Ask to have your food special order due to allergens and still come back wrong. This place has rude waitresses and on top of that suddenly they have a «dress code». After working out and working up an appetite the manager refused service to people with fitness attire.(Even if they were neat and not sweaty) really ??? Why this place is super fancy right? I have seen worse dressed persons get service, that is so wrong in so many levels. Never eating here ever again.

I took my mom to the restaurant on her last weekend of her winter vacation. She wanted birria de chivo because she makes it at home but she wanted someone else to make it for once :) Food: We ordered birria and the shrimp cocktail. Since the restaurant didn’t offer a non-spicy option, she had to have it dry with the sauce on the side. When the food was presented, it looked delicious but once she had it she was disappointed. The meat was flavorless and overcooked. It did not taste fresh(we got there in the evening so it’s possible it was not made to order but we are not certain). The shrimp cocktail was acceptable but not worth the hour drive. Since the cup was almost as big as my face, I hoped there would be more shrimp in it. To drink we had tamarindo. Our personal preference is for this juice to be tarty and super strong but it was rather watery and sugary. Their tortillas are delicious! Ambiance: Since it was the weekend, it was very busy and noisy. Kiddos were screaming all over the place. BUT we didn’t mind, it’s a family restaurant. It was warm and welcoming. We waited for almost 30 minutes which we didn’t mind until the food was a disappointment. Bathroom: It was a mess. There were paper towels all over the floor and no toilet seat covers. Since it’s busy on the weekend, there needs to be someone supervising the bathroom closely. Service: Excellent. Our server, Judith, was professional, knew the dishes well and she was nice. The good also didn’t take long to be brought to the table.

Trying to be fair here. Went on a Monday night to celebrate my son’s birthday. Since it was a Monday night I was expecting to have a nice dinner with prompt service along with 8 other family members. We get to the restaurant and to my surprise it was full of people. OK, no big deal we can wait. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated. The nice waitress took our orders and we did not see her again until maybe 45minutes later when she brought one plate out. So we were thinking, Finally our food is coming. Well it took her 15 minutes to bring another plate. 6 more dishes to go!!! Are you kidding me ?! Again, she left and by then we were a little frustrated but still trying to be nice. Waited and waited, finally one of my guest had to get up from her seat and find our server to ask her what was going on in a very polite manner. She said there had been a confusion inside the kitchen. It took over an hour for all of us to get our meals but by the time I got my dish half of my guest had finished theirs. Anyhow, just my experience. Overall, the food was really good except for one dish but the service was horrible!!!

I wasn’t impressed I came here for menudo which their menu says they have on Sunday’s, ordered it and she had to go check if they had any. The opened at 7 and I came at 9, how could they not have any? Their pancakes are bland, nothing great. Wouldn’t come back here Our waitress never even checked up on us and I had to wait and ask for the bill

Warning, you’re gonna need some teamwork; first to find a spot in the parking lot, and another one to get a table on the weekends. Had a Molcajete Mexicano, which is big enough to share; good taste, and nice to see that they make their tortillas in house.

This used to be one of my go to places for Mexican food. What the f… did they do to their beans. Were they trying to get rid of old enchilada sauce or what? Orded the asada tamipiquena. Rubbery meat paired with super spicy beans. What a waste of money. Should have just eaten cereal at home.

The food is good, but the waitresses are so rude this isn’t my first time coming here I been here for years since I was a little girl their customer service is very awful I don’t have high expectation in customer servicing but when it comes down to a family restaurant I Do have high expectations on how welcoming they should be and how their attitude should be as well.

I come here for one main thing: the molcajetes OMG those are the bomb! They come sizzling out and they have a really yummy flavor I recommend that dish to anyone who goes… I’ll be real some of the other dishes I’ve tried are mediocre but that one dish… Maaaaaan it’s great… Its a nice and clean restaurant usually full of people… nice enough staff… Close enough to go for a nice dinner once in a while overall

Worst menudo ever. No hominy. No clean cuts of beef tribe. A lot of other stuff in there like intestines. So disappointed I was really craving some good menudo on Saturday morning. No Mexican cokes… What!!! Cmon now! tortillas are good though. Made on the premises. Maybe the other food is better, definitely pass on the menudo though.

Decided to join my parents for lunch here, however they didn’t let my husband eat there because he was wearing a sleeveless Nike T-shirt. Seriously? I can accept it if this place was a nice restaurant but the building looks old and dirty yet they have the guts to have such dress code? Completely a joke!

First time visiting this restaurant n omg where to begin. When you first walk in be prepare for no one to acknowledge or welcome you. Once you finally flag someone down to ask for a table it takes anywhere from 20 – 30 min to be seated. No big deal since it was a Sunday n the Mexico game was on we expected it to be busy. Once we got seated we were ready to order since we had a chance to look at the menu while waiting. Let me tell you our waitress had attitude like no other. We were asking her what kind of sauce where the enchiladas? Her respond what do u mean(rolling eyes and everything) it’s enchilada sauce. We were referring as to green sauce or red sauce. So off the bat we where off to a bad start. The two stars were for how fast the food came out they didn’t take too long. The food ended up being cold or warm not hot as u would expect other than the fajitas. The portions for the molcajete are super small n over price. The taste was over all ok but I will not be coming back. Come here at your own risk as to what I seen from other Unilocalers have had bad experiences here.

Prior experience was great. Been back a few times and let me say. I won’t ever come back. Food has been consistently cold, not well prepared or presented. Cups and silverware has been dirty multiple times. Service is slow and food takes a long time to get to the table. Last but not least, ridiculously over priced. This morning my mom and I ordered the BKF special $ 6.99, a sope 4.99, and two coffees for $ 20. Seriously? The bkf special was cold and undercooked, the sope was just one sope no sides. And the coffee came in dirty mugs.

Called in an order for take-out today, was ready in 10 minutes! Nice! I had the chicken enchiladas w/rice and beans.($ 8.99) The enchiladas came smothered in their red sauce, lettuce, cotija cheese, tomato, radish, and a huge jalapeño pepper. The sauce used for the enchiladas was very tasty. Perfectly salty and not spicy at all, but did have a kick, if that makes any sense. They were filled with shredded chicken, carrots, and peas. 4 stars. The beans were delicious, but the rice? WoW! And this is coming from someone who hates restaurant rice. It was so fluffy and had great flavor. It also had the carrot and peas mixture in it. It didn’t taste generic like other places I’ve been to. 5 stars. I asked for extra table salsa on the side, but honestly, all the food had great flavor so I hardly used any on it. This place gets super busy on the weekends, especially on Sunday’s during brunch time. Come early, leave happy!

OurAfter church service at Calvary Chapel Montebello, my wife was saying talking about the restaurant called La Barca. It’s on the corner of Washington Blvd and Paramount just across the street from Walmart. I told her let’s go. We know this restaurant is very popular because we see people waiting outside of the restaurant. We have passed through many times and it’s always busy with people waiting outside. When we arrive at the restaurant people waiting outside for their table and parking lot was full but some cars were leaving then I found a parking space. We went inside the restaurant, we see people were sitting and standing up waiting for their table or take out order. It took couple of minutes until the hostess escort us to our table in jam pack room. The restaurant is nice with cloth tables with a glass cover. The menu is mixed with seafood and tradition Mexican cuisine especially from Mexican state of Jalisco this region serve hot and spicy food especially torta ahogados. We decided to order what we want I pick the Huevos Ahogados Abuelita it’s eggs with spicy tomatoes sauce it comes with noplales it’s cactus. My wife order the traditional chorizo with egg. The waitress brought us our food, the food look very impressive. I took a bite of my Huevos Ahogados Abuelita what great flavors, the tomatoes is spicy but have a kick to it. The noplales were very delicious with grest flavor and also comes with Mexican cheese on top plus dry chili. My wife enjoy her chorizo and egg, she say it wasn’t greasy. Overall the food is really but you have wait for a table because the restaurant is very popular we would go back again.

Love this place! I got the Caldo 7 mares(7 Sea Soup). Its a huge bowl filled with clam, crab, fish, shrimp, octopus and some veggies in a mildly spicy broth. Its only 14.99 which is an amazing deal for the quality. It also comes with handmade corn tortillas(or you can pick flour if you prefer). The restaurant provides free chips and salsa. Ive also tried their molcajete, birria, burritos, fajitas and sopes. Everything is good but the soup is my favorite. The soup is on their specials menu and I believe it is only available during the weekend while supplies last. If you go on Sunday there is a chance they will have run out of the soup so if thats what you want make sure to go early.
