The Serpent Mound is a large Native American effigy mound located in the wilds of the State of Ohio. This is perhaps the most famous mound in all of the US. The mound is in the shape of a serpent, including a well defined head that winds near an ancient crater. The mounds align perfectly with astrological events, proving that the builders knew what they were doing and were very specific. The mound is interesting to see. A trail wraps around the serpent so one can walk all the way around it. In addition, there is a large metal tower that one can climb to get a better view of the serpent. I visited this site in the early spring and close to night. The park was not monitored. There was an entry gate which was open that had a sign for payment of $ 7 per car. I thought that was a little expensive. I suggest going at off times to avoid paying fees.
