TSC Mechanical

I’m not questioning the competency of TSC Mechanical but I do have issues with the professionalism and legitimacy of the recent service work performed. We recently had a smart thermostat installed. When our HVAC unit failed to turn on the heat the first time we used it, I thought perhaps the heat issue was related to the thermostat and I called TSC Mechanical. (For the record, when TSC Mechanical installed the thermostat they showed up as promised and the bill was actually just under what I was initially quoted)
On the heat related service call, Don from TSC informed me the heat pump had been neglected for some time and was in need of cleaning/​service. The heat issue he diagnosed as a TRX valve and estimated it would cost about $ 900 to replace. I informed him that the unit was covered under home warranty and specifically asked him not to perform any expensive repairs. Don explained that the units were likely at the end of their life and recommended they be cleaned/​serviced which I agreed to.
When presented the bill, I saw I was being charged $ 130 for a capacitor. I reminded Don that I didn’t want repairs done (just serviced) as the unit was under warranty. Don said the capacitor was reading zero so he had replaced it. OK, maybe I didn’t tell him soon enough or was clear enough? Adding to the list of gripes, I noticed after he had left that my garden hose he used was left strung out and still turned on. My ladder (which was used without asking) was still staged at the attic access panel as well and the panel was left off. (BTW, on the first visit he accessed the attic and I noted scuff marks on the access panel afterward.)
When another company later performed the warranty work to the heat pump to replace the valve, I told the technician that TSC Mechanical had told me it was $ 900 to replace the valve. The technician said the part was relatively inexpensive, though labor intensive, but he didn’t recommend calling that company back. Enough said — I won’t.

I wish I could give TSC 10 stars. They are the most reliable A/​C company I know. I’ve been doing business with Don and his family for 5 years. He works valley wide, his crew is very professional. Today I called him thinking my overflow for my A/​c was leaking and he was able to diagnose it and tell me it was not the A/​C it was the water heater. He was able to fix it on the spot and cost much less than I had expected. Do yourself a favor, call these guys when you need help with you a/​c!

Don responded like a flash to my cry for help in my sweltering house when my AC froze up! He got everything running again in an hour! He is definitely my favorite person right now!
