The Home Depot

Only gave this Home Depot a 1 star because no stars isn’t an option. Worst Home Depot store I have ever been in! The store itself is a cluttered up mess. Most of the isles are partially blocked so only one person can fit down the isle at a time. The appliance department is so cluttered its like a maze. The employees are rude and the store manager Carl Free is an unreasonable jerk. Despite the fact the multiple Home Depot associates told me multiple times I could return a defective washing machine he refused to take it back. (This is a 3 month long story so I won’t bore you will all the details.) The store manager at Inverness even called Carl and asked him to honor what I had been told by multiple Home Depot employees and he still refused. If you must shop at a Home Depot go to Inverness. The store is clean and organized and the associates are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I had to cancel a $ 4,750 appliance order because of the dishonesty and lack of integrity at the Pelham store. I have been a Home Depot customer for more than ten years and have spent roughly $ 50,000 in the past 5 to 6 years in Home Depot. I have never been treated this way at any other store. It’s unfortunate that based on this experience I will not shop at any of their stores again.

Had to rent a hardwood floor staple gun this morning. I’ve rented tools a number of times from HD. I’m giving a generous 3 stars because while HD had exactly what I needed and I got in & out pretty quickly, the rental associate was neither friendly nor helpful. Answered all of my questions with, «I don’t know» and while the rental associates should be in a position to offer advice & guidance on the tools for rent (i.e. how many boxes of staples should I buy for a particular size floor, or what size are typically used), I had to just take a guess. I don’t expect to talk to a hardwood floor expert, but a little guidance, maybe a willingness to hunt down someone else more knowledgeable, or at least a pleasant smile and a «good morning» would be nice. I do love HD & am a regular customer, but c’mon guys, with the economy in the tank and a surplus of folks looking for work, finding people with a good attitude & friendly disposition ought not to be that difficult.
To be fair, I should also say that I had to pick up some other supplies. I found another associate who was very helpful and took me to exactly what I needed.
