1st i must say, this review is 100% directed at the restaurant at the hyvee in peoria, il. They were out of most everything we requested, including tap beer. The food we did order came out incorrect from what we had placed as our order. It took a very long time for the food to come out, and as we were there for an hour and 15 mins total, the manager(who’s a total slime ball and needs fired and im sure reviews like this wouldnt happen) was at our table for the better part of an hour(including while we were eating and waiting) hitting on my wife. It happens because she is very attractive and it usually dont bother me, but this was very excessive. If not for my step son and step daughter being there he wouldnt have teeth left. Terrible service, left the restaurant so angry i wanted to fight, and its all thanks to the broadway king himself that runs the place. If a higher up from hyvee is reading this, you really need to get rid of him. Hes a horrible person and is giving your good store a bad name, because trust me im letting everyone i know be informed about what happened to me at your restaurant. I wont be back and im sure nobody i talk to will either because who would want to deal with that?

There wasn’t a separate section for the Market Grille so I’ll assume it falls under the management and whoever really cares. I’ve eaten in here about 10 times. They have free pen and paper trivia on Wednesday nights at 7. Around that time they either have an all you can eat boneless or boneful chicken wings or nacho taco bar. I like those. Outside of this is s grand buffet as well. It’s all behind glass so you can’t grab the items yourself but the people behind it will. Just tell them you ordered the buffet. I’ve done this twice thus far. If you’ve read my other reviews you know I don’t fill my belly with salad or carrots when I intend to defile myself. So I’m not rating that section. However the giant meat ball the 6 bone slab or ribs the brisket the pulled pork are outstanding. Then you can get Chinese food. Crab Rangoon egg rolls chicken egg rolls are all great. Also there’s pizza. I enjoyed the cheeseburger pizza. On one particular occasion during trivia night I won a free pizza coupon. I got that the next week. The menu pizza isn’t buffet pizza. It was excellent. Top 5 in the area for me. It’s served on a pan which is set on like an 8 inch table like thing I guess. It’s hard to explain. I don’t know if that’s for the pizza or to make you feel like a king maybe. The staff are nice people. If you ever have time at least go here and compare the pizza to some of your area favorites and put your thoughts here.

This review is for the Market Grille(Café) not the grocery store. I have visited the Market Grille 2 times in the past week and each time ordered from the Chinese counter. I will first say that I had previously eaten at the store many times when it had casual dining where you walked around to get the food you wanted, paid for it at the counter and found a seat to enjoy your selections. I found this style to be much better than the more formal way they are doing business now. In fact, I would have rated the old style of service and food a 4 out of 5 both in food and service. This new format is very disappointing to me primarily because of the wait times at each interval, First I went to the Chinese food counter to get my food because I much prefer to see the selections before ordering and I am going during my lunch break with limited time. Anyway I selected my meal and it was boxed up in good time. However, I could not pay for my selection there as I could in the past and there was no option for informal seating where I could eat my lunch. So I went to the Market Grille seating area where I had to wait for someone to seat me which took about 5 – 10 minutes which seemed longer since I was holding my food as I waited. Then I was seated and my drink was brought to me and I had to ask for silverware. After that was brought I was finally able to eat my meal. The food was good, I had Hunan chicken, fried rice and an egg roll and I would give it a 4 out of 5. I then need to get back to work but my waiter was no where to be found so I walked up to the counter to pay, they had to find my waiter to get my bill so I could pay and had another wait at the payment time. I finally paid and was on my way feeling frustrated with what use to be a very pleasant dining experience where I served myself, had a good lunch and was on my way in less than half an hour. This time it took 45 – 50 minutes. I decided to give it another try a few days later but this time take my food and eat it in the car. So I went to the Chinese counter selected my food and was told I could pay at the Grille counter, I went to the Grille counter and had to wait while they seated someone else and was then told I had to pay at the checkout line. I then went to the checkout line and had to wait again as people paid for their groceries and the person in front of me wrote a check(very slowly I might add). As I am waiting, I see a manager so I mentioned to him my frustration with the new system and he tells me I could have paid at the Grille counter. I am then next in line so I pay for my food and tell the manager that they need to tell the people at the Grille counter that because they told to go to the checkout line. Anyway, I do not plan to return here to eat anymore. it will be much quicker to just go to a Chinese restaurant from now on. I was a bit taken back by the attitude of the manager who did not seem at all to be interested in my experience or feedback.

I like this store. It has a big organic food section and a really, really good salad bar. That said, their dairy is not as competitively priced as Kroger’s. They do have pretty good in house sushi and big vegetable and meat departments. Just be sure to check ads before you go on. I once thought they had a great price on steak until I realized it was a price for one 8 oz. steak, not per pound. When it comes to bakery, their cupcakes are very dry and pretty awful(even the new mini cupcakes), but their donuts are very good. Staff is really friendly here and seems to know their products.

We used the HyVee bakery for our wedding cake. It was delivered on time, it looked beautiful, and it was delicious.

I used to shop here, but I don’t anymore. The prices and selection are good, but there always seems to be one product that they don’t have in their system, so they have to call somebody to the front, and have them run back and check the price, all while holding up my checkout and the people in line behind me. After the third time I decided that was enough. I even emailed the store manager but he never got back to me.

I recently moved to the area from the East Coast and I am going through serious Wegmans withdrawal. It’s the best grocery store ever and I miss it. While Hy vee does not fill the Wegmans shaped hole in my heart, it’s as good as it gets in Peoria. I normally shop at Kroger and there are some things I am not able to find. We were able to find these things(like steel cut oats, some vegetarian stuff) at Hy vee. I wasn’t super impressed with their produce prices. The prices were decent on the organic section and the selection was good. I will definitely be back for certain items. I’ll have to check out the Wine and Spirits section next time.

I love Hy-vee. Peoria loves Hy-vee so much they’re building a new one, hopefully and even bigger one. The store is clean, the employees don’t seem miserable, and the lines are so short I don’t have enough time to read my gossip magazines. The prices are pretty good and you don’t have to have some stupid shoppers card or be strategic about what you can buy because something isn’t on sale this week. NEVER buy the generic Hy-vee brand. If you are tempted, go ahead and buy the Sandies pecan cookies and then buy the hyvee brand. Not even close to the same thing. They have a very nice organic food section and a very nice liquor department. You can also get all sorts of cooked food there, Chinese food, Italian food, Southern food, Salad bar. They have these short carts as an option that I like to use because I usually don’t buy a lot at once anyway and it’s nice to not have to swing this long cart around and worry about blocking people. There are tiny shopping carts for children which could be a potential problem but fortunately, and this is the biggest reason I go to Hy-vee, you don’t have a lot of trashy or ghetto people going to Hy-vee. They’re all at Wal-mart still or Kroger waiting in lines a mile long. And in a place like Peoria you need to be grateful every time you find a place like that.

The Wine & Sprits section rocks! And here’s the top 3 reasons why: 1) Separate entrance. No time-wasting traipsing through the whole grocery store like Schnucks and Kroger. Always close parking, get in-get the beer-get out and get partying! 2) The staff is specific to this department only. So they know stuff. A lot of stuff actually. I was sent in by a friend to buy…*shudder*… sparkling sweet red wine. That was my only clues and I was immediately shown 2 varieties. They have wine tasting all the time at the counter where I learned about oaked vs. unoaked chardonnays and merlots. These guys are equal to the amazing knowledge also held by the wine section employees at UFS only Hy-Vee is not in the ghetto! SCORE! 3) Um, it’s cheap. Cheaper than WalMart, cheaper than Friar Tucks, cheaper than the gas station. My fav specialty beer is a $ 1.00 less here than anywhere else and is sometimes on sale for even less! Their hard liquors go on sale on a regular rotation so if you go about once a week you can stock a whole bar for $ 5 less on average per bottle.

Hy Vee must really take care of their employees cause everyone is always helpful and in a good mood when I go shopping there. The bakery makes great french breads and it’s the best place to buy Kitchen Cooked chips at least a dollar cheaper then anywhere else.

I am from Chicagoland, and I had never heard of HyVee until one of my friends told me about it. I was hesitant about coming here at first because I didn’t think there would be a huge difference between them and any other grocery store, but I was totally wrong. As a Bradley college student that typically doesn’t buy real groceries, I was truly amazed at what HyVee had to offer. Its a very huge store with large selection of groceries, but what I most enjoy is their bakery, and cooked foods. They have cooked Chinese, American, and Italian food daily, that tastes great and is affordable. You can take the food home, or you can eat in at one of their comfortable booth’s or table’s.

IMO, best grocery market in Peoria. This location is fairly new and larger than most other supermarkets with a good selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, and natural/organic products at a fairly economical price. Great place to shop if you’re interested in healthy food — discovered so much new stuff I really love here The shop itself is well lighted and comfortable. In terms of selection, price, and friendliness it definitely comes out on top — won’t be like Wal-mart where you have to wait in long lines for check out — often employees are waiting for you so you don’t even have to wait in line!
