Great tortillas, excellent salsa, and friendly service. If you’re in the area, hop in and get the Salsa Borracha. Family members request this salsa specifically when planning a Mexican meal. Whether you speak English, Spanish, Spanglish, Chinese, Aramaic, or Martian, you’ll get good service. The line can get a tad long around the holidays because people flock here for tamales, masa, tortillas, etc, so plan on giving yourself some extra time. There is minimal street parking, however there is a small public lot in the back. La Manster(as we like to call it) is also a full service carniceria, small grocery/produce(even saw a box of Just For Men, for you silver foxes), and restaurant with a couple of small tables. Take out is awesome and a great value!

Was hoping this place would be good but much to my surprise it couldn’t suck any more! The carnitas have absolutely no freakin flavor and the birria is just as bland. The only good thing was the manzanita sol I bought to go with the meal. I guess supporting little mom and pop places isn’t really working out for me lol as far as the tamales haven’t tried them so who knows if they’re good or not. The guy who prepares your food seemed nice but it doesn’t make up for their tasteless food menu.

Hidden gem in Pico… OHMYGOSH… They have thee best tamales in town! There carnitas burritos are also a must have! Tamales only cost $ 1.25 that’s what you pay at a food for less parking lot, definitely worth coming here for good tamale! Only problem I’ve had is customer service, the two older Mexican guys got our order wrong not once, not twice oh and yeah not 3 times but 4 times… That was very frustrating! But still got great food !!!

Great tamales, fresh salsa selection. Love their carnitad, chicharones, and their surtido is very very good. Food made to order is also done very well. This place is a must try!!!

After all the hype hearing about this place from a coworker and reading the reviews, not what I expected. The tortillas are ok, nothing to brag about. I’ve had better. The carnitas were drowning in oil or lard, looked gross, so I tried the costillas con chile, which are good. I give the costillas an A, not an A+. I also bought some of the chicharones con chile, YUCK. Smelled and tasted like old manteca. I was so ready for some good food and just ended up throwing it away. What a bummer. Boooo, on the guacamole too. Good thing I only bought ½ pound to try it. Threw this away too. The guac at HUEJUCAR on Rosemead/off Washington is the BEST!!! But I may have to give this place another chance and try the tamales and menudo. Next time I want chicharones con chile or carnitas, I’ll just call my momma. She’ll whip them up in a heartbeat! She’ll also makes tamales in the summer & all year long when requested. She’s not one of those Christmas Mexicans.

I love their chile rellenos. They are different from the other places and they sell them to me dry which means they give them to me with the salsa on the side. Huge pasilla chiles with mexican cheese inside that is not melty cheese. They are awesome. Good carnitas at a decent price.

This review is based solely on the menudo, and, quite honestly, it’s the only thing you would have to taste to fall in love with this place. It’s authentic here. None of that Juanita’s-in-a-can menudo. This is the stuff that will rival your abuelita’s. Perfect for la cruda(if you know what I mean… and I KNOW you do!) PS: The tortillas here are boooooomb. Made a mano, they’re worth the wait to get ‘em fresh.

If you live in the area or are from out of town and find yourself cruising down«the boulevard»(Whittier that is) you need to stop at La Mano. This store/tortilleria has some of the most authentic Mexican food south of Los Angeles. The tortillas are warm and thick, add some queso fresco and some chile and you’ll have yourself quite the meal. But the real reason to check out La Mano is to try their surtido. This is a mixture of carnitas and other pork items and it is god damn delicious. So here’s my tip, skip the local taco truck and instead head into La Mano. Pick up a half pound to a pound of surtido, some fresh tortillas, some chile and some guacamole and then head over to your girls’ house or your friends place and enjoy the best taco’s you’ve had in some time.

Where have you been all my life, Dude seriously this place is the typical hole in the wall joint. This place tastes better than most Mexican restaurants that I have ever been to, I know its a bold statement but dude seriously good eats here, here is the run down… This place obviously makes tortillas here that are the best around hands down, they also sell food and have a small store that sells eggs, milk, veggies etc. they have a small seating area but if you are eating nearby then take it to go. they have specials that give you rice, beans, and whatever meat of your choice(and they have plenty to choose from) with hand made tortillas and salsa I have tried all their meats already and they all rocked my mouth. p. s. when you come here parking is on the sides or the back and then just follow the carnitas wonderful aroma, seriously I need a carnitas air freshener yumm.

I’ve been coming here for a few years for freshly made corn tortillas for a pretty good price. They’re really good and available all the time unlike some nearby places which only make fresh tortillas on the weekend. The tortillas are SO fresh that they are warm in the bag, and steam comes trickling out as you open it up. Oh yum… try some queso fresco in those tortillas as well!

Very good. Quaint and simple food. Stopped by on my way home from work and will find myself heading home this way more often. rice and beans not so good though. But who comes to eat that?
