bread with an olive oil with garlic and red peppers dipping sauce. After lunch we went into the bar for cappuccino and espresso and to watch the World Cup. It’s really not a p[lace to watch the game so we left at halftime very full and very happy.

After my daughters graduation from Rutgers, we decided to try because of the great food reviews. The place wasn’t anything to look at but did have a warm feel however there was a loud party going on and the music could be heard(very loudly) in the main dining room. I couldn’t even hear the waiter when he was telling us the specials. The food came and the portions were huge and looked delicious! I had the duck a’la orange, my mother had the filet of sole with shrimp, my daughter had the chicken with wine sauce and her bf had the chicken with mushrooms and all were delicious! Everything came with a side of home made chips, green beans and carrots as well as a large plate of yellow rice for the table. The table next to us was very loud and obnoxious, between them and the music, the restaurant was definitely lacking in a relaxing enjoyable atmosphere however 5 stars for the food and reasonable prices.

I used to go here now and again and it had been years. I always liked it. Went yesterday for lunch and it was pretty good. I had a chicken in wine sauce that wasn’t super appealing looking but was tender and tasty. I do they think they need to sharpen up the looks of the food a bit. Ate at the bar and the servers were very nice and I felt relaxed and comfortable. Had a couple of espresso’s and previously some wine — it was nice.
