I have been trying to get a weekend reservation here for months. I finally switched to a Thursday and got a table. Worth the wait!!! The interior is comfortable, interesting and clean. The service was top notch, from being greeted at the door to pouring the last glass of our BYOB. The food is unique to the area from frogs legs to trout. They served us a slice of home made Rosemary bread with a salted crust. I’m not a huge bread person, but it was exquisite! My trout«dish» was served on a cedar plank over citrus and fennel. Very clean, simple and delicious. We had the chocolate soufflé, which was good. But the real star was the home made salted caramel ice cream that accompanied it I can’t stop thinking about it! The only con would be the parking — but a small issue for a wonderful meal.

Had a really nice dinner here recently with friends. I had a rib eye steak that was done perfectly. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was very nice and cozy. I love a good BYOB and Majolica was excellent, will return.

Awful… that is the only word to describe our dinner tonight. We were seated by the kitchen and had the pleasure of listening to the staff argue with the chef. I ordered a steak medium well and it was delivered rare. Nothing would make us return.

This place is really something special and a gem in the Phoenixville foodie scene. A small town BYO with an award-winning chef, serving New American cuisine and utilizing French techniques in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. At the same time Majolica has a sophisticated and romantic feel to it. My boyfriend and I came here on Black Friday for a later reservation and we were seated right away in a corner table across from the open kitchen which made for a nice intimate The open kitchen, more like a large window here, is a great feature if you enjoy to see chefs create their masterpieces. Being a BYO, my boyfriend brought the fixins for gin & tonics, my favorite cocktail, and wine. Our female server happily chilled the wine while we enjoyed our G&Ts. Overall, she was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable and down-to-earth. After perusing the menu, we ordered several dishes to share. The first was a warm flatbread with apples, gorgonzola, basil, balsamic vinegar and what I believe were dabs of fig jam. It was the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Before our first dishes came out we were offered an amuse bouche which was essentially like an ahi tuna tartare. A nice, tasty bite but nothing out of the ordinary. Next up was the seared scallop atop a crispy pork belly round and grilled octopus with a chickpea, feta and mint salad. My boyfriend noted that the octopus was a little tough which, after tasting it myself, I agree. However, we did both enjoy the chickpea salad. The scallops and pork belly were a delicious combination of flavors — packed with texture. Following the octopus and scallops, we were treated to another chef surprise, a butternut squash soup served in a champagne flute. Our final two dishes were the sweet potato agnolotti and pork cassoulet. The agnolotti(which I have my boyfriend pronounce for me repeatedly =D) are like ravioli’s smaller, squarer cousin. They themselves were light which went well with the luscious cream sauce. As for the pork cassoulet, we were presented with a large, bubbling vat of beans, vegetables and shredded pork all under a rich, dark brown crust topped with grated Parmesan. I tried the agnolotti first and my boyfriend, the cassoulet. He cracked it open to reveal the shredded pork and beans swimming in a rich, flavorful sauce and the tiny discs of chorizo throughout were an excellent touch. We finished our dining experience off on a cool note with Earl Grey Tea ice cream, shortbread cookies and lemon curd. The ice cream was delicately spiced, the lemon curd wonderfully tart. Tough octopus aside, why not a five star rating? When we didn’t have our delightful server we had another male server who was not so kind towards us. It was a great experience nonetheless and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a BYO as their next dining destination in the area.

This is one of those places that makes you doubt the Unilocal methodology. My girlfriend wanted to take me someplace special for my birthday, with some special Napa wine we had brought back from our trip to San Fran, and we thought this would be the perfect choice. Wow, were we wrong. First, when we entered, there is no reception area, you are just standing and waiting among people dining at their tables. And wait we did. A full five miinutes, even though the dining room was less than half full on a Saturday night. We both looked at each other and wondered if we should just head up the street to one of the many other dining choices in Phoenixville. But no, we foolishly stuck around. We eventually were seated, and then waited again — a full ten minutes — for a waiter to come over. It was another twenty minutes before he offered to open our wine, and another ten minutes before we were brought any bread or openers. Believe me, by this time, I am timing their every movement. After we *finally* got to place our orders, my first choice — off a very limited selection — was not available. They were all out of the most Unilocal-praised item by 8PM on a saturday night! The chef — I assume it was the chef — then brought out a little amuse-bouche, and it was the most tasteless little morsel I have ever had in a reputable restaurant. Sadly, that was a harbinger of things to come. Nothing that came out of that kitchen had any flavor at all. It didn’t help that the ingredients were not of very good quality. Our guess was that the chef is a smoker, and has completely lost his palate. The flavors and sauces that were described on the menu just were not what was served. If it weren’t for the fine cab sauv we brought in ourselves, the entire dinner would have been a disaster. By the end, we were laughing at their incompetence, and their absolute audacity in charging the high prices they have. This place gets two stars as a comedy show, not as a restaurant.

This was as near to perfect a fine dining experience as I have had. The food & presentation & service was on par or better than any high-end restaurant I’ve been to among the various cities I’ve visited. Locally, I would say this compares well with Vernick in Philadelphia — but since it is away from the big city, and a smaller venue, a much quieter and more personal experience. Service was friendly and professional. There was something special about everything I ate here — oddly including the lemons in the iced tea(guessing it was the variety, but they had a floral quality with mild acidity). The butternut squash soup was spicy and dense and smooth, with a hint of rosemary — best I’ve ever had. Grilled octopus was a bit chewier than I prefer, but still very tasty(I think in combination with garbanzo beans and perhaps marscapone cheese). Finished the meal with a neatly presented grilled cobia(fish). Sadly, I didn’t have room for dessert. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the vicinity of Phoenixville.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and we were both thoroughly delighted with the food. We had a flatbread with prosciutto, peaches, goat cheese, and a few other things. Absolutely delicious. We also had frog legs for our second appetizer, which were to die for. My husband’s prime rib and my cioppino were excellent entrees. But the desert was probably my favorite part. We got a chocolate soufflé that came with this amazing caramel sauce that you can pour over it. Stupid good. The overall look of the restaurant is great and creates a lovely atmosphere for a nice, intimate dinner. I will definitively go again.

Excellent food! Extremely sub par service, long wait for food. My family of four came in for a 7:00 pm reservation on a weekday: fairly primetime slot. We ordered 4 courses off the menu, as suggested. The first course took approx 30 minutes to come out, after which things came out about as expected. We needed to call the waiter over to cork our byo wine, refill our water, order our food. Multiple other tables seemed to have the same experience. The waiter prioritized setting up other tables instead of attending to customers. At a less expensive restaurant, this would be forgiveable, but this restaurant was clearly aiming at something better. 2 stars because this restaurant performed below expectations. The quality, variety, and creativity of the food was quite good, worth the money.

One of my favorite restaurants in the area! If you’re a foodie like I am, they have a fantastic menu with creative specials. If they ever bring back the special with the scallops with pork belly(not sure what it was called), it’s a must try!

The food was delicious, just I’m not sure that 4 recommended courses is really needed when the same satisfaction could be achieved with 3 meals. This sounds like a way to ask for more money. Other than that, I loved every dish. The octopus, whole fish, and of course tuna are highly recommended!

Amazing find in Phoenixville. This is definitely a stand out for miles around. It’s a great BYOB that has items on the menu which you won’t find on a normal pub’s around the corner. The food is great, service is good and deserts are also well thought out.

One of our favorite restaurants in the area! The appetizers, soups and salads are always great! Had the tomato with balsamic appetizer tonite. Fantastic! My husband had the pork belly and scallop app-could have been a meal! My short ribs were delicious. The duck was so-so…wish they had better cuts of duck like they did back in 2006 when we found this place before the re-did their menu to offer lower pricing.

Dinner last night was awesome! From start to finish the food was great. The little amuse and a nice surprise. My octopus was tender and the accompanying chickpeas with feta made me wish I had a huge bowl of them. Spinach gnocchi was off the charts amazing! Artic char for dinner was light and delish. The desserts we ordered were ok. Chocolate soufflé was a little dry. Only feedback I wish to provide is about the way the menu was presented to us by our server He let us know that they reccomend we make a selection from sections 1 – 4 and that entrée and portion sizes are on the smaller side so we could choose from all categories. It’s ok that portions aren’t huge but I would like to be the one to decide which sections I order from for dinner. Felt a little like he wanted my bill to grow. Kinda a turn off for us. We will be back! With friends!

The chef, Andrew Deery, offers the most inspired cooking in the Philly suburbs. His combinations of flavors are awesome and intelligently used, and he always brings out the best qualities of each ingredient in every course — appetizer, entrée and even dessert. Favorites: raw oysters, Spanish octopus, veal sweetbreads, incredible soups, artic char, king salmon, butternut squash agnolotti, berkshire pork, chocolate soufflé, coffee-cardamom pots-de-crème.(this review is making me really hungry)… too many great things to describe. After all these years, Majolica is still the best in the burbs!

Our party had a reservation for this past Saturday evening from Open Table for 5:00PM. We were just getting ready to leave at 7:25PM when our waiter politely told us to leave. They needed to get ready for the second seating. After 30+ years of dining in fine restaurants, this was a first for me. I don’t care if the food was orgasm inducing, served on gold-leaf plates and presented by angels. I will NOT be returning to Majolica. I only wish the server did this prior to getting his $ 40 tip. The couple we were dining with just had their first child 17 days prior and were blessed to have an adults-only evening out. We even brought champagne to mark the occasion. The kicker is that there was a open table right next to us. Why couldn’t the party waiting for our table sit there? It was a lovely evening until the very end. This was an abomination and with so many other options in the area, I have no need to ever return.

What a great little BYOB in Phoenixville with excellent food and great service. My wife and I decided to have dinner here one Sat evening to celebrate her promotion at work. We wanted to go with the tasting menu and so I booked reservations thru Open Table. The verbiage that came back from Open Table indicated the tasting menu on Saturday wasn’t available until after 7:30, so we changed our reservations to a later time. Little did we know, the tasting menu is not offered at all on Saturday’s. Their web site is correct, but OpenTable was not. Anyway, just a heads up. So with no tasting menu available for us, we had the hard choice of deciding what to pick from the menu! I started off with the Cauliflower soup with Maryland crab while my wife went with the Pork Belly with scallops. My soup came out with lumps of crab and then they poured the soup into the bowl at the table. I’m generally not a big fan of scallops, but I actually liked the ones my wife had. Next we shared the pear and fig flatbread, which was simply delicious. I could have ate that all night long! For my entrée, I went with the Scottish salmon, which was a special that evening and my wife had the grilled beef short ribs. My salmon was good, but my wife had the better meal that evening. Although we were both full by the end of our dinner, we still went ahead and ordered dessert with myself getting the hazelnut cake and my wife with the chocolate soufflé with salted caramel ice cream. The dry hazelnut cake had multiple flavors including lavender and the soufflé and homemade ice cream was scrumptious. Once again, I think she got the better dessert. Throughout the meal, we got a few complimentary items including fresh baked bread, tuna tartare, and this yummy honeydew sorbet with fried prosciutto on top. I think I could have made a meal out of that sorbet! Service was excellent throughout our 2.5 hour meal. The small place was packed and everything seemed to be hustling throughout the night. In summary, an absolutely wonderful meal and we can’t wait to go back with friends of ours. Reservations strong recommended if coming on a Fri or Sat night.

Andrew is without a doubt one of the best chefs outside of the Philadelphia scene. We were seated for a Chef’s tasting and selected the 8 course — it did not disappoint. It started with a sashimi fluke in a beautiful white sauce, followed by oysters and a parade of increasingly sophisticated morsels. The English pea gazpacho with cream was subtle and reeked of summer. Follwed by oysters, and a amuse bouche of cantaloupe sorbe. A framed egg made with porkbelly and trumpet mushrooms? Get outa town! Anthony Bourdaine would have been proud. Grilled octopus that melted in our mouths. The coup de gras was lamb served over a chickpea and pearl pasta — uniquely delicious. Desert was made up of not one but two chocolate dishes that made my eyes roll into my head– decadent, rich and luscious, We complimented the meal with a bottle of good french Cotes de Rhone and a 2010 VaLa Cedar(nebbiolo) from my cellar.(Good wine from Avondale? Yup and I not crazy) Enjoyable from start to finish– Majolica is bringing some of the sophistication of center city dining to an area parched by pizza shops and sports bars. Keep it coming.
