$ 50 lunch Togo. 2 soups, 2 sandwiches. My pickle was once a ¼ spear, had been cut into another ¼. If you are hard up for money just leave the pickle off the plate entirely. Pathetic and overprice though the server was very nice.

I gave 2 stars for the food. If this was just about the food I would give 4 stars, but this about over all so I take a star away for no atmosphere. Literaly there is no music or ambience. I like to go out to eat for the full experience. I’ll take the other two stars away because the staff is not the friendliest and to me that is very important. If you are planning on eating at this place I suggest ordering for take out. Like I said the food is delicious.

Food: average. Service: hostile. Won’t take your order at the same time as your drink order. Won’t seat you until your entire party is there, even when there’s only two other people in the entire restaurant. Will charge you 4 dollars split entrée fee if they see you eating off someone else’s plate.

It is unfortunate that people only think to write a review if they are unhappy so I thought that I would write to say that every time my husband and I have gone to the Pleasant Valley Grill, we have been very pleased with the food, the cleanliness and the service. In fact, we were surprised to find that they even use gluten free breads and rolls, upon request. The food servings are always generous and satisfying and the food is always prepared as ordered, attractive and perfectly seasoned.

It was not a companion dog … She is a Service Dog and my wife showed you her service dog id and tag … TK bound yay!! We never screamed and or «had a fit» as you are trying to proclaim. The DoJ law states that a disabled person with a Service animal must be allowed access and seating in any area of an establishment as other customers and your waitress and yourself were disgustingly rude and had NOCLUE about the Disabilities Act so we advise you to get a reading from your attorney or at a minimum look it up and read it because next time someone walks in and you pull the same shot they can legitimately due the pants off you! And if customers claim they are allergic to dogs then educate them as well. PS. The dog does not shed and has never been know to be a problem in a large room for a 45 min to 1−½ hour dinner– no more so than your old fart customers who may have put on too much perfume or aftershave which is more offensive to many if your same customers!

Never been disappointed with this place. We call it mom and pop’s. The food is fairly priced and very good. It is home food. What you could expect from a home cooked meal, with quality ingredients and a talented cook. Great service and great desserts.

My mom and I have been to the Pleasant Valley Grill twice in the last few months, both poor experiences. Tonight Mom ordered the shrimp, which turned out to be the same flavorless shrimp you can buy prebreaded in large plastic bags in the freezer section of any market, complete with freezer burn. I ordered the fish and chips with cole slaw, all bland. The wine was served in itty bitty glasses. We thought our poor first visit might have been a fluke, so gave the restaurant another try. Bad idea. We left quite dissatisfied and will not return.

We just moved to Penn Valley about 4 weeks ago and ended up coming to eat dinner here tonight after I committed to buy something from Chris on Facebook. I had no clue that she owned the restaurant, but figured since I was picking up my item from here, we ought to try out the food. There were 4 of us in our party and we were promptly seated. We all decided that we were in the mood for cheeseburgers and fries. Our food came out fairly quickly and was very fresh and hot. Our burgers were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The waitress checked in on us regularly and kept our glasses full. The owner and her husband both came out together and asked how the food was and had a nice conversation with them both. It felt like a place that we could see ourselves become a regular at. It was very comfortable and not too frilly. It was perfect for what it is, a grill. We can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu. The desserts looked so delicious!

Tonight was my first visit to Pleasant Valley Grill. They probably should change the name, as there were little in the way of «pleasantries.» The meat dishes and vegetables were quite good, the fish had been frozen, and looked like it came out of the freezer section at the local super market. The wine glasses are ridiculously small for the price charged for house wine. I can give a solid B to the food, but the service was abominable. Clearly making customers feel welcome or their dining experience enjoyable is not part of their agenda. When we asked for another appetizer plate we were told«No, you can only have one.» We would gladly have paid for another one, but that wasn’t an option, apparently. They wouldn’t seat the first of our party to arrive as they have a «rule» that no one gets seated until the entire party arrives… there were only four of us, and all tables were set with 4 place settings. We failed to see why we couldn’t sit and have a glass of wine while we waited for our friends. These owners and their wait staff need a course in hospitality and an attitude adjustment.

My wife and I used to enjoy the Pleasant Valley Grill regularly. The atmosphere is not too exciting, and the owners seem to lack interpersonal skills, but the food was reasonably good and a couple dishes were very good. Our favorite was the old fashioned chicken vegetable pot pies with the baked crust on top. One night a year or so ago, we ordered our favorite pot pie dishes, but something was terribly different about my wife’s — there were no vegetables in the mix and it was very watery. It was obvious that the kitchen had run out of the main ingredients, but served it up anyway. I called the waitress over to see what could be done and she looked at the pot pie and spotted a single carrot slice, exclaiming, «See, there’s a carrot»! No apology, or let me see what I can do, or I’ll check with the kitchen. We politely asked her to check with the kitchen(the owners) to see if it could be replaced. After checking with the owners, the answer was«sorry, it is what it is». I said, well we don’t want it, please bring my wife a steak, which she did, and charged us for both the steak and the uneaten vegetable-less, watery pot pie. We finished our meal, left and have never returned. An amazing attitude for a family run business. Since that time, we have discovered that our experience is not unique, many other(former) customers have received similar treatment. Someone should remind the owners and the staff, that they are in a service business, and nickel-and-diming customers does not inspire loyalty or goodwill. There are plenty of other great places to eat.

Very good food. Fried chicken the best in the county. Although there’s been a couple of times chef got a bit heavy handed with the salt in the batter. But chicken was SOJUICY and delicious it wasn’t worth bringing up. Besides I don’t eat much of the skin anyway but I have to have a bite. Friendly atmosphere. A personal wish especially with the Lake Wildwood clubhouse closure is that many LWW residents would appreciate a home delivery/take out option.

This restaurant is tiny but serves decent food. And it’s pretty expensive for the amount of food you get. Grilled ham and cheese and a salad was a tasty lunch though.

We truly love this little restaurant. Food quality is excellent, with many innovative tempting specials(my wife loves the tenderloin beef stroganoff, while my favorites are the wonderful seafood dishes on Fridays). I love the steaks, calamari, chicken, chicken fried steak, burgers, fish tacos, pot pies, and sandwiches. Servings are always large. We often take food home for a second meal. The tempting desserts taste as good as they look! We love the serving staff, and the owners/chefs are always friendly and generous. I don’t know where some of these negative Unilocal comments come from. We have eaten here for the past 8 or 9 years and have never had a bad experience with the food or the service. How could this little spot be so successful, for so many years if it wasn’t great? Give it a try, I think you will enjoy your meal!

I’ve tried this place three times. The menu has items that look so good. However, the corned beef around St. Patrick’s Day was very tough. The portabello mushroom sandwich was pretty good. The desserts aren’t too bad. The service is the WORST I have ever seen. Surly, slow, rude. I thought the one time was just they were having a bad day. But it’s consistently bad or every day is a bad day for these girls. I understand two of them are the daughters of the owner and they really should not be on the front lines of customer service.

We went to Pleasant Valley Grill on the recommendation of a friend. She had told us that the food was very good, although a little pricey. We went and ordered a sandwich was good, but the fries were partially raw. The service from the waitress was horrible. She never smiled the entire time we were in the establishment. Sad that even though the food was not bad we will never be returning due to the bad attitude of the server. We own a family ran business and would not have stayed in business for 23 years if we had that service.

This little family owned and operated restaurant offers good food at a good price. The take out is always hot and ready on time.

Unfortunately our stay was NOT pleasant!!! My friends and I stopped here after a long day at the river. We sat outside with our small dog. Apparently the servers won’t take your order if you are sitting outside.(Very strange especially because we were the only customers in the restaurant!) So, I took my friends order as the server stood inside with a pad of paper waiting for my return. I repeated the order and asked her for a cup of water for my dog and she said I had to pay $ 1.00 for a cup even after we spent over $ 40.00 on food. The food is average, the server was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Great location by the river but it’s unfortunate we wont ever be returning. Regarding your comment… «The attitude you got from your server was merely a reflection of the attitude you were giving her.» Please don’t insult me after giving bad service!!! I am simply expressing what happened to us. Your server was rude, inconsiderate and made us feel uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that we left and took the food back to our home. My friends and I never expected«special treatment» as you mentioned. We only wanted friendly customer service.

There is nothing better for the money in Penn Valley, Yuba City, Marysville, Grass Valley, Colfax, Auburn, Roseville or Sacramento. I’m retired and I travel and eat out often. No one makes better pork chops, fish and chips or does a better job with Salmon. The deserts are killer and often irresistible to my wife(she shares). If you are on Highway 20 between Marysville and Grass Valley near lunch or dinner – stop. I doubt you’ll regret it.
