New equipment, back to being a clean gym, and new options. Much improved.

I was shocked by this location. Under construction, tore up, loud and the young ladies behind the make shift desk could not have been more put out with my simple question of when construction may be over. It appears this location will be tore up till Mid September folks. Rolls of paper towels everywhere, 2 massage chairs in the corner and no tanning services working. Hopefully once construction is over it will be better, sad that my first visit will certainly be my last

Update: They fixed the equipment and installed all new treadmills, listening to our feedback. I recommend. Original review below: Good: You definitely can’t beat the price! The staff is the best. The people who go there are a good crowd and mildly entertaining. Don’t expect extreme lifting to be done here though. Bad: The equipment is starting to show wear and tear. Out of order signs accompany 1 of the 3 Smith Machines almost all the time. The locker rooms smell. The incline benches always fall apart. Make sure you kick the seat a little before you start your incline free weight exercise. The weights only go to 60 lbs. and a lot of machines are missing eg. The Leg Press.

First off I will have to say for $ 10 a month you have to expect some issues. It used to be super clean and had great staff when I joined a couple of years ago. Now it’s seems like the equipment is out of order for over a month or two. The place is dirty especially in winter months. Worst of all is the people anymore. The locker room is filthy and I have walked in on guys masturbating and all the old guys trying to have a convo with you when they are completely naked. My complaints to the desk have not gone anywhere.

It’s no secret that the main thing Planet Fitness has going for it is price. And location. Ok, so the two things that Planet Fitness has going for it are price and location. Quality of the gym is strictly OK. It is about 80% cardio equipment: treadmills, ellipticals, bikes. The weight equipment is limited, but I’ve never had to wait to use it. Novel looking«circuit training» corner that no one ever seems to use. TVs tuned to the typical channels, plus Discovery and(sadistically) Food Network. Plugs for headphones on cardio machines to listen in. Piped music is decent, but no replacement for a good mp3 player. No towel service, courts, pool, or sauna, but what do you expect for $ 10−20/month? That being said, the place is clean and fairly bright. I usually go at off hours and it is never crowded. Mix of people, including a number in the not-currently-in-shape camp, which means you’ll probably feel comfortable there. My one wish: better stationary bikes. They aren’t adjustable enough to be comfortable for me.
