Beach Bum Tanning Patchogue

Beach Bum is probably one of the most expensive tanning facilities in the area.
The only reason I come here is because they’re close, somewhat affordable with a student discount ($ 40 a month), and have low level stand up equipment (unlike Island Glow/​Galaxy/​and Sunset Beach).
The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any and all questions I have. They are Smart Tan certified, and know the difference between UVA and UVB rays, and how high pressure tanning (purple square bulbs vs the fluorescent) can be beneficial once you have a base tan. They really know their stuff.
While they always seem adequately staffed, often times I wait 5 – 10 minutes to «check-​in», which only has to take about 30 seconds.
They constantly try and upsell with lotion packets, the only time this is worth it is on Sunday when buying a packet ($ 6~) gets you an upgrade to the next level bed.
Also, kudos to them for providing eyewear at no additional cost, other places charge which is ridiculous.
Their beds are very hit or miss, and it sucks because the full time in one bed can burn me, while another bed would give me absolutely no color (albeit the same level).
All in all, only come here if you’re very close to this location. Their lackluster prices/​service is only worth it if A– You live close and B– Buy a monthly package.
An infrequent tanner would most likely prefer a place such as those listed above, that have daily/​weekly deals on single sessions.

Nice staff and clean rooms/​booths! Have been going there for 2 years and have never encountered a grumpy person behind the desk, always willing to help. But most importantly, it’s very clean! Will definitely continue going there

This place is huge! WOW, so many rooms. I am new to tanning but the staff guided me in the right direction before my vacation. Very happy with the color I got and the new tanning knowledge.
