I have to say I have always enjoyed Krogers, they typically have the best prices and have the best selection of fresh produce besides going to a farmer’s market. This location started to be my favorite, but lately I have been very disappointed. Everytime I go to this location it seems as though the raw chicken breast is partially cooked. The chicken breast is supposed to be all pink in color, but their chicken is white around chicken. I hope I’m making sense. At first I thought it was just from it being frozen so I bought a pack. When I got home I opened up the package and to my horror the chicken was partially cooked! I called them to let them know and they said because I opened it they couldn’t give me a refund. That’s not really my biggest concern, my concern is they can kill someone selling chicken like that. And today I had to return a bag of cheese because it was bad the expiration date was for 2 months from now. I returned the cheese, and when I went to look for another bag I noticed there was moisture inside the bags of cheese, water droplets inside the bag. This means the cheese is heating up and cooling down over and over again. So now I will have to find a new krogers, and call the health department for the other location.

My God, can this store ever stock anything? I go in after work and it looks like people came in and stocked up for a hurricane. Dairy is always empty, meat dept is hit and miss. I think I’m going to try the HEB down the street.

People leave their emptied shopping carts out at the parking lot even though there are tons of places to place them! Are you serious? How lazy and self centered are you that you can’t even be conscious of the workers that have to seek the carts out long after you’re gone? Not to mention how the carts just block available parking spaces and could scratch someone’s car. But that’s not Kroger’s fault so I won’t be deducting points for that. I also won’t deduct points for falsely labeling their house brand, Simple Truth, as organic when it’s mostly not… because that is at every Kroger and not just this specific one. One of the not so good things about this store is that there are not enough varieties of produce at all! Cucumbers are almost always bruised, old, broken or not in stock! Oranges and apples are soften with age and bruised. The bulk foods, especially the nuts, smell and taste old, and the processed and boxed salads are always wilted. Some of their cashiers seem really untrained… or trained not as well. Rarely do I get a greeting and some of them look like they hate to be there. Look, I’m not asking for a conversation here, just a little greeting. Whenever I work, I remember to greet someone and ask them what they need. Obviously, in this case, all the customer needs is to be checked out. So saying a little hello should be the minimum. I’m not some entitled brat that’s demanding you to kiss my butt with praises for buying veggies and not trans fat filled butter. Sometimes they would get the price of the produce wrong and end up overcharging! Hello? Just type in the number on the sticker, sweetie, instead of playing guessing games. And what’s with customers bringing a crap load of things into the express line? Isn’t it like 10 items max? People bring in like 20+ items then sometimes start to debate a coupon with the cashier. Not so express anymore! Please politely ask these type of people to move to another lane. Because I believe their pricing is much cheaper than HEB and the area outside of the store is less crowded in general, I come here a lot and probably will continue to do so… until perhaps a Whole Foods open up nearby one day. Then perhaps when I get overcharged for foods, at least I know it will be on purpose and not because of their employees’ incompetency.

My review isn’t against the entire store but the deli itself. Perhaps I am irritated I work and live in this area and there are no «healthy fast options» to eat during lunch. So I figure I will go make a salad in the deli. The«goodies» were very limited and didn’t even have cheese. The only to go dressing option wa ranch. The salad bar is 5.99 a pound but no tasty goodies! Therefore I ha to go to the olive bar to get a few things which ended up being 4.00 itself since it is 8.99 a pd. Plus I got me an avocado to juice it up. Grant it my salad only ended up being 3.79 but with me having to buy all the other goodies it was over 8.00. Once I got back to work I made my salad and the cucumbers were sour. The lettuce was not fresh. I just figured for this side of town and it being a signature store they would have a bigger variety and be the freshest possible! I really wish there were more fast food healthy options. Sad that buccees salads were better. This Kroger does have a much Better meat department than all the other Kroger I pearland I do have to admit. While there, since the salad bar didn’t have much to offer I looked aroun the entire deli. Over half the food was frozen. Isn’t that the purpose? To get a «homemade» meal?

Ok crazy as it may sound this is the best fried chicken I have had in a long time. And its at Krogers. Cooked perfectly, juicy, not a thick and hard crunchy outside like popeyes and not as thin as kfc. It’s just right. Had it 3 times and can’t go wrong. Paid $ 7.99 for 8 pieces so not bad at all.

I absolutely love this Kroger. The store is kept clean, the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. One employee named Roger assisted my wife in carrying her groceries to the car when he saw that she was pregnant. We are privileged to have such a great neighborhood grocer.

As far as Pearland grocery stores go, this place is A-OK. I originally came here a few times to get the limited release Saint Arnold’s Divine series(which, btw, they leave out on a huge island… none of this against-the-rules wait list garbage the other places pull…) and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the store. Like another mentioned, the ethnic food aisle is pretty expansive and the beer/wine section is great too. I’ve had pretty mixed experiences with the staff, though, and that’s why I’ve rated it a 3 and not a 4(for a grocery store to warrant a 5, it would have to be a Whole Foods with the prices of an Aldi). PROS: –Great selection of wine/beer –Super clean, lots of parking –Easy to navigate aisles –Fair prices, as Kroger/Dillons/Etc. usually are CONS: –On my handful of trips there, I’ve been met with marked indifference from staff who seem tired and unengaged. Its not bad… but its not good either. –Odd location that is really only handy if you live right by it. Otherwise dealing with 288 and the feeders is a little cumbersome when there are perfectly good alternatives South of it.

Yes, I know Kroger is a grocery store like most others, but this location is something special. First of all, its about 5 minutes from my door, which is awesome. Secondly, its not the typical Kroger… its a Market of sorts-kinda like Central Market, but on a smaller scale. The Highlights: Huge produce department Fresh Sushi made daily thats actually pretty good. The deli has great selection of meats and cheeses Bakery makes fresh bread throughout the day Great wine/beer selections that almost competes with Specs The ethnic food selection consists of more than one tiny section on a single aisle. So yeah, its Kroger but it sure has a lot to offer beyond the typical grocery store fare. Go Pearland Shadow Creek Kroger-I am a FAN!!!
