I have never had an mri before so I was nervous. The staff is very friendly and reassuring. The mri room is nice and open, well lit. The machine is open so it was akin to getting a CT scan as far as feeling enclosed goes. The machines are loud as mri machines tend to be but they give ear plugs and eye covers. The technician gave me a pillow for my feet and a blanket during mri as well which was appreciated

GOHEREIFYOUNEEDANMRI. Seriously – great people, newest equipment, chocolate! I had an open MRI a few years ago and didn’t like it – made me feel bad – like the fillings in my teeth were being pulled out slowly, and my muscles were put in a microwave. Tried to have a «closed» MRI last week. Now – I’m not claustrophobic, I’ve been in many tight places(literally, not figuratively), and I enjoy them. But the closed MRI made me feel like I was being buried alive or stuffed into a meat grinder. I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I felt nauseous… It was a traumatic experience that upset me for days. So I was referred to Petaluma Open MRI and I saw on their web site that their open MRI room has WINDOWS so you can LOOKATTREES and not feel the least bit claustrophobic! But more than that – they have really, really nice people. Gentle. Kind. Considerate. The woman who ran the MRI itself couldn’t have been nicer, made me so comfortable with pillows all around that I didn’t feel like moving. With my head to the left I could see the trees and feel fine – and this new Hitachi machine was quieter and more focused than the previous MRI I had. It didn’t make my fillings heat up or my muscles feel bad. It was easy! Then, when you’re done, they have a bowl of chocolate so that just like in Harry Potter, you can banish any lingering dementor(though you probably won’t have any). Why go anywhere else? This makes an MRI simple, comfortable – even pleasant! YAY!
