Like fine wood, Made in Pescadero has improved with age. This always beautiful craftsman furniture store has grown up to also include an extensive selection of gallery quality home design accessories and jewelry. Made in Pescadero is basically a juried American craft show under one roof. The carefully selected works are locally made, high quality, and span all price points. This year I was able to find several affordable holiday gifts for hard-to-buy-for-friends that ranged in price from $ 24 to $ 65. Whether in the market to buy or not, this is a fun place to browse. The current collection of wall art is especially impressive.

When I dream of premium hand-crafted redwood furniture my mind goes straight to Made In Pescadero. I grew up in the redwoods. Wherever I go I can’t get over how redwood is superior. But if your looking for other items like artwork or décor you can find it here.

The knicky knacks are wonderful here. If I had a registry somewhere, I’d put the banana slugs and squid items from Mae In Pescadero on there.

Beautiful furniture in tiny Pescadero. This store has some really great artisan wood tables and chairs, bed frames, etc. Top notch quality. They also sell some pottery by local artists.

It’s rare when you expect a lot and it turns out even better than you ever imagined. We are beyond happy!!! Beautiful craftsmanship with the highest possible quality. Functional art that we will enjoy for a lifetime.

My husband and I had visited this store a couple of times, while waiting for a table next door at Duarte’s. We fell in love with the furniture right away, but being quite pricey, it was more of a dream for the future. Well, when we re-did the floors in our house, we decided we would go with a new dining room table and chairs from this store. Needless to say, we walked in just to get ideas, and walked out with our credit cards deeply impacted and a table and chairs on order. When they arrived 3 months later, they did not disappoint. Absolutely magnificent, is all I can say. We bought a mahoganey dining table and 8 chairs in cherry. The amish make the chairs. They are both comfortable and elegant. The table is absolutely the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen. For weeks, I have enjoyed coming home to the smell of the freshly laquered wood. For anyone who has a decent amount of money to put into furniture, i think this is the only place to go.

What a unique shop! There is a distinct style to the woodwork here. Although you have to be very committed to that style to pay those prices, the beauty of the woodwork is undeniable. The polished bowls were exceptionally amazing.

The items in this store are absolutely amazing, and all very unique due to the fact that they’re all hand-made. The craftmanship, the choices of wood, the art… it’s all pretty awesome. But even more amazing are the price tags. OUCH. There’s a rocking loveseat we liked… but it costs more than a full leather sectional. A small polished walnut bowl? $ 295. Jesus. A lovely place to stop in and look, but for normal people, not a reasonable choice when doing some furniture shopping.

Review based on a visit to the shop, not a purchase… need to wait for a bit more money first. You’re left to just wander around and admire the gorgeous furniture. We started talking to a lady who works there… who told us that everything on the floor is just to ‘get your ideas flowing’, and that you can come in with your own ideas for a piece. All pieces are made next door(in the other half of the building). Even though we haven’t bought anything there, definitely a place worth knowing about(and a place to take the wood-furniture-making-father-in-law)!

I almost avoided this place because of the name. «Made in Pescadero» is about as much of an advertisement for quality as «Sung by Paris Hilton», considering the general tackiness, disrepair, and quaint fail of the surrounding cluster of old buildings that makes up the rest of the so-called downtown. But OMG, after your eyes adjust to the relative darkness inside. If you have a lot of money you can buy huge chunky furniture built to last several lifetimes. Dressers, couches, and chairs start at about a thousand dollars and go up to eight thousand. There are some little boxes for fifty to two hundred, and I found a wooden cooking spoon for forty-two. If you just want to look, touch, and gawk, it will also do as a museum. The precision and detail in the craftsmanship are amazing — things are so round, smooth, and polished, you never realized wood can look so beautiful. There are several craftsmen who display work here, some of it made in a wood shop next door. The staff knows everyone in town and can tell you a lot about every one of the pieces. Definitely a place to check out, this was a highlight of my day trip to Pescadero, that and the goats.

World’s biggest banana slug. Ever. And so cuddly, too! Made in Pescadero is primarily a place to admire/covet the drop-dead gorgeous, sleekly-designed, handmade furniture items(beds, desks, dressers, tables) that fill its workshop-like, twin-level display space. But there is so much more. That’s where the slug comes in. So, if you look really carefully(or ask a helpful staffer), you will find the«original Santa Cruz Mountain» banana slug door draft thingie.* It is filled with sand or beans and looks as cute as it is functional when it comes to keeping pesky cold air from slipping beneath the cracks. Beware of cheap imitations! When it comes to door draft thingies, you want to go only with the best. Maybe you don’t find banana slugs all that adorable(unless you went to UC-Santa Cruz), but they have grown on me. Since moving to Northern California, I have learned to live with the«slugs in the mist» that come out from the underbrush when the fog and rain make the mountains wet and soggy. But at $ 45, it’s not a cheap slug, either. Maybe for my birthday, though … You need to stop at Made in Pescadero if you actually make it all the way out here to this lovely roadtrip rest stop along the coastal highway, CA-1. Main street Pescadero ain’t all that big, and this is a really wonderful space where some of the artists and furniture-makers have their studios and can talk with you about custom-designed items using all sorts of wood grains and techniques. The jewelry displays are excellent and affordable, as are the many fine wooden spoons and random kitchen utensils. Local artwork, from oil paintings to photographic reproductions, fill the walls and also would make a great memento of your visit to Pescadero. MiP is the perfect antidote to all the IKEAs and Thomas Kincaid stores out there(yes, they really do exist!). And Pescadero is not just about the artichokes. If you can make the time and have the cash to pick up some of these unique pieces to add character and class to your home or apartment, do it! But leave me the banana slug door draft buddy, OK? (*) Note: This is the technical name for it, you realize.

Beautiful furniture! Also wonderful architecture within the store. Really pretty to look at all of the wood peaces. Bring your wallet, perfect place to find unique furniture that is not found in all of the catalogs of big chain stores.

The wood furniture in here is absolute delicious. It’s all locally handmade and they can do custom pieces. It’s kind of a modern craftsman look. The art on the walls was actually really cool too. All in all, this is very different from what you would expect to find in most coastal towns that depend on tourists for income. I wish I had more $ to spend on things like this!

I was once a woodshop counselor which gives me great appreciation for the artistry of the pieces at Made in Pescadero. As you browse through the shop, you feel compelled to touch all the beautiful wooden furniture. I’ve never bought anything since it’s all very expensive, but it’s still a fun place to visit. It will rekindle your inspiration for setting up that woodshop in your garage.

You would never expect to find a store like this in Pescadero. Ultra-High end furniture in a big barn of a space. Everything costs a lot and I wonder how is actually buying this work, Woodsiders, Athertonians, Menlo Parkians. All others would be out of the price range. The woods used are incredibly beautiful and expensive. The prices took my breath away and that doesn’t include delivery,(scratch-free) delivery. All in all, very artsy designs next to simple dressers and bed frames. Personally, I don’t have the cash or the desire to have goods of this quality. But it is beautiful. Stop by, ask questions of the friendly staff and see for yourself.

A great selection of wood furniture of style and quality. A lot of handmade potteries from local artists. Had to get the dragonfly mud b/c it’s so pretty though it’s a little expensive! Also the Pinocchio wine stopper but be careful not to break his nose. It’s made by an artist of 87 years old.

Made in Pescadero makes high quality Craftsman-type furniture and associated housewares. I like this well made«country» style and only with that they would have an occasional sale or offer«seconds» so that I could better afford this! And the cost to have it delivered… Nonetheless, it’s fun to look around and the folks who work here are friendly and passionate about what they do. The showroom is well lit and presented. On my last trip(while waiting for our time on the Duarte’s wait list), I bought a very nice wood mouse pad. Who knows what I’ll work myself up to next time!

Made in Pescadero carries a good selection of mostly natural cherry Craftsman– and Arts&Crafts-style furniture, lamps and decorative housewares, and some jewelry. If you like Thomas Moser furniture, you owe yourself a stop by Made In Pescadero, too. A few years ago, I bought a beautiful cherry-wood dresser here and wish I had bought the two of them they had in stock. Delivery over the hill to Menlo Park was prohibitively expensive, so I ended up paying a private service to pick it up for me, and the store was quite accommodating. When buying things, I’ve had great personal service here, but on an average weekend one can get the ordinary tourist treatment. When I went in this past weekend, the furniture on the floor seemed more basic and less artistic(see picture #2 vs. picture #1) than I’ve seen before, but that may just have been a product of what has or hasn’t sold recently.
