Dr. Bassin is a fantastic dentist. One thing people will really like about the office and Dr. Bassin is he is usually very punctual. You may have to wait on occasion, but that’s because he’s doing surgery on someone and some complication arose and he is doing his very best work for the patient. He never rushes. His is very gentle. When he puts the shot of the pain killer in your gums, he will immediately start to quickly rub it in repeatedly with his fingers on your gums to lessen the pain– just like you would rub your leg after you banged it– that is a real principle of lessening pain and it is appreciated. I have 2 slits in my tongue from a bad dentist I had as a child. I’ve had some mean and rough and backwards dentists that have made me cry and treated me like I was less than a human being. Finding a good dentist can be hard. Dr. Bassin is very professional. He also has advanced technology for detecting tooth decay and has had that technology for a long time now. He has this thing that looks like a laser pen. He just places it on each tooth, calibrates it (It makes no mark and it completely painless) and it makes a woooooewwww sound, there is tooth decay and it produces a number. If the number is high enough that the decay cannot be reversed, he will schedule you to fill it. If it is decaying, but still could be reversed, he’ll give you a little lecture about flossing and mark it down to keep an eye on for the next visit. I’ve had teeth I’ve reversed where they don’t make the decay sound any more. I’ve also have many small cavities that Dr. Bassin caught really early and they took less than 30 minutes for him to take care of. Dr. Bassin has been my dentist for over 15 years. I just moved to Hawaii, and will have to find a new dentist here. I will greatly miss Dr. Bassin. If you are looking for a good dentist in the area, Dr. Bassin is the best. He is also very consistent in his temperament and his staff is usually all good. The hygienists are usually good. The only bad experiences have been with someone that was filling in or a temp, however no one that gives bad customer service or is poor at their job will last long in this office.
