Selection is over priced and staff is rude. I found something in warehouse in the back. $ 3 pillow. They would not let me pay at the front register. It seems warehouse items must be purchased there. Someone should tell you that before you schlep it all the way through the back parking lot through thrift store. Left all my purchases at the register and walked out.

(I do not use my real name on line. Those in the Hospice will likely recognize me). Recently it was necessary for me to place my mother in a Hospice, which was arranged thru the hospital she was previously being treated in. I had long promised her that she would never go into an institutional place like a nursing home when the time came. We remembered how nice a Hospice was from an elderly friend we once knew who was in one. It’s like a hotel with people always available for you. We choose Ryan House. The staff there were caring, compassionate and informative. They followed suggestions I made to make my mothers last days more comfortable. The Nurses, Social Workers, Nurse Practitioner and other staff were very professional and helped my wife and I thru this process(although the actual doctor was no where to be seen nor answered messages, even though he signed the final forms). My mother was of very advanced age and I understood from the beginning that she was in her last days, so I wanted to do the right thing. I’m very, very comfortable that I did. Medicare covers this service while the status is «symptom management», but I would have paid out of pocket if more time was needed. I very highly recommend this facility, which also has a Children’s Hospice as well. Ryan House is part of the Hospices of the Valley network. I see a negative review on this page, unbelievable. This person was apparently not aware that a Hospice is for people who have elected to let God and nature take it’s course and have previously chosen a «do not resuscitate» status rather than use painful means to artificially extend a life that has lost it’s quality and awareness.

Hospice of the Valley is awesome! And the people from Hospice of the Valley are awe-inspiring! A few years ago my dad needed their help. They were amazing in how well and how smoothly they entered the picture and did their job. I recommend Hospice of the Valley to anyone who is in that kind of a situation. Additionally, the Social Worker who worked with my dad is NOT an MSW: He’s a Ph.D. in Social Work! When I asked him about that, telling him that I expected that a Ph.D. would be in a classroom teaching — not out in the field, he told me that while he had taught for a short time, he wasn’t happy teaching — instead of talking about it, he wants to be on the front lines doing it. I can’t overemphasize how good he is or how impressed I am.

Hospice of the Valley is one of those organizations you pray you and everyone you know will never have to use the services of. But if something happens and someone does, you’ll end up praying your thanks for them. Hospice is a wonderful organization. When someone has a life-limiting illness, and medicine is no longer an option, they will come into their home and help them to feel as pain-free and comfortable as possible until the transition is made. My mom’s best friend had breast cancer, and it got to the point that she needed Hospice to come in. They were there for her, and really did improve the condition of her life until she passed away. They not only help the patient though– they also offer counseling to those grieving the loss of a loved one. It must be so hard for the Hospice workers to go into a situation knowing the outcome isn’t going to be good(although in some cases, Hospice patients have been known to get better). But the Hospice staff does it day after day, and by being there for the patients and their family, they make everyone’s day a little brighter.
