Nablus Pastry & Sweets

By far the best middle eastern bakery — I can only eat their baklava now. Or if I make my own! They offered us sample when we were in there and I wound up buying a 5lb box of assorted cookies and pastries. Within 3 days the box was empty in my house we are all big fans!

Love this dessert place! Got the crispy kunafeh and the phyllo dough filled with cheese. Yum! Also got a box of their baklava to go, delicious! Can’t wait to try everything else!

My first visit to Nablus was about seven years ago and I’ve been back several times. I remember their original store that I fell in love with. This place is very special to me. I had the pleasure of returning in April to see the new store, and it’s beautiful. Their knafeh is delicious, and their pistachio baklava is the stuff that dreams are made of. I love this place and will always be coming back. Wish it was closer to me.

This bakery was absolutely beautiful inside! The pastries were extremely fresh and you have the ability to build your own platter to take to go. The customer service was exceptional and the sweets were served to perfection! I highly recommend coming to this place, as I plan on returning again and again!

The place is superb. In my last review I gave 4 stars because of the interior decoration. Now that they moved to the new place it is awesome. Still great food! Better looking place! Friendly people. Perfect spot for dessert or to buy wrapped food item gifts.

If you ask me, I prefer homemade Knafeh over store-​bought, unless it’s overseas. But they make good knafeh here and my dad who is very picky, loves it. So they get an extra star for that.
What I do love here is their amazing amazing amazing, did I say amazing? COOKIES. Best cookies I’ve ever had. They are so fresh and just absolutely delicious. This is the place to go for cookies … my god, I am drooling just thinking about them.
Next time I’m in the area, I’m going to pick some more cookies.

The best Arabic sweets in the East Coast. The prices are great and the service too. I highly recommend this place.

I had heard about this place for a while from my Palestinian friend and I finally had a chance to come here back in October. We tried two different kinds of knafeh and they were both really awesome! The interior is small, but there are plenty of tables and seats and the prices are reasonable. It’s overall a great place and I would definitely come back here again!

Good kunafa! We were confused about the location in the beginning (they moved their location temporarily to the other side of the road). Enjoyed the taste of every bite!

My friend and I came here specifically for Knafeh after reading the reviews on Unilocal,and I have to admit: it was absolutely delicious! Hope to come again and try the baklava as well :)

I am new to NJ but I have to say that the this the best Knefa and Sweets in Town! As good and even better than those I have in Lebanon.

It is blasphemous to not love Nablus and I grew up with it. But, I have to say the kunafa has become bland this past year. I do enjoy their baklava, and they have wonderful assortment. Their basbusa is also very good.
The point though, is that while things are good, it is NOT the BEST I’ve had.
Also, this summer I discovered Turkish kunafa– it is different from arab kunafa so try it at a Turkish place to compare your favorite styles (crispy vs. soggy, covered in sweet sugar sauce or not).
There is also another arab sweet shop in town whose name I cannot remember but it is a REAL competition and beats Nablus in my opinion. Ask around, try both… and find your arab dessert spot with some exploration… sounds delicious to me! I would start here since this is a STAPLE for Arab P-​town.
The price is beyond reasonable, so that’s a great plus.

This is my go to place to get Middle Eastern desserts. They have all types and choices. I love the baklava and the honey cookies. And the price is reasonable, and they sell by pound or half pound.

I live 5 hours away out of state, but every time I visit Jersey, I always get a box of sweets with me to take home. My family always finishes the box on the way back. :’(

This is one of the best middle eastern pastry shops in paterson. I brought a big box of assorted pastries for my office and they were all raving about it.
Especially during Ramadan their business picks up and they all have the freshest deserts. You seriously cannot go wrong with any of the deserts.

This place is crème of the crop when it comes to middle eastern pastries and I only wish I lived closer. No trip to Paterson ends without me picking up a bunch of sweets from Nablus. Everytime I come here I get the Kunafa which is the most popular item. Its made with semolina and sweet cheese and baked into a syrup. It is ADDICTIVE.
In addition to Kunafa, anything made with crème filling is good.
They also have these fried donught hole pastries called «awamat» which are a hit with everyone I know.

Nablus does it best.
I thought it might be because Orange is my Kryptonite, and I am defenseless against its charms, but a little research revealed that the city of Nablus is famous for the Kunafeh and has been tempting sweet tooths for centuries! So, it is but to be expected that Nablus Sweets would live up to the reputation. I also took comfort from the fact that as I was selecting the other desserts, many customers came in to ask for the Kunafeh by name. Nablus has two great versions: Khishnah (long thin vermicelli threads) and Naima (semolina pieces clustered together), that are served heated to customers. I was thoroughly impressed that despite the syrup, rose water and cheese, the two versions were barely sweet. Given the foot traffic that Nablus gets (where people stop by to chat over a piece of Kunafeh), it is always safe to assume freshness in the items sold by piece (as opposed to by pound).
But, Nablus isn’t a one-​trick pony. While I’ve tried and liked their Baklava versions, and they do a competent job of the Shaibiyat and Nammoura (especially a new one with candied fruit and nuts) — they have two desserts that I haven’t seen at any other Middle Eastern bakery /​pastry shop. One is called Aziza (baked sweet cheese) and the other is called «Shehad…» (missing the full name, and damn the lack of name tags!) which has almost a cake like texture with a cheese filling. Perhaps the best new Middle Eastern dessert I’ve discovered lately.
Nablus also has some interesting cookies, and two of the versions that I left for my colleagues got gobbled up fairly soon. One is a white chocolate one with strawberry preserve filling and with an almond on top, while the other has two layers of chocolate with caramel sandwiched between them. I found the latter a bit too sweet, but enjoyed their take on pistachio and almond truffles.
Beyond the excellent quality and freshness of their desserts, I’ve always been greeted with a warm smile and the service has been both patient and helpful in guiding me through the dessert selection on display. They also have ample seating available should you wish to enjoy the heated Kunafeh in the shop. And you should. Unless you’re missing a few taste buds, or brain cells.
