Stopped by here while in the area and so glad we did. Looks like it wouldn’t be much from the outside but the burger was amazing! Great price for a huge burger and fries. Better than any restaurant burger I have ever had. I live over an hour from here and I am already planning a trip back. So good.

Great burgers, fries and shakes. Service is also great. When friends and family visit we always squeeze in a trip to Mr. Beefy’s. Come hungry the burgers are not tiny!

A oasis in the woods… Have known about Tim for years as a real gentle soul and great cook. A few years back, I had a late friend living at my place in Pioneer on a limited income. Tim recognized his plight and kindly welcomed him with a few wonderful meals at a discount. I acknowledge Tim’s kindness and he continues to operate his restaurant on a very high standard. Thanks

I came in here for my first time to order a burger and it was delicious. I got a bubba burger, the customer service was excellent and kept the area nice and clean! I will definitely be coming back again

Yum. Big huge burgers definitely big enough to split. Especially when you add a side. The cook makes the bacon for your burger right when you order it which is nice to know it hasn’t just been sitting cooked for a few days with the condiments. Fresh buns. Great customer service I had a teen boy(probably around 13) take my order, he did a fantastic job super attentive and friendly. Only con… my fries were realllly greasy and soggy. But everything else was so good that I won’t hold that against them :) stop here! Easy to miss it’s just a small hole in the wall but those are usually the best burger places!

There is something good about being on a trip and finding a really good burger place on the road! We went there for lunch based on other Unilocal reviews, and I am glad we did! The food is real folks! The burgers are tasty and huge! A few things called my attention, and made me like this place even more: The fries and onion rings taste fresh, not out of a frozen bag. If they are, those guys make a damn good job preparing them. You actually have a choice of the cheese you want in your burger. I am tired of burger places that only offer American cheese, because they think everyone in the world loves Velveeta! They serve green leaf lettuce instead of iceberg! It is so good to bite on a burger and taste real lettuce instead of the boring and tasteless iceberg! I had a bacon cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese with fries, and we shared an order of onion rings(we were 4 in the party). We were all so full we could barely eat that night. My only comment is that when it is really cold like when we went, the metal chairs they have inside could use some kind of cushion. When I first sat on them I felt my buns froze! The food totally made up for it though! This place is right on Hwy 88, and they close at 3:30, so it is a place for lunch only. I will certainly be back next time I am in the area.

I had an absolutely fantastic burger yesterday at Mr. Beefy’s, the tiny place at the intersection of Red Corral Road with the highway going from Jackson to Pioneer. The buns were fabulous and looked home baked, the meat was thick, tender and juicy and flavorful, and I had mine with bacon and blue cheese – a mouthwatering combination! My comment at the time was«This is worth driving all the way from Wilton to get one.»

This place is fabulous! It’s a total homegrown establishment where the owner truly takes pride in what he has created! We stopped here for dinner tonight, and although it’s a small dining area, it’s air conditioned and has satellite TV! The owner put on Bubble Guppies for my boys to keep them occupied while the food was freshly prepared. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the burgers are gourmet. I had the blue cheese bacon burger and it was fantastic. The bun was in a class of its own and the serving of fries(with skin) was ample. One of my sons ordered chicken strips and the quality was top notch. All white breast meat with a good breading is definitely superior to the traditional«nugget.» Finally, the coke from the fountain was the perfect balance of syrup and bubbles. We loved this place(and we are hardcore Bay Area burger snobs), so we will definitely come here again(in fact, I’m trying to convince my husband to stop on our way out of town:).

Stopped here yesterday with five others on motorcycles. To a person, we all agreed that these may have been the best burgers we ever had and we’ve been all over the country. Garlic fries and onion rings were great too. All for what you’d pay at a fast food joint. I read that one lady had to wait 45 minutes for her food, maybe it just seemed that long because of the wonderful smell coming from the kitchen. We did have to wait about 10 minutes, but boy was it worth it. If you want faster service then go to MacDonald’s fool.

This is a burger, a real burger and is made by a man that loves what he does. Everything is fresh, and with the price, the portions are ridiculously good. The burger itself was almost the size of my steering wheel, yeah, that’s huge! The onion ring and freshly cut French fries are the perfect sides, and great shakes too. This guy knows what he is doing and takes joy out of people loving his cooking. Living in Sac, it’s an hour drive, but it’s a fun drive and what waits at the end is worth. If you are in the area, you got to try.

Never judge a book by its cover. We stopped here before heading out for some wine sampling. It’s not much too look at, but boy was it good. To begin with, the burger was huge. The patty was perfectly cooked– juicy and well spiced, and plenty of fries to boot! Service was good(the little guy at the window was charming). No complaints about the price– $ 8+ for a huge burger, fries, and a soda. Next time we’re in Pioneer, this place will be on the stop list.

Excellent burgers. Buns are fresh. Lettuce doesn’t hold up well though… Get the fries very well done since they are«home» style. Nice to have this place in Pioneer!

We stopped at Mr. Beefy’s for lunch last weekend. First off, meat bang for the buck, Mr. Beefy delivers! The burgers start under $ 5 and they don’t use lightweight patties. I had the mushroom version for $ 4.99, and while good, I kinda wish they hadn’t salted the mix so much and let me add the salt as I’d like. The buns have a kind of cornbread vibe– they don’t taste anything like the 24 for $ 4 crap you buy at Costco. They are generous with the condiments, and who can beat the outdoor seating for a great al fresco lunch(at least on a nice day)? A potential major downside is the time to service– despite it nominally being what is served at McDo, this ain’t fast food. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes if only a couple orders precede you. And if the local biker gang has made this a pit stop before you’ve arrived(we were luckily ahead of the 20 «50-year-old white coots trying to be hip while riding 3-wheelers» crowd that rolled in at noon), you are probably going to wait a lot longer!

Last Saturday, my husband and I was driving thru town and decided to stop for dinner. Big mistake! First of all it took 41 minutes to get two burgers and an order of fries. There were only 3 other customers ahead of us. Secondly, hubs ordered well done bacon, but the thing was still oinking… Undercooked parts and not even cooked done. Thirdly, the fries were so greasy… limpy and grease soaked. The burgers were just ok… kinda bland tasting and dry. I really wanted to like this place based on all the great Unilocal reviews. Possibly I just went on an off day.

We were taking the back roads from Nevada to Daffodil hill today and accidentally came across this little jem of a burger joint! This place isn’t fancy by any means but they make awesome, fresh and tasty burgers. There burgers were very large! They were juicy and super flavorful! Our party ordered 4 different burgers. Our 7 year old had a cheese burger with ketchup and he kept raving about how good and juicy it was. Our grandma ordered a regular cheese burger with everything on it and she enjoyed hers. My husband ordered a mushroom burger with double mushrooms. His was very juicy!!! And the mushrooms were delicious! Probably the best we have ever had on a burger. I ordered a bacon blue cheese wrapped in lettuce and it was mighty tasty! It was full of flavor and juicy. I really enjoyed their French fries! They seemed to be fresh cut potatoes with the skin on still, they also had a great salt and pepper mixture on them. I wish that it was not so off the normal beat and path for us or else we would make it a regular place! Even though it’s far from where we live, I see us making our way been here. The prices are very reasonable! A burger combo with fries and a drink was under $ 9.00. Lunch for 3 adults and a child was $ 30 My only complaint would be the soda fountain tasted a bit off in terms of flavor, they have cherry coke which is my favorite and it almost had a root beer taste, which I hate.

I also think this place has slipped a little. They tend to overcook the burgers which can make them dry, even if you order them medium, and the fries don’t taste as good as they used to, maybe due to different oil, though they are hand cut as before, and not frozen. The garlic fries are covered with garlic powder, which is not nearly as good as the fresh garlic most places use. The buns seem a little different also, and not quite as good perhaps, though I think most hamburger lovers will probably still be happy here. The young boy who works there sometimes is a real charmer. I’d give him 5 stars.

Don’t let the small size of the restaurant deceive you, because this place delievers big flavor! Great freshly made food at very reasonable prices. Everything I’ve tired has been tasty so you won’t be disappointed. Drop in and if it’s busy it’s worth the wait.

The last couple times we’ve come here, the buns have been a bit stale & not quite as fresh tasting. Oh well, still pretty good burgers.

Went here after reading the great reviews on our way up to our cabin. So here is my take on the whole thing. If you like big and fill your belly with bland meat this is the place. Honestly the burger was tasteless. The bacon on top was tasteless. I liked the fries but nothing super special. Rock n Roll station they had on loud speakers was okay but when the reception is terrible and speakers suck it is annoying. Maybe a bad day but I won’t waste my time going back.

Unilocal you did not fail us on this one. Thank you. Getting here was totally worth the crazy drive. After looking on Unilocal and finding this almost perfect 5 star drive in(except maybe one or two people) we decided we must check it out. When we get there I am reminded of a place where I used to live. Inside has the menu written in marker above the register. The burgers have names not just«cheese burger» and«double cheeseburger». For example I ordered the«Bubba» which is amazing, in case you’re wondering. I only talked to one of the staff working there. The woman who took our order and eventually brought us our food. She is a nice older woman but part of me felt like she wasn’t really taken with us. I could be paranoid, but the way she spoke to me sometimes just gave me that vibe. She wasn’t completely like that. She did have a smile and a more pleasant tone as well. OKOK let’s get to the food. I remember when I first ordered the Bubba, someone sitting in the place told me that he tried it once, and was the only one to ever finish it. I’m thinking, «Awesome, I’m going to be completely stuffed.» The burger was very very very big, and yes I did finish it all: D. I thought it was going to be a little bigger by the way the guy was describing it, but it’s plenty big enough as it is. The burger had so much flavor. You can tell it was very well seasoned. I also love with my burger is dripping juice, and soaking through the paper. To me that’s a sign of a good juicy burger. The fries were very good as well. You can tell these people really care about the quality of the food. We also had an order of onion rings. They were good. Not crispy but more like beer battered onion rings. We were also given tarter sauce with them, which we thought was odd. Over all I am extremely pleased with the place and can’t wait to bubba it up again.
