This coffee house is so cute and welcoming! They have a super friendly staff, and a nice ambiance. I came here in between class/work because I had a 2 hour break and this was the perfect spot. I will definitely be coming here again! AND my Vanilla Chai was DELICIOUS!

I stopped in at Java Grounds for the first time while on a walk and after a brief conversation with the owner I will make Java Grounds my coffee shop of choice. He filled my 24oz mug with iced coffee for very cheap and then explained how the Java Grounds funds youth athletic programs, provides scholarships, and provides job opportunities to young adults through weekend breakfast bars. Joe seems to be a very genuine guy and I am glad I stopped by.

This coffee shop is really great. They organized it well. The drinks are pretty good and reasonable price. Nice people working here. Definitely be back for more

I love local coffee places. This place is great and the people are friendly. I am all about it. We had frozen yogurt and coffee and both were excellent. Go local!

I am blessed to have found this place. At first it was the fact that they were a local business that served gluten and dairy alternatives that brought me here. Once in I learned the mission behind Java Grounds… inner city kids. This is also a passion of mine. This place is a beacon of light in our community. A family atmosphere where the friendly staff know your name. I can’t rave about it enough. Will be back often.

The baristas here are awesome! I would go out of my way to come here over Starbucks any day!

Starbucks is overrated!!! This boutique barista hangout is fantastic. Inviting, cozy and great coffee. They have such a simple yet diverse menu. My favorite is the Old Town. Only place I’ve ever found a peanut butter coffee. They’re very creative and unique with their concoctions. They have a raspberry white chocolate one too that I’m crazy about too. Today I tried their new chocolate gluten-free cookie. Amazing! They’re service is just as good. They have a young team that is very personable and eager to please. I sometimes go in half asleep and always leave in a good mood. Buy local! Put your money back into your community!

Great little place with awesome food(like, they literally make it from scratch) and great drinks, too. I highly recommend this place. Cool atmosphere. Also love that it benefits a great cause.

Although the coffee here is good, when I came here there were dirty tables and the display case with pastries was practically empty. They seemed to be short staffed so getting my food took longer than I had expected. I love the cause but I was overall underwhelmed.

I had high expectations coming into this place, the display case was not flowing with pastries when you first walk in, and I felt as though I was limited in what I could order from. The smoothie I ordered was pretty good but it took a while for me to get it and the muffin, and also there was more than one unoccupied dirty table that I was surrounded by which was very unpleasant.

I got the Prickly Pear, it is exactly what it says it is. It was missing a balance between the flavors and the coffee itself but it was still a good drink. I did not taste the food but it looked great. It is a great place to sit back and lounge or meet at with great service. They were super friendly and very caring! I was happy to see how interactive and how integrated they are with their neighborhood, being on a first name basis and showing interest in the families. It IS a neighborhood coffee shop, a quirky little place to enjoy a good drink and/or small meal with people who know you. Let’s not forget the cause behind this little place, their workings in Heart for the city, helping inner city kids. Based on my experience I WILL be returning.

I dread coming here, I’m sorry to say. It’s only out of sheer necessity that I have. I love the cause behind this establishment but the service is usually off. Customers morph in servers then morph back into customers, the coffee isn’t worth standing in line for. If you really just want a quick cuppa coffee — go into the Starbucks at Fry’s — quick, fast and friendly.

Great Place. I have been by several times but never stopped. Had a chance to go there with a group of guys to meet up and chat. The ambience and size was better than expected. Everyone was friendly. Service was good and they had patience with us checking out a new menu. I got a regular coffee with room and almost got the breakfast deal but was not hungry at the time. Oh well, I will try that next time. Good flavor on the coffee and quick service. Enjoyed our time there very much. Price was decent even with a tip. I will review again upon my next visit and try some food as well.

I really wanted to like this place. When I went in, there were tons of tables. A good place to meet with a study group or just chat with girlfriends over coffee. There was also what looked like an omelette bar. It’s clear Java Grounds is striving to be more than just a coffee house. It’s part coffeehouse, part brunch restaurant, I guess: P. Anyway, the service, ambiance, and seating was great. The reason the rating is only 3 stars is because I didn’t like my actual drink. That should comprise a pretty big portion of the rating, right? I ordered a soy spice chai latte. It was extremely watered down. I think the barista kept adding more milk and ice to fill up the cup. Since the ice melted almost immediately, even though I drank my latte right away, I could barely taste any spice or chai flavor. Extremely disappointing since I ordered spice intentionally because I love a flavorful chai. Definitely not worth $ 3.80(including tip). Cute concept, but I will definitely not order a chai again.

Just can’t do it anymore. The place is a circus. The owner released the two men who knew anything about running a business and now it’s just… Bummer, it was my only real independently owned coffee shop anywhere near me. I’d rather force myself to learn to love McDonald’s coffee. Great for your bible study groups though; complete with blaring Christian music all the bible thumpers have to scream over. I’ve gone through this business watching it change hands a few times and now it is time for me to exit.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s not on the menu but they serve a great cold pressed coffee which can be difficult to find. The frittatas are top notch, grab the egg white one if they have it w/some salsa. The environment is always fun and inviting. There can be a wait when they get busy. Watch out for Amanda behind the counter, jokes fly indiscriminately. This place is also a non-profit and is used as a work program for inner city kids and benefits Heart for the City in Glendale. Can’t ask for much more, awesome product, great environment, meaningful purpose.

I cannot say enough great things about Java Grounds. They’re a local non-profit coffee shop with a great cause, & my drink costs seriously half the price of what I would pay at any chain shop.(Not that I would even mind paying the same; I like knowing my money is supporting something great here) Joe, Chad, Amanda, & Monique are all rock stars, make great recommendations, & get to know their regulars quickly. Within two weeks or so of coming here regularly, they all knew my name, & would have my drink ready for me before I got to the counter! JG’s only downside is that they can get a little busy in the mornings, so you do have to plan for a little extra time if you’re going to stop in between 7 – 8:30am when everyone is on their way to work but that is my ONLY complaint. I love love love it here, & added bonus: they have specialty milks like soy, almond, AND rice milk!
