My dear sisters and brothers in Judaism, I write this review on Saturday, April 4 by the official count, the second seder, 2015. I must say this: please do not affiliate with Temple Chai. I did for several years, and I found that all they want is my money. This is a travesty of Judaism. You do not need to spend $ 50 to get a ticket to attend beer and cigar nights with the lady Rabbi. I don’t think that is what Judaism should be. All this is is a place where you can go to see and be seen, and if you would do so at gourmet eateries at least you get a good meal for your dollar. By the way, I have three masters degrees and a PhD. One of my Masters degrees is in pastoral care ethics spirituality. I interned at Temple Chai’s. Healing Center for Jewish pastoral care. It’s a show front; it does nothing. I assure you that I’m only writing this today, as a matter cocern fo5 what gives us a bad nake. Thank you and Baruch Hashem.

Temple Chai, a reformed synagogue, is my loving home synagogue. I’ve always felt welcome at Temple Chai and became a member in the summer of 2014. I enjoy nosh and fellowship. Temple Chai has a lot of activities. There’s something for everyone. I look forward to Sunday morning Torah study. I’m slowly catching on to singing in Hebrew. Oh how I look forward to welcoming the Sabbath at synagogue. All of my stress and cares disapate as I prepare to welcome the Sabbath. Since my conversion on 12/12/2014, Rabbi Bonnie addresses me by my Hebrew name, Eliana, «my God has answered«. Indeed, my God has answered! After years and years of searching… I have found home in reform Judaism.

Temple Chai is NOT a Conservative(capital C) congregation; it is Reform. It belongs to the Union of Reform Congregations. We haven’t belonged for many years(we joined briefly because Chai had the special needs b’nai mitzvah program in the Valley, and our son was special needs), but the reason we left to return to our former congregation was that Chai was too conservative(small c) for our taste. We preferred something more in the middle-of-the-road. That said, Chai has an excellent Shalom(healing) Center.

I tried out every temple in the valley when moving here in 2004. This a conservative temple. It’s is a bit different than what I grew up with in Cleveland. However, I have gotten to really like it through seeing my kids go through Hebrew school and the current planning of my sons Bar Mitzvah. There is a nice sense of community and you don’t have to break the bank like some of the other temples.(I should take a star away though for the mile high speed bumps, but that would be mean) :-)
