Nano-brewery. The owners/brewers really enjoy talking beer. I like that they are interested in experimenting with beer styles, and don’t just crank out«me too» brews.

Good beer, small batches, constantly rotating and experimenting, small friendly tasting room. The owner, was quite enthused about his product and methods, we enjoyed hearing his presentation. We took home pint glasses, a growler of the Hawaiian Porter, and a shirt. We will be back.

Being a beer geek I’m surprised I haven’t been here yet. Like all our other local breweries this place has some awesome beers. I had only previously tasted at beer festivals and wanted to try it right from the brewery. This is a chill Place to hang out for a while. The staff is über friendly and the pours are generous. Support our local beers And come check it out for sure. And if you go take me with me. I had quite an enjoyable afternoon there.

Disappointed once again. This was our third time trying this brewery and while we wanted to really love it since we try to support the local breweries, we were underwhelmed again. The beers are average at best and $ 8.00 for three small samples is a bit steep compared to what you get at the other RI breweries. On all three visits its been crowded and service is slow and kind of unorganized.

I absolutely love what Crooked Current does and what they stand for. They pride themselves on being a small brewery(despite recently moving to a larger space) and they do quality over quantity. I have visited twice in the past few months, the first time in their original space and just yesterday in their new, larger space. One thing for sure is the move has not changed their beers nor should it have. The beers have quality ingredients and perhaps my favorite thing about them is if they state in the description that a certain ingredient was added, you WILL taste that ingredient. For example, there has been a recent influx of coconut porters. Most have subtle or barely there flavors. Crooked Current has their own take on this called the Robust Hawaiian Porter. This has some major coconut flavor and is absolutely delicious. They are also currently offering their Egg Nog milk stout which has a strong cinnamon influence but somehow balances perfectly and makes for a great winter/holiday beer. They also had the Immorality IPA which was around back in the fall which I just absolutely love. In the fall they had an Oatmeal Raisin Stout and the popular Plunderdome Pumpkin Maple Ale which is a must try. With some new beers slated for the upcoming months I am really excited to see what the future holds for Crooked Current and I plan to make many more return visits. It’s nice to be able to actually meet the Brewer and the gentleman who works at the tasting bar is just a great guy; always informative, friendly and appreciative. Show some local craft beer love and go visit Crooked Current. You’ll be glad you did.

Crooked Current is the most exciting brewery going in the PVD-area right now despite being the smallest in the state. I read an article about them having a female brewmaster who made dessert inspired beers and I was intrigued. We came here before visiting Foolproof(about a three minute drive away if you want to brewery hop) and was delighted by the bright teal-blue paint, cheerful holiday decorations, and mob-inspired motif. While many breweries aim for a bit of a masculine vibe Crooked Current embraces it’s femininity without losing any edge. The cute, small visitor space is complemented by how inviting the staff are(even when swamped with visitors like they were this Saturday). $ 5/person to sample the three brews they have on tap. I loved everything I drank and I am a very picky beer drinker. The oatmeal raisin stout and Immorality Pale Ale were the standouts for me, and I am eager to come back and try their seasonal flavors when they are in stock. I see big things in the future for this little brewery, hope they become a staple in the local beer scene.

I had a very enjoyable time when I visited the brewery. I was able to talk about beer with Nichole(the brew master) and Jay. They are very nice people, and they make great beer. I sampled three brews during my visit. I had a stout, IPA, and a pumpkin ale. All three beers were very tasty, and I took home a growler of the pumpkin ale. I was very pleasantly surprised by the IPA. These days many brewers like to flavor their IPAs with an overabundance of hops. That market definitely is covered elsewhere by many other breweries. Fortunately(for me), Crooked Current’s IPA is less hop-forward than so many other IPAs on the market. It was a very pleasant surprised. I’ll definitely visit this brewery again.

Female brew master, amazing seasonal brews, fairly priced. So glad I found this hidden gem. It’s a little tough to find but totally worth it. We had such a great time chatting with the staff and drinking amazing beer. The pumpkin maple, oatmeal cookie, and an IPA were on tap when were there and each one was better than the next. You also get a pint glass to take home. I LOVED this place. If you are a fan of beer, you NEED to check this place out.

Crooked Current Brewery is new, and is the smallest brewery in the state of RI. They have been on tap at some locations for the seasonal beverages, though it’s better to be at the brewery to try the different types of beers to get a sense of what you like and because it’s fun! Talking to the only female brew master, Nichole Pelletier, in RI is awesome because you get to learn so much about the business and how the business got started and where they are now. We started with the Chocolate Coconut. I am not a fan of coconuts in general but this beer is delicious and the chocolate flavoring is very good. It is a very good brown ale to enjoy and it is not heavy. The second beer is the Raspberry Wheat, and it is a very good, refreshing beer. It is a great summer beer to enjoy. The third beer is the Oatmeal Raisin Stout beer. Very good stout, wish I had a oatmeal raisin cookie to dip in the beer. This is a great brewery and definitely a place to visit!

Smallest brewery in the state with the only female brew master, those words alone intrigued me to check out Crooked Current Brewery. Located in an industrial building, it’s pretty easy to find and once inside I was greeted by Nicole and started on a tasti6of their thee current brews, a raspberry wheat, an oatmeal raisin stout and a chocolate coconut Porter. Nicole is a fable and charming and her beers are pretty solid line up for only being operational since October 2014. She was a home brewer for several years before taking the plunge and opening up Crooked Current and although the brewery is super small(bucket brewery was housed their prior to their move) none of the beers were bad. Each had their own complexity and although I am not a Porter or stout fan, I am a fan of her brews. In the end I ended up with a growler of Raspberry Wheat(more of a summer beer). Cheers to Nicole, she’s got a good thing and I wish nothing but the best for her in the future. Sampler tastings are $ 9 and you get a pint glass to bring home with you. Liquor laws are different in Rhode Island so don’t think you will get unlimited pours. That will require purchasing another tasting sampler.
