Deep South Barrels

I’ve just ordered and received three barrels. One of the three had a problem. (fault of the cooper NOT D.S.B.!) The customer service was amazing. They looked at my order and issued a replacement in one phone call. The replacement item shipped the next day. Can’t say enough good about this level of service. I haven’t started the aging process yet, just got the replacement barrel today. Great Job Deep South!

I have bought my husband 4 barrels, including the cigar barrel, and they are amazing. I love that I can personalize them to make them extra special. The customer service I receive each and every time has been so great. We actually ordered our last barrel and wanted to make a few adjustments as the picture didn’t come out like we imagined. Not only did they work with me to get it perfect but they never made me feel like I was wrong on inconveniencing them. We will definitely be adding to our collection soon.

Found these guys at the San Antonio Rodeo. I live in MD, so I ordered and had it sent to me. The engraving on the front/​top of the barrel was perfect. It turned out great!
I have used the barrel several times to age tequila blanco. Turned out perfect every time! Everyone who has tried one of my batches has loved it! I like experimenting with different ingredients and different aging times. Found 3 months is about spot on.
These guys make a great product and will continue to use. Just have to keep an eye on my barrel so no one walks away with it!

Absolutely love my barrel! I got this as a gift for my dad with the green lantern logo engraved it came out perfectly! This was a great gift, big hit at the party.

Saw these on Youtube and thought thats a great idea. I always wanted an aging barrel but a 55gal barrel is not very practicle. I didn’t know anyone made these in a size that fits anyones needs.
I bought 2 of the 2 liter barrels, 1 for myself and one for my (adult) son. He loves it to.
Have many ideas I’m looking to try.
DSB also helped me out with a shipping error I made and refunded the difference. They take good care of their custmers.

My only complant is, I wish I had about 4 or 5 of them so I could try more if my recipe ideas at once :)

We (my husband and I), first discovered Deep South Barrels at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, Calfornia.
The first time we saw them was several years ago, and from the moment we saw them, my husband wanted them all!!! You buy the barrel, then you buy the little bottles of «essence» that help you create your liquor. You combine the essence with a grain alcohol (like vodka, any non-​flavored alcohol), this combination, with some time-​sweet-​time, gives you some yummy tasting, adult beverages. You can experiment too, if you like. Mix it up, try creating different spirits. It usually takes like 3 weeks or so, to age your new beverage enough to drink. You can honestly age it as long as you like. Its up to you. My husband will age his for a couple months… he likes it like that.
They are such an awesome, cool idea. Great, Great gift.
So, the first barrel we got, I bought it as a gift for the hubby. He had no clue. He wanted one, but didnt want to spend the money. They start at around $ 100 (I believe). The people at Deep South Barrels are EXTREMELY knowledgable about the barrels, how they are made, how to care for them, how to make the different liquors, wines, etc in them. Super, super nice people. I cant say that enough. Deep South Barrels are very down to earth people.

My husband makes Jack Daniels-​like (Tennessee whisky) in his. The one thing I’m going to say, and its SUPER important. We were warned that: You MUST not let your barrel become dry inside. It must remain filled with liquid, even water. If you let the barrel «dry out»…you can develop a mold inside. Not a good thing, you trashed your barrel by doing that. At that point, you can turn it into a cool flower pot. Just follow the directions that you are given, and you will LOVE your barrel. You can have your barrel customized, just for you. They can burn whatever images or words you want on the front of your barrel… to make it all your own!!! Your own style, your own barrel.
The barrels come in all different sizes, really large, all the way down to cute little barrels. Also, when you first bring your barrel home, put water in it, for a few days. The barrel has to swell up. cuz its wood, and it will leak. So, as excited as you are to get your barrel home to use it, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Fill your barrel with water to allow it to swell. After a few days… you will be ready to start making spirits!!!
My husband loves his barrels. Ladies and Gentlemen, its the PERFECT gift. It truly is. My husband loves to go to his barrel, and pour himself a nice glass of whisky, that he made himself. We may be picking up a third barrel this year, who knows!!! They are that amazing!!!

I actually ordered from the online store. They had a lot of different options to choose from. After placing my order I was given to a page which had my order information and dates when my barrel was going to be worked on and shipped. Also, I was sent notification on when my barrel was shipped. I did have a few questions during the process and team was very responsive.

I saw these barrels at the local County Fair and remarked to my wife that that they seemed like a great idea. What do ya know, she listened and got me one (their engraved 1 liter barrel) for my birthday! Since I wasn’t sure how well the barrel would work at improving the taste of various spirits by aging for only a short time, my first use was mainly an experiment. I bought a bottle of the cheapest rum in the store and aged it for one month. I saved a little of the un-​aged rum to comparison taste with the aged rum. First, let me say that, the cheap, un-​aged rum was so bad that it was almost un-​drinkable! Very much like drinking rubbing alcohol! After aging for only one month the ‘aged’ rum tasted ‘ok’, not good but it was drinkable. That may not sound like much of a result unless you had tried the ‘before’ product, that barrel really did significantly improve the flavor of the rum that I aged.
Since the barrel appeared to work I thought I’d try again but with a better starting sprit. For my second try, I used a medium quality/​price un-​aged tequila and again, after only one month, the aging dramatically improved the flavor and smoothness of the tequila. The barrel aged tequila was easily equivalent to a medium priced anejo.
Finally, now that I know the barrel works as advertised, I use it to make a barrel aged Manhattan. This makes such a good cocktail that I never leave my barrel empty. I leave the cocktail in the barrel until it’s gone and then make another one in the same barrel. The last cocktail out of the barrel might have been in there for over three months and tastes FANTASTIC! I highly recommend these Deep South Barrels for aging your favorite spirit but you really have to try using it to make barrel aged cocktails!

Saw these guys at a local beerfest in Omaha, NE and was enamored. I knew I had the Christmas gift of the decade for my brother. He loved it so much, he bought 9 for his clients. He’s still raving about it. My only mistake was not buying a larger one. These folks were awesome to work with, they responded to questions and their appropriate level of email marketing eventually made me pull the trigger. How am I ever going to top this gift???
