Awesome place! Great music and atmosphere, and everything is house-made. Perfect study and social environment

This place is as expensive as Starbucks, but you get a much, much better atmosphere and a player piano! If you’re a chocolate lover, try the Shakespeare; you’ll love it.

One of the best things about Pensacola. I usually get the Poe, but everything is good, and you can’t beat the atmosphere for studying or just relaxing. Go there.

I checked this place out to do some studying. It’s right next to Pensacola Christian University so expect lots of church things to be occurring while you’re here like life-coaching, praying, people reading the bible, etc. There’s a piano in the corner that you can play. One annoying thing is that you have to buy something which will get you only 1 hour of wifi. You have to make another purchase if you want more. 1 hour is just not enough so you might have to annoyingly get up after a short time and spend more money that you don’t want to spend. I’m not saying cheat the system, but is the wifi so valuable that someone can’t spend like $ 10 on some food/coffee and not be able to have at least 5+ hours of wifi? You basically feel like a sucker here if you want to use internet for more than an hour. Money hungry religious people – churches aren’t even taxed, damn. In heaven the wifi is probably really fast and free for everyone no matter race/ethnicity/color/creed. I don’t recommend coming here if you need to sit for more than an hour doing internet things.

Friendly people, great atmosphere, and great coffee. This place is a little hard to see but is on your right, upstairs directly after the toll booths on your way in. Skip the normal corporate coffee shop and support Pensacola locally owned business with a great view of the bay and boat slips. Did I mention the coffee is good and they’ve got a GREAT breakfast? Would love to see some variety in the types of coffee beans offered and brewing styles, but that’s just the coffee snob coming out in me. Best coffee in Pensacola regardless.

The drinks are super well made. In my opinion they are Starbucks quality. The difference? The atmosphere is so much cozier and more friendly and personal. The food they serve is delicious. It’s worth the price and the serving portions are perfect. One of the biggest draws to The Drowsy Poet is that they have live music sometimes. I really enjoy that aspect of the restaurant. I also like the player piano that they have. It’s a great place to hang out or study.

Coffee was delicious. My boyfriend had the fisherman I had the scones. All the food was excellent. Scones are made by a woman from England and wow they’re so good! Moist not dry like American scones. Great flavor. Sat on deck with our dog looking out on water

Was going to a lecture and thought I would stop in and grab something unique. This is the place to sit down and do exactly that. I ended up getting the Byron which is a chai tea drink. They have the coffee roaster right there in the building to see and the atmosphere is definitely what you would expect from the name. Lots of comfy chairs, lots of people on their wifi or reading or just enjoying this pleasant coffee house. Chai tea was great, worth the break from the Starbucks, which I think I am going to boycott. I think that Starbucks is now like the Walmarts of coffee places. They drive out the mom and pop places that could be and leave little room for places like these. Join me… screw you Starbucks and your over calorie’d Pumpkin whatchamacallit.

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in Pensacola. When I first moved here I was looking for something that wasn’t Starbucks– because Starbucks pretty much rules this town. This coffee shop really fits the bill. The vibe is great and the staff is incredibly nice. Honestly the staff is really the best part about this place. The drinks are good too. And they got live shows on the weekends sometimes. The owner is super cool too. There are a few small downsides to this place though. The tv pretty much has Fox News on 24⁄7. I think that is a huge downer. The last thing I want to be watching is Fox News in such an awesome place like this. It really does not fit anything that this place is all about. It’s really annoying. I could think of a million better things to put on those tv’s other than Fox News– notably– nothing at all is even better. But luckily it’s muted. There is a self playing piano in the main area that really gives the place an artistic feel. And there are literally hundreds of books in the side area for you to read in case you didn’t bring something.

You know, it’s not just the coffee. The Poet does amazing coffee. The people here are great! If you want it talk news, philosophy, jazz, there’s someone here for that! Cars? Motorcycles? Yep, Poet’s got ‘em. This place doesn’t just sell coffee, they build Community.

I am very sad this place does not exist in Jacksonville. Just disproportionately sad. Exceptional foam. Perfectly roasted coffee. A banana coffee cake I have never tasted the likes of before, and never will again, unless I venture down their way and they just HAPPEN to have it in the window. Super fun and funky vibe. A coffee roaster behind glass walls so you can watch the magic. Sob

Delicious! I was skeptical considering all of the coffee shops I have visited recently had good reviews but didn’t satisfy. The Drowsy Poet, however, was fabulous! So happy I found a coffee shop like my favorite back home.

Very excellent coffee. The atmosphere is amazing, especially with the player piano playing in the corner. You can even see the coffee roaster as you walk in the door and smell the heavenly aromas. Sorry Starbucks. I’m sold.

The worst, arrogant management/owner of a food business I have ever experienced! I usually like their espresso coffee. i go to Drowsy Poet quite often for coffee but today I had the worst experience. I gave a try of ‘Byron’ and I didn’t like the taste/formula of the Chai tea. So I went back to the barista and he told me it is their POLICY not to replace a drink. Really? So I just wasted $ 5 on something I didn’t like??? What kind of stupid and arrogant policy is that? No other food business has this kind of stupid policy. It is just stingy! Your business is just based on profit, not customer satisfaction. Because of this incident I am never going back.

Every time I stop by for a Poetchino or hot coffee, the drinks were prepared perfectly. Definitely my favorite coffee shop, since 2007.

Forget Starbucks! I am in love with the Drowsy Poet! I went with a friend of mine a couple weeks ago and I have returned almost every day since. The staff were just incredible to us. So friendly and more than willing to help me pick out my first drink without rushing me. I am so hooked on the Coconut Mocha Poetccino and the Coffee Poetccino each with an extra shot. I will absolutely miss this place when we leave.

Who knew looking for a coffee shop around Pensacola could be difficult? This location is tucked to the left, right before you drive onto the bridge. Well anyway, The Drowsy Poet is quite unique. They roast their own coffee beans, and you can probably see it in action some time as their roaster is displayed in a room of its own behind glass walls. Their specialty drinks are named after famous poets, such as Shakespeare, Keats, Byron, etc. We ended up just getting a regular latte, which was very good and did not require any sugar. It was the end of a long day for which we started in New Orleans, drove over to Foley, had dinner, and decided to take the scenic route to explore Orange Beach, Navy Point, and downtown Pensacola. I got sleepy and needed a pick up for our drive back to Foley. Magically, Drowsy Poet is open until 9pm. Great! Since everything else was pretty much closed. Also, that Leisure Time coffee place we originally had our GPS set to for downtown, doesn’t exist. The café is somewhat divided into two parts. The half that you enter is the main café where the counter is and there are some tables. There are also some tables outside. In the second half, which has a clear entrance of its own, is the Poet’s Corner, where there are more tables and slightly different lighting. I could see some people still sitting in there and working. I can see how this place has a good atmosphere and it’s not very loud so that you could get some things done! I’m a fan. What a gem, and a great alternative to Starbucks.

When I think of coffee in Pensacola I think of Bad Ass Coffee on Underwood ave. that Kona blend is hard to pass up. Was in the mood to try something new so I decided to try Drowsy Poet, figured five stars on Unilocal ??? Hey, why not!!! Hate to be the party pooper but DP was just ok for me, not sure what the fuss was all about. This coming from a coffee drinker… during my business travels I am always in search for that coffee house, some are grand slams while some strike out. This one was neither, coffee was about 3.5 service was 1.5. At first I thought maybe the place was established for a long time in Pensacola, but its been around for less than 10 years… Since 2007 to be exact. Thought perhaps the coffee would blow me away but it didn’t stack up to the rating. Not a bad cup of joe, just expected a five star cup of coffee and didn’t get it. Coffee was a bit flat, something was lacking. DP is well located, I can see why people may be attracted to the place. Decent outdoor seating. Service could use a facelift, particularly from the owner who was a little on the rude side. Not very courteous. So, I was not impress on that end. Maybe I went on a bad day, who knows. My overall take is this… Five stars should represent a flawless business or a particular dish or particular service so unique and so great that it’s hard to find anywhere else. DP is not there yet. The coffee was decent, pricing was acceptable, establishment was nice, service was underwhelming. Wish Unilocalers wouldn’t be so quick to throw out the big five like its candy. Though I wouldn’t be completely against going back to DP in the future, I would still rather take my business to Bad ass coffee, still the best coffee house in Pensacola IMO.
