I absolutely loved the food over here. This was the first time I had Venezuelan food and my experience was wonderful. I got introduced to this restaurant through one of my colleagues when he ordered pollo domino from here. I have now been here good 3 – 4 times. I recommend trying their side of potatoes as well. As far as the dessert goes, I feel there is a room for improvement. The restaurant is very clean and quiet with ample of street parking but it could get crowded during afternoon.

Had another visit to La Arepa and figured it was time for an updated review… STILLAWESOME! I love how fresh and flavorful everything is, the friendliness of the staff is a great point as well. I would eat there everyday if I could. Affordable and really worth every penny. This hole in the wall is a gem of Pawtucket! Check them out!

So if you’ve ever seen the movie ‘The Sound of Music’, then you can imagine that glorious scene where Julie Andrews is frolicking in the field singing. That is basically what my taste buds did at the flavors I experienced from this wonderful establishment. Need I say more?

I recently visited La Arepa for the first time. I rarely visit this side of Pawtucket, but La Arepa has certainly changed that. I would highly recommend trying the Pbelleon Arepa. it was delicious! the food portion was so big I ended up taking some of my meal home. if I didn’t talk so much during my meal I could have maybe finished it in one sitting, but no promises. Also, I loved the teeny mobiles on the walls. next time I visit I’ll have to find out where you guys get the teeny furniture from.

First, let me say this place is not about the atmosphere — it’s about great simple food! I came here with my family(15 of us). The food and service was outstanding! If you have never had an arepa — it’s like a pita but made of corn(yes, it’s gluten free!) instead of bread. Choose your filling(beef, pork, chicken) and you have somewhat of a sandwich, gluten-free and low carb. Today I shared plates — I had the beef arepa, the pork arepa and chicken salad arepa. All amazing! How much do we like this place? We have been visiting Rhode Island for the last three days and have been here three times! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for healthy– cooked to order(very fresh, homemade) good tasting food or anyone looking for a low carb or gluten free option.

Arepas are really delicious and… their plantains are better than fries!!!

Seriously, what is in their stewed beef? Cooked to perfection, the beef is deeply flavored, juicy, moist, tender and just the right amount of messy within the arepa– a grilled corn cake with a harder crisp exterior but soft within(like the best of us)– overflowing with shredded cheese and avocado(um. yes). After the first bite of the deliciousness that is the pabellon arepa, my best guess is that their secret ingredients are happiness and rainbows… Is that too cheesy?(good thing there’s cheese in the arepa, too). Top it with either or both of their available sauces and just ENJOY. One arepa leaves you comfortably satisfied, though I understand if you get several, because they’re so freaking good. Partner the deliciously salty, savory arepa with sweet fried plantains and call it a day. — Atmosphere: well lit, open space makes for a relaxed, comfortable time for groups both large and small. Friendly service: they’re kind, attentive, and understanding of indecision over delicious menu items.

Absolutely delicious! Had arepas with shredded chicken, black bean, avocado, and cheese. Grabbed it for takeout. It was quick, inexpensive, and will definitely go back.

Had the arepas with chicken, which was delicious. Would have preferred something other than salad on the side, but the avocado was fresh. Next time I’ll get something else as a side dish. Service was good, and I will be back.

Good food. Nice to have solid basics. Very casual and nice to with meet with friends. No alcohol available at the location. But pretty descent food. Nice to have avocado and plantains with steak tips and a salad for $ 13.00. Honestly I would put this at 3.5 stars. Not sick but I avoided the sauces and cheese. Ok… Call me wierd but I can’t get into Cheese. When it’s sprinkled on stuff, I always feel suspect I know, my issue… They do hold the cheese… The sauces are based in sour cream. As not a lover of dairy, didn’t dig them, although I have never met a green food I did not love… Back to the Arepas… The Canadian in me, wanted to smother them in maple syrup… Oh well… Can’t fight a national preference!

Maybe I was too excited from the reviews I read online but I was not happy about it. Bad service, our order was mixed up, no real recommendation for what to order, and I had to get up and ask for sauce because of how long I waited. The food itself was tasty but I felt that it lacked texture, I wanted the arepas themselves to be more crispy, but the sauces were tasty. Kind of expensive for not that much food. Worth a shot if you really want an arepa but I probably won’t be back

Lovely authentic Venezuelan food. Family style atmosphere, small but well ventilated, lots of little knick knacks to look at. Prices are decent and the food is delicious. It is a bilingual establishment but it never hurts to brush up on your Spanish. I’ve only ever gotten take out from here but I feel it’s worth the 5 stars. It has a bit of a divey feel; not dirty, just very bare minimum/basics. They take credit cards although there may be a minimum. Not are since I’ve only ever used cash before. There’s a decent sized dining room that could accommodate one large party(looks to be about up to 15 people) and two twos scattered around it. Nice large windows lets in plenty of sunlight. There’s a lot of plant life in here as well which adds to the feeling that you’re in someone home. If you love corn cakes(las arepas!!!) come check this place out.

The food was amazing. I got the arepas con todo with steak. Pillows of the gods. The meat was properly seasoned, the service was pretty good, quick and efficient. Will be coming back.

Amazing, filling and inexpensive. Just go there already! A friend recommended this place and I am thankful he did. I can only compare Arepas to hamburgers even though they are nothing like them. It’s 2 thin corncakes with either chicken or shredded beef topped with black beans, avocados, cheese and plantains. They have a cilantro lime sauce and ketchup mayo. Both are delicious.

After being in Rhode Island for a year now I was starting to miss my Venezuelan food specially when it was so easy to find in Miami … Came here for the first time with my brother today and oh my god the food was amazing tasted just as good as my moms cooking !!! On top of that the service was wonderful and the place is decorated so cute made me feel like I was in a cute little restaurant in Venezuela. Glad to have found a place to go to when craving my Venezuelan food

Love love love this place. I have been here several times with co-workers when we want to treat ourselves with something different for lunch. The place is clean and the owner is so nice. The food is always delicious and very fresh. If you are in the area or nearby I highly recommend trying this place. I always get the same thing, shredded beef arepa with everything. Comes with a fresh and beautifully arranged salad with avocados… yum. If you are tight with time don’t worry as soon as you are seated they take your order and within a few minutes you are served this beautiful plate of food. Give it a try you will be pleasantly surprised.

I really wanted to like La Arepa the second time I went there. The first was for lunch and it was good. The second time, on a cold rainy Pawtucket day, it really was a bit of a let down. First, unlike some info online, they do NOT serve beer or wine, and you can’t go get some and have it there because it’s against the rules. Second, the food just wasn’t that good. And, it was expensive. I know that they need to make money but really a side of plantains should be more than two small slices. The atmosphere in the place was dreary, no life to it and I guess the waitress was okay… really a mediocre experience and for $ 37 for two with no beverages, we will definitely go somewhere else next time. Come on La Arepa, step it up!

My husband and I tried this restaurant on a recommendation, and since it’s in our neighborhood, figured we couldn’t go wrong. After taking a Zumba class, I was hankering for Spanish food so we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We both ordered the vegetarian plate and ordered sweet corn cakes for our toddler son. When the food came out, it looked like nothing special. A salad, black beans, rice, cheese and plantains… but Oh My God, what they did with it! I have no idea what they put in the black beans but they had a sweetness to them. And they served the meal with two sauces, an avocado sauce that was amazing on the salad and a pink, chipotle kind of sauce. After the loss of Cuban Revolution, I thought nothing could replace it, but I think I might have found the place!
