Your Success is My Goal Fitness Bootcamp with Jeff Laynes got me back in shape quickly and safely. Jeff is so good at assessing just what each student needs based on their specific personal goals. He keeps work-outs fun and effective, and mixes each session up so you never get bored, but just keep getting stronger and more fit. Results from my workouts are showing up in my golf game(longer drives) and when playing softball(getting to first base much more quickly)! He even got me running, which I haven’t done in years due to knee pain, yet with his expert coaching, he corrected and improved my form such that I had no knee pain at all during or after running. I attended the morning sessions, and though getting to the field at 6am was sometimes a struggle, every session was totally worth it — I always left each session feeling like I just did something really worthwhile for myself, and felt better for it. I highly recommed Jeff Laynes as a personal trainer and his Your Success is My Goal fitness bootcamp.

I had a wonderful experience at the Your Success my Goal Boot Camp. Jeff made sure not to give me too much since it was my first time at a Boot Camp. He was very patient and helpful. Jeff is a top-notch personal trainer and boot camp instructor! Working with Jeff has helped me re-experience things I thought I had forgotten — like making old man grunts when I stand up from a chair because my back and legs are super sore, or laying in bed for an extra hour despite being hungry because I’m too sore to move. In all seriousness, I really enjoy Jeff’s workout routines and have had some great results in the past two months. Since my shoulder surgery 4 years ago, I’ve been scared to over-exert my shoulder but Jeff has helped me build up my shoulder’s strength and stability immensely. Jeff taught me how to perform Olympic weightlifting, which I have always wanted to learn, and he’s helped me fine tune my form with other weight training exercises and make sound dietary recommendations. I’ve tried different boot camps in the past, even one led by a friend, and this is the only one that is actually fun. I’ve been to the AM and PM sessions and the group dynamic is great! People were very supportive, encouraging, fun to talk to, and funny even at my very first session. Even though we are all at different levels of fitness, Jeff is able to tailor our exercise routines to focus on the things we need/want to work on. He also has great attention to detail — he is able to keep an eye on everyone in the group to make sure we are doing things correctly and safely(I know, because I tried to cheat and he caught me, dang it). Since I started working with Jeff, my energy levels have gone up a lot. Up until recently, I have been spending 9 – 10 hours/day studying for an exam, and boot camp and the training sessions have helped me maintain a stable sleep schedule, which is something I struggle with when I’m stressed. I’ve also picked up a good repertoire of exercises to integrate into my workout routine, which is great because I’ll never get bored with working out. Overall, Jeff is an excellent trainer and I highly recommend you just give him all your monies. I’ll really miss working with him when I move back to Chicago in October, but it’s thanks to Jeff that I can be that awesome medical student chick that does Olympic weightlifting at the school gym.

When my friend invited me to Jeff’s boot camp at Piedmont High I didn’t know what to expect but I was hooked after the first two sessions. His workouts are a combination of cardio, cross training and strength training. Unlike most boot camps, Jeff doesn’t do the same workout for everyone. From the start he was tailoring the workout to my needs and current fitness level. Since he works with smaller groups he can really observe and correct your form. He continually adjusts the workouts based on my progress and feedback. Over the past few months he’s helped me improve my running form and strengthen various muscle groups. Jeff is also very friendly and constantly encourages you during the workout. It’s also great to be outside on the lovely PHS track after a long day in the office. Overall, Jeff is excellent and highly recommended.

I found Jeff because I was specifically looking for a running coach for my son, Stretch. Jeff is a sprinter and currently competes in shorter distances than Stretch but has more race experience and starting experience so I thought his knowledge might be invaluable. I have been impressed with not only the results they have achieved together over the last 6 months but at the level of care Jeff takes in addressing individual concerns. Stretch has an allergy to exercise which per the Chief of Allergy at Kaiser meant he should give up running. We have made a lot of dietary changes to help circumvent the reaction which is full facial swelling and hives but it occasionally happens and is rather freaky looking. Jeff was willing to take my 13yo on and make sure he was comfortable with his new and ever changing body and give him enough confidence to listen to how he feels, which is imperative for managing his condition. They have worked hard on abs, backs, cardio endurance and calves and seen huge gains. Additionally, Stretch likes to compete in obstacle races and the gains he has made in core strength & upper body have made it much easier for him to slither under barbwire and traverse walls. His brother, Shorty, not a runner but rather a basketball player was duly impressed when he noticed his brothers six pack and asked to work out as well. Two different kids in personality so Shorty joins Jeff at 6am whereas Stretch usually attends the 6:30pm class. Both classes are at Witter Field in Piedmont, when it rains they are in the Oakland Hills, inside. Jeff manages to attract a great group of people so both my my boys are fond of their other boot campers and enjoy going to class. I think my kids at 14 and almost 12 are the only«kids» so this is not a kid class in orientation but rather a bootcamp with a trainer who can and does tailor specific workouts for his clients. It wouldn’t work for every kid but it has been a great success in my household.

My highest recommendation for Jeff! Training with Jeff has the only time in my entire life I’ve ever been able to start working out and keep with it, and I feel great. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this all this time. My brother has been working out with Jeff for the past year and swears by him. I recently moved to the bay, and my brother peer pressured me into trying it out as well in a «it’s time for us to get healthy» challenge. With maybe the exception of yoga, I hate exercise and especially the feeling of running. I’ve never worked out consistently – every time in the past decade that I’ve tried to start, I basically stop after 2 weeks because of shin splints and laziness. We train with Jeff at Piedmont High School, and each work out is different and personalized. I think in the past I’ve always tried to go too hard too quickly and then burn out/get hurt. Jeff does an amazing job of pushing you but also making sure that you have a strong foundation, so that you don’t injure yourself and are thinking about exercise as a lifestyle change. Jeff is really nice and also seems to attract incredibly nice people. Everyone that works out with him has been warm, encouraging, and funny. A great crowd! And Jeff isn’t just for beginners – many of the people in the morning sessions were regular marathon runners and just working to improve their speeds. Also, more generally, doing these bootcamps is a great commitment device. It’s really nice to just have someone tell you exactly what to do and then you go do it. This made something that was really overwhelming – getting fit and healthy – actually seem possible. If you’ve been thinking about starting to work out for a long time or just want to have someone help you improve, I would strongly recommend checking out Jeff.

Your Success, My Goal Boot camp is fantastic! I did the morning work outs and the group is usually 10 – 12 people tops and the only thing you all do together is the warm up! He pays attention to each persons goals and gives you specific work outs to meet them. I went for 30 days before my trip to Hawaii and I couldn’t believe the shape I was in backpacking the Kalalau trail! I moved to GA right after my trip, but if I had stayed in Oakland I would have continued going to this boot camp indefinitely. Thanks Jeff!

I have been working with Jeff for a few months now, and I cannot say enough. Jeff watches everyone individually, and shapes workouts to suit each person. He is full of knowledge and happy to share. I do the early morning workouts 6 a.m. at the Piedmont Highschool track in Oakland. It was a little hard to adjust to the getting up and out at this time, but it has gotten a lot more natural, and it is great to have already done my workout by the start of my day. There are people training for specific events(i.e. marathons), folks recovering from serious health issues, and many just looking to get in shape. It really is suitable for all levels. Jeff comes with my highest recommendation. I am a much better person for having made the commitment.

I signed up for the boot camp the beginning of this month. I didn’t know what to expect, I just showed up ready to sweat. The thing that I like about Jeff is that although we are working out as a group he evaluates the level of each participant and customizes your workout based off what you can do, not what you think you can do but what you are capable of doing. Each day the workouts become a little more challenging and Jeff is there to give you that extra push you need. I am completing week number 4 tomorrow and I definitely feel stronger and leaner because of the boot camp. Give it a try!

I’ve been working with Jeff for a year now. He’s gotten me through three road races and has improved my performance in a major way. I ran the Oakland Marathon in March in 4 hours, 2 minutes. My last marathon — 6 years ago — was 4 hours, 46 minutes. A huge improvement that wouldn’t have been possible without his guidance. If that’s not proof enough that Jeff is amazing, I’ll say this: He is kind and encouraging without letting you off the hook. He customizes individual workouts for you, even as you’re working out with other people. He is attentive to your needs, goals, and limitations. And he really knows his stuff! I’m 41, and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in(and I’ve been active my whole life). Jeff has been great for me, but I also see how terrific he is with other clients who come to him at a range of fitness levels. Jeff is amazing. He was able to analyze my running form and make recommendations on how to increase my speed and endurance. We are also working on building core muscles and developing arm and leg strength. It’s a total body workout. I find Jeff firm yet encouraging. Jeff is an INCREDIBLE trainer and I LOVE working out in his bootcamp! I hvae been an athlete my entire life and was trained by a professional athelte for most of it. However after college and a major injury I sadly saw my body go through a lot of changes and get effected for the worse by lack of exercise. Getting back on the horse and rehabbing my injuries has been fun and fulfilling through this bootcamp. I can totally see and feel the results and it is really motivating. Everyday is something different and I actually find myself looking forward to getting up way early in the morning and getting a good workout in before work. I am thrilled to keep up with the workouts and keep seeing results. I recommed him as a trainer from beginner to more experienced, he has a style that will benefit everyone!

I had a few trainers before and Jeff is definitely the different one. At the end of every session, he would ask for feedbacks about the workout to make sure that we are getting the most out of it. My sister and I used Jeff as a personal trainer for a month. He really is an incredible trainer and is by far the best I have ever had and I would recommend him to anyone! I think Jeff is so good at what he does b/c of 2 main reasons. 1) He understand the body and is able to quickly look at someone and understand which areas are weak and which areas are your strong points. He def looks at you as an individual which is unique. 2) His personality. Jeff is patient, creative and genuinely nice yet stern enough to encourage you to push yourself to the next level /to do that extra sit up! I feel in amazing shape after working out 3 days a week with Jeff and I’m so happy we found his contact info. I saw some immed. changes in my body and felt soo good after working out and stretching for 10 minutes after the workout with Jeff. Having Jeff help you stretch after is almost the best part b/c your body feels so relaxed after! I don’t think my body has ever felt better. I’ve been to other boot camps that I’ve really enjoyed, but what I like about Jeff’s training is that he’s really patient and works with you to figure out what you want to achieve with your training sessions. He will work you as hard you(or as gently) as you want. Every session was different, and that’s really what I prefer. I’ve had three-day weekly sessions with him, and I still never got the hang of the«bear crawl» routine. No matter how many times he assigned it, it was like I was too uncoordinated! But outside of that, I really feel that it’s not so much I’ve lost a bunch of weight, but more that I know I’m way more in shape, and I have lost inches. I’ll definitely be signing up for another ession, and maybe upping it by one day – the belly, it doesn’t leave as fast as it used to! It was a total win for me, and I’m glad I decided to work with him.
