I’ve been here on several occasions for dim sum. Great service the dim sum is delicious and most importantly the place is clean . The only bad experience was on Christmas Day. We had a 7:30 pm reservation and they did not sit us till 9 pm. Didn’t go elsewhere because everywhere else was full

This was our second time here and really love this place. The ambiance is very nice too. Most of the Chinese restaurants in Pines is kind of worn down and take out only place. This is one place where you can sit and enjoy your dinner or lunch. Dim Sum — tried the Pork BBQ Pastry and it was pretty good. It was on the sweeter side but with the Sriracha sauce, its perfect. We had our favorite Pan Fried chicken noodles. Like last time, it was yummmyy :-). If you like spicy food, make sure you try to Chilli oil which comes with the food. Makes the food taste even better. We almost finished 1 full bottle of Chilli oil and had to ask for another one ;-) Be careful about the portion sizes here! Its outright HUGE! Order just 1 for 2 if you are a big eater(I think even if you are a big eater, 1 portion is good for 2). Had the mango pudding for dessert. It had a good flavor but was not sweet enough for a pudding.

Big restaurant. Nice decorations. Nice ambiance. Lots of waitering staff. Chicken wings were very good. Kong pao chicken was very saucy. But could have been a little spicier. Soy sauce chicken was not that great and too dark and soggy and too many bones. Fried rice was excellent. Owners son came by and talked for a while. Excellent customer service. Listened to our comments and offered a suggestion for next time. We liked that. Lots of families are there. Looks like a great place to have a large get together. Prices were within range of good Chinese food.

This Chinese restaurant has three star food and two star service. They dropped the serving spoon on the floor and immediately put it into our food. They say us at a wobbly table without a table cloth and we watched as all other parties say at a nicer table with much better service. Be aware that they do not have a child friendly menu or options.

Nice new place for Dim Sum. Everything was hot and fresh. The service is friendly and the chicken feet were the best I’ve had in Florida. We will return. So this was our fourth visit. This time much of the food was served cold, still tasty but… Also we ordered a steamed sponge cake. It was made to order and only the top half was cooked, the bottom half was hard as a rock. When we mentioned this to a manager and our server they just looked at us and the manager’s response was«oh, okay». Not good, I hope they address these issues. But for now, three stars.

I thought the place would be really big(like little bit bigger than Pine Court) but it’s not. I like how the place looks and matching silverware. The dim sum is really really good here. The fried taro was just right, fluffy and crispy, and not oily. I like having my taro cake and radish cake crispy on outside and soft in the inside. Their taro cake was little bit crispy but it’s was overall good so it was okay. Siu Mai and shrimp dumpling were good here. Their chicken feet was soft. Their bone meat don’t have a pic) had really good flavor. Their meatball was okay, I had a better one before. The soft bead curb rolls were okay. Not much flavor and sauce was too thick and jelly. I was disappointed with this dish. My family and I didn’t get much because we weren’t that hungry. We usually get more. So I couldn’t try out the fried shrimp balls and others. The egg tarts and cha siu bao(bbq pork bun) were also good. My mom and I thought it was weird how they use radish under the beef tripe stomach dish and bone meat dish. There was a lot of the radish that it took half the portion. We thought it’s not fair to do that with that kind of price. The cart ladies were really nice and made sure what we want. Servers didn’t really come over to pick up empty stacks till towards the end. It wasn’t that busy today.

I’m not really sure what to do with Gold Marquess. So they can do good, authentic Cantonese food, but sometimes they don’t? We visited them for dinner once and I gave that meal five stars, but then a second dinner got them three. What gives? The first time around, the restaurant was busy and we got some great food. For example, the clams with black bean sauce were fantastic and the Cantonese pork chops were excellent. The dry-fried beef noodles were wonderful. The service was excellent as well. Everything came out really fast. The second time they were not as busy. We had such a good experience the first time that I even dared order a Sichuan dish: fish boiled in hot chile oil, extra hot. We re-ordered the dry-fried noodles. The fish didn’t eve register on the scoville scale and had few Sichuan peppers in it. It was underseasoned and, well, «meh». The dry fried noodles came drowned in with some sauce you could have got at Panda Express(actually not fair to PE, which can be tasty). It was all wrong. We said as much, but when we questioned our server, she said she didn’t understand why. I think our food had been gweilo-ified, since there wasn’t a ghost of a flavor to be had. Next time, we’ll ask them to specifically cook it like they do for(especially critical) Chinese people and see where that gets us. We’ve not even been to their dim-sum, which is supposed to be a cut above the rest. I still have hope!

I am increasing the number of stars to 4. The food is tasty and good — not just«good enough». And the servers are nice. Today we had a server who didn’t seem very friendly. I ordered a small order of pepper steak to go and soup and the server said«no». I looked at him and said«no, there’s no ‘no’; whaddaya mean ‘no’?» and he smiled. He explained what he meant and from then on he was friendlier. He touched my arm when he left our table and he eased up, overall. I really enjoyed his service and told him so at the end of our meal. So if the jasmine tea, food and service are good they earned 4 stars. I’m still trying to get over the sticker shock but if their food is better than most I guess I’m willing to pay a couple of dollars more than average(still not buying $ 54 crabs, however!). Go here for lunch if you like a tasty assortment of dim sum at a reasonable price. We loved the vibe — they have crystal chandeliers, a wall mural and pretty tile work around the border of the large, well-decorated, bright dining room. Friendly servers stopped at our table and opened every lid of their carts’ dim sum dishes. They tried to entice us to take their food and when we did, they marked our bill. Their dim sum offerings include chicken feet, egg custard tart; steamed BBQ pork buns, stuffed tofu skin; fish meatballs, pan fried/steamed dumplings, turnip pudding and more. We were so hungry that we grabbed most of the stuff from the first cart. If you can, look at more than one cart before you start pointing at food. We’re going to do that next time. You can go here for dinner if you don’t mind paying a lot for your meal. Tonight we paid $ 122 — with a 10% Unilocal discount — for a mixed dim sum appetizer, steamed Chinese mustard greens, Shanghai soup-filled dumplings, spring rolls, crispy garlic chicken half, Dungeness crab in ginger/scallion sauce and Singapore(curried) noodles. I don’t think I ever paid that much for Chinese food. Ever. Anywhere I’ve lived. Seriously. I could have gone to a steakhouse for that money. $ 18 Mixed dim sum appetizer — 2 each spring rolls, shu mei, steamed shrimp dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, and steamed BBQ buns. $ 17 half of a small chicken, fried and sweetened — I think they were going for a honey garlic flavor but hubby sought crispy garlic chicken, which he didn’t get. $ 54 a Dungeness crab, legs cut from the body, lightly coated in flour/corn starch and stir fried then coated in about a half cup of ginger scallion sauce. $ 15 a big heaping bowl of thin rice noodles with curry flavors, studded with peppers, onions, pork and egg. $ 13 a plate of steamed Chinese mustard greens with an oyster sauce drizzle. Good. Fresh. Still don’t know why restaurants charge so much for this. They should call this Pure Profit instead of Chinese mustard greens. When I buy fresh greens it’s just a couple of dollars. Everything is beautiful. But the menu prices are just steep. Tonight the seafood specials were handwritten in the menu. The Dungeness crab was $ 23.95. When we came home, hubby showed me that my dish was $ 54. I called the restaurant to ask why and they told me the price was per pound. I don’t recall seeing«per pound» next to the price but regardless it makes sense that they’d have a per pound price. So the food is good. It’s not fantastic. It’s solid and I like it here. But I don’t want to pay so much money for Chinese food. I just want to come here for lunch and enjoy their dim sum.

— — — — — — — — — — – Update: 11⁄14 Came back on a Saturday with my dad for dim sum. We had about 14 dishes. First thing I noticed, They have improved their services. They were more attentive. Another thing that stood out this time is that I Had the best Shanghai dumplings in south Florida. It was fresh, juicy and great flavored. It was really good. I would give 5 star. I can tell in some of their dim sum dishes, they have done down their usage of black pepper. But not all dishes. There is still some inconsistency. You can tell that the management has listened to their customers and they are implementing changes to improve their quality of food as well their services. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes

Well, now is the time for a review! Gold Marquess is delivering service and quality like it was meant to do. So I said in a note posted when it recently opened… give it some time as it is new. Gold Marquess is beginning to deliver food as it should be. Initially, when it first opened there were some kinks to iron out, staff to be trained, and improvements to be made. Slowly, but surely, it has come a long way in the very few months that it has been open and it seems like they are continuously making changes to improve. Quickly, this has become our family’s favorite place to dine for authentic Chinese cuisine. Ambiance: Easy way to explain it… «Modernized with an Asian Flair» Large open area concept that allows patrons to see across the restaurant and the bar. An area that can be separated and can be enclosed for private functions to offer privacy. Dim-Sum: Very rarely you’d find a place with dim sum push-carts that come around to the tables and serve hot and fresh items directly from the kitchen, your choice, providing you a visual experience before ordering an item. South Florida, has very few and this one is offering it. Many dim sum restaurants offer it on a place card, where you mark your item with the quantity you want. If you are unsure of what to order, Gold Marquess offers you the preview before you even decide if you’d like to scarf down an delectable item of choice. Lately, they have been coming up with some fresh and neat presentations with their dim sum and it has been quite catchy. The items are hot and fresh, quality is superb. Dinner: Taste and quality is the number one caveat that any of the Chinese patrons seek and they are harsh critics. If you don’t know one, when you meet one and have dined with them, you’ll know what I mean. The few experiences that I’ve had for dinner have been progressively improved. Initially, plates lacked food, seemingly empty and more plate than anything. Now they have stepped it up and are providing a plateful serving. Only way you’ll find out if you like it is by trying it… Go on and head over and give your own opinion.

4 ½ stars The wife and I were at the house and looking for a place to get a good bite so i went to my trusty book marks on Unilocal and remembered this place. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars was because I was excited and expecting to see the dim sum cart passing around, but did not see it once. I honestly did not inquire about it but was satisfied with our selection. After seeing which appeared to be every table in the place with the lobster dish I had to try it. We order the two lobsters with ginger and scallions that were on special for $ 34.99 if I recall the price correctly. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice. Both dishes came out hot and fresh and to say the least was very flavorful. The lobster had a nice light ginger sauce it was sauteed in with the lobsters cracked for easy eating. Very nice presentation with the lobster and more than enough for two people. The rice was a generous portion enough to feed three people easily. The rice was well flavored fluffy with a nice amount of shrimp throughout. The décor is a mix of traditional and modern very nicely done. If I had to make one recommendation it would be the lighting. The lighting is bright, not in a bad way but if it was a tad bit dim would change the atmosphere of the place. The service was great, very prompt and attentive. Our water glasses stay full and food came out fast for to say the place was almost to capacity. The manager also stopped by our table and asked us how our dining experience was, which of course we informed him everything was great. Will certainly be back, but next time I want to see that Dim Sum cart lol

This is a new Chinese restaurant that just opened by a friend’s friend in July. These Cantonese people know what’s going on! Not only is the interior design fancy but the food is awesome as well! They have a variety of dim sum dishes that include shumai, hakau, and turnip cakes. Gold marquess uses carts to serve dim sum. They have 3 carts going around: one with baked/fried goods and 2 with steamed goods. Come early if you want to get the freshest food, you can end up with cold dishes that are not supposed to be cold. The service is also excellent. Not only do the ladies pushing the carts greet you with a smile, they also do a great job introducing the special dishes. Just be sure you know what you want cause they’ll keep trying to sell you dishes even though you’re full. To let them know you’re fine ordering, ask for the check and they won’t push the carts to you. Also when you ask for take out boxes, they pack your food for you! Super nice service! You won’t find that in many Chinese places! The restaurant is new so they’re still expanding their menu! Will definitely be back!

I heard about this place from my mom so we decided to come try out their authentic Chinese dinner menu. My first walk-in impression about this place was Wow! They really put in some time and money to make this place look nice especially the bar. We haven’t try their dim sum yet but that’ll be another review next time. So we came here to try their authentic Chinese dinner. We ordered the Hong Kong Style Pork Chop, Ginger Scallion Grouper, and the Beef Stew in Hot Pot and a bowl of white rice. All our dishes were delicious; not too salty nor oily. Just the right amount for our taste. The service was good at first. There were waiters/waitresses everywhere and eager to take our order. Water and tea were brought in time. The only thing that was questionable was after the food was brought out, there weren’t any waiters/waitresses to ask us how was the food and if we needed anything else but then again, there was a wedding reception going on in the next room so I’m sure they were hectic. In general, we will be back again for their dinner. My family enjoyed their dishes and we’ll be back for their dim sum.
I was super excited when I saw this place randomly on Unilocal.A new dimsum place? PUSH-CARTS?! It’s literally Brand. New. Super shiny, it sparkles, it looks lavish and up-scale. So why the 2 stars? I think this establishment has great potential. It looks extremely up-scale and it is very appealing. I walked in on a Monday lunch hours and was greeted with a PACKED house full of my Ancestors. Literally packed. Sardine packed. Don’t get me wrong, thats a great sign! I just don’t think they know how to handle the volume. Until they get their ahem together, I will say that the prices are decent. Paying for the same prices approximately I would pay elsewhere. I love that they give you nice chopsticks and dishware instead of those pull-apart chopsticks. *cringe* But it is so packed, that the poor ladies with the push carts would get people rushing to them as soon as they walked out of the kitchen. They couldn’t even push the carts around! And even if they did, I don’t see how it would be successful as the way they set up the tables it is not efficient enough. Instead, they need to set up their tables in a way that allows for lanes if you want Push-Cart style dimsum. In terms of the food: Food was pretty good! I was happy with the outcome. The only letdown for me was the Soup Dumplings. I was very much looking forward to them and I didn’t really like them all too much. I would say the best soup dumplings(in a dimsum setting) is Kon Chau, but overall, I would go to N Miami on 163rd if I wanted legit soup dumplings. We ordered: Different dumplings, Fried Taro, Egg Rolls, Eggplant dish, Sticky Rice, BBQ Pork Buns, Soup Dumplings and all came out to be ~$ 28. Average prices. In terms of Service: Uhm… well. you know that stereotype of a chinese resturant. On top of that, there was no direction on where we could get refills, tea, get check, pay the check at. It was mayhem. But, I have high hopes that this place could be great! So I would like to go back soon when the madness calms down and try again.

So, I heard about a new dim sum place opening back home and when I did come home, my parents wanted to take me there. This place was definitely more upscale than the other dim sum places around South Florida. This one even had a bar! My parents told me when they opened, you had to order off the menu, but recently they changed it to pushcarts. Some dishes still had to be ordered. The food was hit or miss. Some dishes were really good, but others needed work. We wanted to get the chicken feet, but it was not the vibrant red we were used to, instead it was a very unappetizing, dark color. We passed on that dish. We do eat with our eyes first. The steamed sponge cake was light, fluffy, and just sweet enough. I didn’t get to try any of the noodle dishes, but my parents tried them last time and they felt that the kitchen needed some work. The space was very open and didn’t feel crowded. There was a wall that opened up to more seating. These were probably the cleanest bathrooms I have seen as well. The service was meh, but I never expect much since you’re here for the food. However, one of the pushcart ladies didn’t know any of the prices and had to reference the menu several times.

I’ve been boycotting South Florida’s dim sum restaurants for quite some time due to poor quality, bad service and basically total disregard in making any efforts to improve. Been wanting to try Gold Marquess since they opened recently. Went early at 10am on a Sunday and was seated right away with my party of five. The servers were all very polite and the food was good and fresh. I was pretty pleased and will be bringing my family back. The flow of things will likely get worked out over time. There were only minor issues like mulitiple employees asking us the same question. The dining area is one big open space so the noise level can get pretty high. Lots of potential and worth a try.
