Love the food, great service, great setting. Come by boat or truck. Decent prices. Friendly staff that likes helping.

The hush puppies are the best I’ve ever had! The outside seating is perfect for sunset. They let us bring our dog on the patio and they even have overhead string lights to add a little ambiance. The staff is always amazing and super friendly. I get the ahi seared rare almost every time and it never disappoints. The sides are delicious and the perfect size. Did I mention the hush puppies?!? The only con I think I can say about this place is that they do close earlier than their hours say some nights but not a deal breaker!

Love this place! Oysters are amazing and fried mullet is so good. The hush puppies come to the table as much as you want. My daughter LOVED it too and so glad my husband shared his local hometown favorite with us!!!

I have been coming here for years, and it’s where I come to get my raw oyster and fried mullet fix! You have to get the cheese grits too, they are super awesome, and the hush puppies are the best in the United States, hands down. Also the fried crab claws, they are a little pricey, but man they are good! Almost all seats face the water, and you can watch boats launching or coming back in with their catch. The fish and oysters here are always fresh, and the fried foods are delicious.

Shrimp way over-fried, hard heavy overly salty crust. Shrimp themselves tasteless as though had been frozen and thawed several times. I would bet these are not local shrimp — probably cheap Sams Club. Cheese grits inedible thin yellow slime. Cole slaw a mess of white mayonnaise. Total waste of money and it was not cheap at $ 20 bucks for this slop.

Poor Food & Service Marina Oyster Barn has a nice setting on a dock over the water. That’s the best thing about the place. Since it has«oyster» in the name, I figured that it should serve some pretty good ones. So I got the oyster po’ boy. It was a large, long bun with six of the most pathetic, tiny fried oysters I have ever seen. I got the idea that they figure there should be 6 oysters on there, regardless of the size. When I assembled the po’ boy and bit into it, I could barely notice the oysters. What a disappointment. Unfortunately, our waitress dropped the plates and left and we didn’t see her again until we asked for the check. And the place was pretty quiet, so she didn’t have the excuse of being too busy. My wife said that her gumbo was pretty good. Thus the two stars instead of one. Just a couple of blocks away is Jerry’s Drive-In. We should have gone there.

This place is a new favorite! Overlooking sparkling bayou waters, the grilled shrimp was mouthwateringly delicious! Add to that an excellent oyster Po boy, fresh, hot homemade hush puppies, really cold beers in chilled mugs(ok-wish they were glass instead of plastic) and we came away really happy! Go there first chance you get!

Love this place. I live near Palm Springs, CA and don’t have a great choice of seafood where I live. But I travel for work, and discovered Marina Oyster Barn a few years ago on the recommendation of a friend here. Some of the best and freshest gulf coast oysters I’ve ever had, YUM! The seared Ahi is great to, catfish good, everything I have tried is very good and off the boat fresh. It’s kind of small inside, but they seem to always seat you pretty soon if you have to wait. Waiting always tells me that there must be a reason for the wait… good food! I looked at their facebook page and I’m saddened to read that Gator the kitty cat mascot passed away a few days ago… :-(

I’ve been coming here for over forty years and have never had a bad meal. Tonight’s seafood platter was fantastic! Thanks Oyster Barn for decades of great food and value.

We had been here in the past year and really enjoyed it although this time all the food was not very good. The fried cornmeal batter was heavy, the oysters Rockefeller were cheesy and under cooked, and shrimp did not seem fresh. The only very good things we had where the hush puppies…

The Oyster Barn is one of my favorite places for lunch. Their Shrimp Salad is one of my favorites. Service is always quick and friendly. The most time consuming thing about the place is waiting for a table if you get there late! Watching them prepare the Oysters out front by the counter can be educational. Too bad there are only 7 times a week to eat lunch! I haven’t had the pleasure of having dinner there yet. Family owned and operated, locals abound, and all are treated like old friends.

I dined there last New Years Eve and at that time I gave them a poor review on UrbanSpoon. I am still unnerved enough from the experience to make sure I review them on Unilocal as well. I had an overpriced salad with few pieces of shrimp with cheese and brown lettuce. My husband and kids had stale dry sandwiches. Bad service and overpriced.

On Bayou Texar in an old fish house, dinner at the oyster barn has become our welcome back to pensacola treat. A dozen raw oysters, fried Mullet with cheese grits, hush puppies and cole slaw. A couple of cold beers to quench your thirst and life somehow seems brighter. Seafood from grouper to po’boys served by great waitresses at a reasonable price make this little place an old southern delight. When you decide to give in to the temptation of some tasty fried food, make sure that it’s done right.

The place was very dirty and the food was overpriced and not good at all. My son is two and was acting like a two year old and the owners wife and dome staff looked at us with disgust. Not a four star at all! Save your time and look for another place to eat.

I just ate there, to my regret. Possibly one of the worst seafood restaurants I have ever eaten at. It just goes to show you that the ratings on Unilocal are not always very accurate. To start off I was recomended to try the chicken and dumplings. LOL, only to be told 2 mins later they were out. I had the Grilled scallops, they were small about the size of a bottle cap, over seasoned(too Much Salt), too few approx 8 to 10, and slightly over done. My sides were the much raved about cheese grits, simply awful. I’m a life long southerner and those were as bad as I have ever had. I tried the fries as well, they were oily and saturated. All this came to $ 23.16 with the tip. Do yourself a favor move on. this place is awful. I only gave it 1 star because I couldn’t give it ½ a star for the tea.

While the fish was the star of the show(as I was really hoping) the sides were not nearly on the same level as the seafood. The fish itself deserves 4 stars as it was flawlessly grilled, nicely seasoned and fresh but I just had to knock off a star for the sides. However I’d still reccomend you stop by for the fish so don’t let this send you packing. As a minor note to the restaurant I would really think about different plates, serving seafood on skin tone/off-white plates just doesn’t provide any contrast to enchance the presentation in fact it kinda makes everything look dull, some basic white plates would really make the nicely grilled fish look much nicer on the plate, the same contrast problem applies to the grits.

It is so sad that I forget about this place! Shame on me because it is great food — small place great location. We had fried mullet(excellent) /fried crab claws(awesome) & fresh raw oysters that were just the right size @ very tasty! Service was good & beer was cold! I will remember this place from here on out!

This place shucks. No. Really. Always great fresh oysters on the half shell. Over the years when we have strayed on the menu from fried seafood we have had some disappointments but if you stick to fried you won’t be disappointed. For us it is always our favorite: fried mullet. We’re only here two or three times a year, but when we’re here, we’re in for lunch or dinner two or three times. Being from Pensacola we’ve eaten at Marina since it’s inception and we have never once had unhappily prepared mullet. And the french fries are killer. They have some kind of a light super crispy coating that makes them to die for. I think this is the only restaurant on the planet that serves you a reasonable portion of fries as opposed to the humongous pile most restaurants serve, half of which end up in the trash. The slaw is very good as well.
