Be sure to read their fine print. They obviously put a lot of thought into it, and any advantage they can make from it will certainly be taken. I dropped off my clock and did not hear from them for several months. When I dropped it off I was specific about the amount of money I was willing to put into the repair. When I contacted them to inquire about the status of my clock I was given an amount considerably higher than I had indicated I was willing to spend. They stated that they had already made the repairs and that since it was within a certain percentage they did not have to call me to approve the additional expense. Sure enough, it was in the fine print. I was threatened with a storage fee, and appealing to the owners did no good. Out of principle, I picked up my clock and paid the full fee they demanded because I did not want to see my clock go to this establishment to be sold in their«gallery», which is probably a museum for other confiscated timepieces. I found the staff and owner to be presumptuous, and rude. I had been a repeat customer of both the jewelry and the clock repair entities that make up their business, but I will not return. Buyer beware!

Pensacola Jewelers and Reed’s Clock Repair are the same business! My review is for the«clock side of the house.» I left my clock here for almost 3 weeks, awaiting a call for a repair estimate, before I finally called them, was placed on hold, then told that my cuckoo clock simply needed a «good cleaning.» I was thoroughly confused… to clarify, I dropped the clock, right after I bought it while in Germany, and the cuckoo bird hasn’t worked since(it still cuckoo-ed, it just would not pop out/in anymore). Recently, one of the chains became«stripped» and would no longer wind, preventing the music from playing(I understand a «good cleaning» would have fixed the RECENT chain issue). I was disappointed that was the best/only explanation they could give me, after leaving my clock for 3 weeks for an EDUCATED estimate/cause for the BROKEN cuckoo portion of the clock(yes, it was MADECLEAR at drop-off that I wanted the cuckoo BIRD fixed). Long story short, I decided they were not being honest with me and suspected that no-one had even LOOKED at my clock(which was made apparent during pickup), and so I decided to simply pay the $ 15 «estimate fee»(comical) and pick my clock up. I will not post the actual horror experienced while dropping my clock off and picking my clock up(the short bleach blonde-gone brown unprofessional woman working the front counter is a disgrace to the business — she HASTOBERELATED to the owners, to still be working there). I will simply say that I SHOULDHAVEBELIEVEDEVERYSINGLENEGATIVEREVIEWGIVENTOREED’S CLOCKREPAIR, BEFORE I DROPPEDMYCUCKOOCLOCKOFF… I, however, am the type of person that prefers to give people/businesses the benefit of the doubt — in this case, it was unwarranted. DONOTUSETHISBUSINESSIFYOUWANTTOBETREATEDWITHRESPECTANDHONESTY. YOUWILLNOTGETITHERE. PS, $ 155 for a cleaning only? Then more, IF they find issues when they get into the clock? That should have already been determined… isn’t that why you leave your clock for 3 plus weeks for an «ESTIMATE?» Very peculiar(aka, shady) way of doing«estimate» business. One last note: If the owner of the establishment wishes to post a rebuttal to my review(as he did a previous customer’s review for Reed’s Clock Repair), I will then be enticed to post EXACTLY what my experience was during my clock drop-off and pickup. EVERYTHING. I suspect that he will not, however, as I have the FACTS to support what I will be forced to post, if it comes to that. PPS, «Arrogant,» as stated by a previous customer’s review, is a GROSSUNDERSTATEMENT, when describing the people that own/work here. FOLLOW-UP to previous post: the«owner» did eventually contact me and offer to «let» me bring my clock back in for repair at the same rate and dealing with the same people. SERIOUSLY??? LOL. When I asked why it took so long for him to contact me, he stated that they had to review the security tapes so they could witness the atrocity(my word) first-hand(probably in hopes of finding evidence to dispute my claim/posting — which, based on the facts in the video, they COULDNOT/DID NOTFIND). During the phone call, the owner made no attempt to apologize nor offer any type of restitution… he simply stated that«she»(the RUDE/OBNOXIOUS front-desk person) was being«dealt with» and then«offered» to «let» me bring my clock back(at the same rate. NOTETOSELF: I had already paid for an estimate that I did not get and was not refunded for and was treated badly — WHYONEARTHWOULD I DOTHATAGAIN???). I thanked him and stated that I already had my clock repair scheduled with someone else; I managed to find a WONDERFUL, ETHICAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE cuckoo clock repair man located in Gulf Shores, AL. He asked that I not post his name, due to not wanting the influx of business, but, with a little research, you too can find him! Needless to say, he had my clock fixed and working marvelously for a FRACTION of the cost and within the week! :)

I decided to take my clock in to be repaired since I had purchased an antique for my wife as a gift and loved the experience. It did take a while to get it done, but I was happy with the work. I read the review about the paperwork. I signed paperwork when I left my clock but, after reading the review about hidden fees, I went back to read my own paperwork. There is nothing that is hidden with these people or I would not have went back. It was there where I signed, a whole paragraph. I will continue to keep doing business with them!
