Downtown Salon Phoenix

Only giving 3 stars because I thought it was EXTREMELY expensive. I ended up paying $ 65 with tip for gel nails. That’s crazy. Never again shop around. I do want to say the nail tech was very nice and professional.

Kelly did a great Brazilian blowout treatment for me. She was very helpful to make sure I am getting the treatment I am looking for. I really love the result and She was awesome. Recommend 100%

I don’t think my manicure was worth the high price point. They don’t even have fans to dry your nails.

Was looking for a nice salon close to home to get my hair done… I found it two blocks from home! Very impressed with their team. Great customer service and super friendly. Kelley was awesome and the straight razor clean up was perfect! See you all in a few weeks!

As a concierge, I send most of my guests here. Until recently I’ve only had body services done here (massage, facial), never yet my hair. (I’ve had the same 2 hairdressers for nearly 14 years, so you can understand my hesitation). I had a concierge event one night and was unable to get in with my regular girl, so I called up Downtown Salon, and made my appointment.
I first had a massage — of course! — with Casey. He was great! Then it was time for my hair with Kelley. I was super anxious because we were doing a color… well more them that. We were filling in my roots, doing a correcting color on the bottom and then trying to get everything one color… in 2 hours. Even though we didn’t get quite the outcome we were wanting, Kelley was able to get everything making sense again. She deserves a medal for that alone! My event went well, everyone loved my hair.
I came back at the end of the week to finish what we started, and now is exactly what we aimed for!
I can’t thank Casey & Kelley enough for making me feel amazing.
And on a professional note: Thank you to the whole DTSP staff for always taking the best care of my guests!

I have had my hair done at a few different salons around town but I finally found a place that is close to home and leaves me completely satisfied with the results. I found them through here, and was able to book a consultation for the next day. I met with Vieve and scheduled an appointment for the following week. I could NOT have been happier! I got a subtle ombré to let my natural color blend in and I could not have been better! I am completely in love with it weeks later and I even went in for the toner. My new favorite place. I won’t go anywhere else!

I came here for a trim. And came out feeling and looking like a princess.
I usually do not straighten my hair or do anything just wear it natural, and for the first time at a salon. they asked me how I like to wear it. (Usually bc I have super long hair they just automatically straighten it and continue my trim from there… its very annoying but I thought this was just the way things were done)
She put some great product in my hair and my natural wavey curls looked the best they have.
Fully recommend. I love this place. I found my new salon which is close to home!

I have had the pleasure of visiting Trankie’s salon throughout the years. If you prefer premier service, smiling faces, and a beautifully designed space… this is your place! Most recently, Kellie (Kelly sp?!) did an amazing job with my luscious locks. She has the style and vision to provide a killer look the first time. This kind of work typically takes (in my experience) hairstylists at other places a couple visits before finally getting the style being portrayed from the client. With an ideal location in the desert, I have no doubt you’ll leave looking hot hot hot. ;) Loving my new doo! Thank you!

Normal place was booked, so I turned to Unilocal.Read a lot of good things about Ruth, and luckily she was available. She was the sweetest lady ever! Not only sweet, she knew how to give an amazing men’s cut. I showed her some pictures my wife sent with me from Pintrest, and she showed me some pictures from Pintrest, and then we settled on a look. BEST HAIRCUT EVER! My wife approved and loved it. Ruth is my new hair lady.

Just had the most amazing facial with Nicole. My skin feels and looks amazing. She started with a very detailed consultation and made recommendations on what would be the best products for my sensitive and oily skin. She was really great at making sure I was comfortable while she did my extractions. I’m really stoked about the product line she used. My skin is just glowing. Thanks Nicole!!!

The best place in town where you can have your recovery massage. Trankie is the best !

This place is phenomenal!!! And Always spot on with my color thanks Ruth and Trankie for always making time for me and always fun catching up with the new hair product as well!

I was in PHX for the Super Bowl — had a red carpet affair and had a 30 minute window to get a haircut with no notice. And the solon was in the heart of the festivities. I can’t believe they squeezed me in! And I got one of the best stylists I’ve ever seen. Super fun, incredibly talented and so knowledgeable about my hair and the product it needs. She was FANTASTIC. Kelley F — cutest thing behind a pair of scissors, too. She’s great.

I came here to get my hair styled before an event. Not only did I get a different style than what I asked for, but it looked AWFUL. I was very specific with what I wanted, and I even brought in a photograph. My stylist promised me she could do it (just basic loose curls in long hair). When she was finished with my hair, she pretended as though she didn’t notice anything was wrong, and when I asked her why it looked different, she just dusted my roots with a volumizing powder and told me to scrunch it every once in a while. I was SO disappointed. If you’re ever traveling for an event and staying at the Hyatt here, make sure you have a plan b if you’re going to go to this salon.
UPDATE: A few weeks after this, the salon owner, Trankie, messaged me and asked if I would call him. He said he was extremely sorry that I had this experience. He wanted to hear about everything that went wrong and he was patient, kind, and considerate. He offered to refund my money too (although he strongly implied that this would be done in exchange for me taking down my original review). I think that good customer service is almost as important as the goods & services that businesses offer… so I changed my star rating on this review from a one to a three.

I new I was in for a treat when the receptionist who greeted me was professional.
She referred me to who she thought would best suit my needs for color and cut. Upon entering the very convienemt, clean and refined salon, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and made to feel comfortable.
She recommend Ruth and I got a thorough consultation which led to a beautiful weave and blow dry. We talked about product to use on my hair and she recommended a wonderful Neuma shampoo and conditioner, but did not pressure me in to buying it. On my next visit, as my level of trust was heightened to a new degree, I decided to go with an Ombré. Ruth knocked it out of the park and a few years off of my age as well. I never let my old stylist blow dry my hair but Ruth did so well at it I come regularly for blowouts now ! I love my new look!

Had a killer massage this weekend with Trankie! I just moved back to Phoenix from Seattle and needed to find a new salon/​spa and I think I can mark this off my list of things to do when moving.
Honestly one of the best massages I’ve had in decades! I asked for a firm medium pressure and it’s exactly what I got. My neck, my back, my quads, and hamstrings were all sore from the move and these hikes I’ve been doing. I felt so relaxed and was no longer tense. Its been two days and I still feel incredible and relaxed.
You can count on me going back, it’s a great spot in downtown tons of things to do, places to eat, etc. Parking was easy so no issues there either!

UH-​MAZING!!! I came here because a friend had recommended Ruth and my normal guy was busy. I was reluctant to have a new stylist as I ALWAYS have bad luck with haircuts! Like really, it’s awful how bad it has been. So… I trusted her. I will never go anywhere else for a haircut again. Ruth is NOT allowed to retire EVER. She listened to what I wanted, gave me feedback and set me on a different path. I LOVED my haircut when I left and have only grown to love them more each time I come in. I completely trust her with my hair. So much so, that I let her choose a new style this last time I went in and as you can imagine… she ROCKED it!
Ruth is an amazing hairstylist and person! She’s engaging and so friendly! You can tell she genuinely cares about her job and the people she is working with. I also have to add: Her haircuts are the only haircuts I have ever had where people consistently tell me, «Your hair looks great!», «Who cuts your hair???», «That’s such a great haircut for you!». Did I mention she’s amazing and that I’ll never go anywhere else? I think I did!
If you’re thinking about trying this salon, DO IT!!! All of the staff is extremely professional and inviting. The salon looks amazing and is convenient to park at considering it is downtown. You will not be disappointed in taking a chance on a new place here!

I’ve been going to Downtown Salon for few years now and I absolutely love that place.
They have very friendly staff and Kelly, who cuts my hair is phenomenal. Her attention to detail and skills are absolutely outstanding. Highly recommended !!

I followed my stylist Christia here; she is absolutely amazing and truly listens to her clients! She transformed my faded, in-​need-​of-​TLC hair color into the most beautiful balayage ever! As far as the salon goes, it is in a great location and carries great product! Everyone that works there is super friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed yet upbeat… (i.e. no salon drama.)
Book your next appointment with Christia at downtown salon, she will not disappoint!

After living downtown for quite some time I had passed this salon what must be thousand of times, but never stopped in due to having a stylist in tempe that I have grown extremely loyal to.
This all changed this week as my stylist decided change salons, which meant I to was changing salons. As luck would have it her new salon was the very one i had walked by frequently but now had reason to stop In.
It’s cleaner, friendly, and has convenient parking all around. They have great products, and of course the best stylist in the west, Christia.
Do yourself a favor and give this salon a spin. Don’t forget to ask for Christia. Shes the best. Ever.
