I used Pat Dean for my landscaping and waterfall in 2010 when he was in business with Josh Walker as Walker Landscaping. Work was not done as promised. The porch addition will have to be ripped out and re-done. They used fill dirt to bring the elevation up and then laid the patio stone. They just did not compact the fill dirt. Now it has settled several inches and my porch is falling in on itself. One of our $ 500.00 trees died within the warranty period and I could never get them to replace it. Fill dirt for planting beds was contaminated with grass and we are still fighting the grass in the planting beds to this day. Waterfall was not built as promised and can’t be used because all the water leaks out within a few minutes.

Walk, don’t run. Total rip-off artist. Takes half-deposit up front and never completes the job.

I had been calling landscaping companies around the Austin area to come look at our backyard and give us a bid. No one would come out! One day I saw a guy with a landscaping magnet on his truck door so I asked him if they had time to come look. He gave me his card and told him to call the next day which I did. Pat came to our house and I immediately liked him. He wasn’t pushy and didn’t attempt to sell us anything we didn’t want. He asked a lot of questions and came back with a great plan for our backyard/pool area. Pat, Steve and their crew did a remarkable job and finished the entire project within a matter of days. Thanks to Pat Dean and his crew, our pool area looks like the oasis we’ve always pictured it as being. Great price… fulfilled promises… over delivered… accepted last minute changes without any issue! I’d recommend Pat Dean to anyone who is wanting an outstanding service at an outstanding price!

It’s now been a few months since Pat Dean and his crew finished our landscaping. The pond less waterfall has had issues including collapsing(which he sent someone over to fix.) Many of the plants have died. Pat hasn’t returned calls. I don’t even want him to come back for warranty work… I’m really disappointed… he half assed it.

Pat Dean and his crew did a poor job on my landscaping and i had to go behind them and finish the work. His communication skills are poor, he did not give us a list of what he was planting or a finalized plan, he was three weeks late; his people weren’t supervised and there was no attention to detail. We went over the project afterwards and he had a punch list that he promised to follow up. They never showed. Some of the stepping stones have cracked because they were just thrown in and not properly seated. The workers left a mess and did not clean up daily. The zoysia installation is the only thing they did right. All in all, I would not recommend him because of his poor customer service, communication, and attention to detail.

We have used Pat Dean and his landscapers twice in the last 2 ½ years. Obviously, if we had not been happy the first time, when we once again needed landscaping after the devastating Bastrop wildfire this past fall, we would not have called him again. This past September, Pat came out to Bastrop, looked at our yard which had been burnt on 3 sides to the foundation of our house, and started giving us ideas. The tall pines and oaks were gone — but he painted the picture of a yard that would once again be a pleasure to look at. During the process if we had questions or concerns Pat answered phone calls and emails immediately and made sure that all work was done to our satisfaction. I am happy to report that our yard now IS a pleasure to look at. Pat did everything as he said he would, putting in large beds of mulch and riverrock with beautiful large trees and shrubs, a dry creekbed to divert runoff, sod, and fencing. Whenever we are out in our yard people stop to tell us how beautiful the yard looks. The original work we had done by Pat Dean and company in December, 2009, was a stone patio on the back of our house. It is a beautiful extension of our home, and handles the runoff from even our heaviest Texas downpours diverting the water away from the house. In both instances Pat Dean has proved to be knowledgeable, honest, responsive, capable — and a nice guy to do business with.
