Another must in Paso. The wines are terrific and mostly affordable. The people are the best! So friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Take a snack and use their outdoor tables for a lunch with their wine. Great views!

Tasted the non-Rose line-up. Maybe should have tasted the Rose line-up. Tasting fee $ 7 for either of their line-ups is reasonable. Owner Genoa Riley was a great hostess for the tasting. She is darling.

Loved my visit here. Kevin was wine room personnel slash winemaker slash area concierge extraordinaire. And the wines were really tasty!

Great wines and great people! You can’t go wrong here, particularly if you like fruit-forward but well-balanced Zinfandels and Petite Sirahs(not so much of the big tannic reds common in the area). They’ve got a flight of three Rosés as well — not something you see too often.

There a few weekends ago. Nice wines, friendly people, we were surprised after buying 3 bottles of wine we were still charged the tasting fee. VERY unusual in our local Paso Robles area!

My son, daughter in-law and toddler grandson enjoyed a Paso Robles long weekend. Having a classically trained French chef son, I was excited to introduce them to the fabulous wines of the region. We stumbled on Proulx by accident, while looking for another nearby vinyard. Boy, were we glad we decided to make that turn up the long drive. We had the extreme pleasure of meeting Genoa Riley’s father, Carl(an artist, his paitings are hanging and available to purchase). He shared the Riley’s story, which is also his story, having worked and toiled the vinyard in the early days to bring it back to life for his daughter and son-in-law to produce their handcrafted wines. Alive it is. We enjoyed tasting each of the the majic blends offered, but the 12 Proulx Jack Barrett was a standout! We ended up joining the wine club and buying a case. Aside from the outstanding wine, the view of the vinyard from the tasting room is breathtaking. Please make this one of your visits next time you are wine tasting in Paso. You are in for a treat!

Super cute family owned and operated winery with some great zins. Take the time to travel through the farmyard and up the little dirt track to the tasting rooms, you won’t be disappointed! Watch out for bob the cat, the feline welcoming committee. One pat and she’ll follow you anywhere, let her into the tasting room and she’ll be your friend for life! Favorites here included the black label zin and The Wah. Delicious wine, laid back and friendly service, Proulx should be on everyone’s hit list when wine tasting in the Paso area.

Beautiful vineyard, friendly people, and amazing wine makes for a perfect wine tasting experience! Family owned and run, these folks made us feel at home. Can’t wait to go back.

I went to several… several wineries around the Paso Robles area and north of that area. Let me just say that Proulx is the only winery where I bought a case and had it shipped back to NYC. Yes — they ship!!! I am particularly blown away by the rose wines offered by this winery. The Cab Sav is also pretty smashing. Wine prices are very low for such high quality wine. Kevin, our host during the tasting, was very generous in his pours and was just a treat as our guide through his wines. Not sure what else to say except that finding this place was a highlight during our wine trail adventure. Coming to this place should be a no-brainer for you, Unilocal Reader!

Stopped in here on our way to Hearst Castle, it’s a little off the main road, but definitely worth the extra two minute drive. Up a dirt road you’ll find a modern building disguised as a barn. The tasting room is small but comfortable and has local scenery art on the walls. Kevin, the winemaker was extremely friendly and non pressuring. It was really cool to be able to talk to the actual creative person behind the wines and to hear his story. All the wines were good and very fairly priced. The view is gorgeous with nothing but rolling hills of vineyards for miles in sight. If you’re going to do some wine tasting in Paso Robles, Proulx should definitely be on your list.

Proulx has everything I like in a winery. Definitely had good wines, but we also had a very good conversation with the guys serving the wine, who had a very deep knowledge of the wines and the region. This was our first stop on a day of visiting wineries, and it really set a high bar for everything else(they also had good recommendations for what those other wineries should be, which panned out as well). I’ll definitely be back. It’s a little out of the way if you’re coming from Paso Robles, but if you take the 46 out to Vineyard Dr., there are a few good ones out there to see(Proulx, Brecon, and Thacher, south to north) that have great wines in great settings. We came from Cambria, but it’s well worth getting out to the west side.

So, before my most recent trip to Paso Robles, I decided to do some research and try to find some Zins that I had not tried yet. Somewhere in my mass of google searches and following links, I stumbled upon Proulx. Their web site listed 3 Zins, I checked Unilocal, and they had a 4.5 star rating. So, I bookmarked it. I had several places bookmarked for the trip and no set plan on visiting in any particular order. We were heading south on Vineyard drive when I decided this would be our next stop. Warning, this place is easy to miss. They are just South of Jada Winery. I actually almost missed it even using GPS. In short, this place was the hidden gem I was looking for! The tasting… Kevin, the winemaker was pouring for us. He is very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to talk to. We started with a Rose, not really my thing, but I am not a huge Rose fan anyway. Next was the Red Label Zin, the medium priced of their 3 Zins(the lower priced yellow label was sold out). This Red label was my style on Zin, not overly jammy, but not tannic. I was planning on buying a bottle. Next was a blend called Dimples. This was good but not really what I was looking for. Next came the Black label Zin. This was so good, I bought a bottle of this instead of the Red label. Next was a Petite Sirah(Black label I think). This was my wife’s favorite(at least up to this point). I also liked the Petite Sirah enough to buy a bottle. Finally, our last tasting was a blend named Jack Barrett. Wow… One of my favorite blends I’ve tasted. We ened up taking a bottle of that too! Later in the day we met some friends at another winery. We told them about our experience and planned to take them the next day. We did, mtgey liked it and we bought a second bottle of the Jack Barrett. This winery is on my list of places that I will visit the next time I visit Paso. I highly recommend this winery.

We loved visiting this charming winery yesterday! The winemaker and owner were both there and were wonderful to speak to about the history of the winery. I enjoyed the reds quite bit! The petite sirah’s were wonderful.

The Jack Barrett 2011 is like tasting art! Masterful! My favorite winery in Paso and returned for a case of the Blackburn Cab-sold out! I knew once the word got out on this new winery gem, I’d have to be quicker in stock piling my likings. Several cases loaded in my trunk this time of a new adventure in wine art. This wine maker is my style of better than good wine.

Amazing wine, great family winery, and great fun! We got to taste today with the winemaker Kevin who was the original winemaker for one of the big wineries nearby and recently decided to go on his own with his wife Genoa and his three kids. He is old school and makes wine the slow and good way and does not comprimise wines by adding sugar the way some other places do. The wines are like they used to be! The wines to try are the 10 dimples, 11 petite surah, and the most amazing 11 jack Barrett! Best wine I have ever had! Very family friendly with chickens, geese, ect and goldfish crackers!!! If you love wine, make sure you go here either solo or last as no other winery will be as good.

A tasting room with a beautiful view, what more can you ask for! We enjoyed the 2010 Petit Sirah Red Label & the 2009 Zinfandel Black label. We left with both bottles! Really glad we made a stop here, it was well worth it.

«It’s pronounced ‘Pru’» was the first words said to us as we stepped up to the tasting room bar, which quickly answered my first question. All my subsequent questions were completely answered by the father of the winery owners, who was really nice and let us taste wines outside of the regular tasting lineup. We ended up leaving with a bottle of the young grenache rose, which was light and sweet, great for a summer day. Most of their other wines can be had for less than $ 20, I almost got the yellow label petite syrah, but wanted to save my wallet for the rest of the wineries. The winery itself is set along a slightly sloping hillside. You drive about half a mile from vineyard drive through a rustic area where we were informed they have some miniature ponies. At the top of the hill is the tasting room, where there is a chicken roost and some exotic looking fowl running about. The vines grow along the ridge of the hill making for some great photo opportunities. Be sure to stop by for a taste($ 5), you won’t regret it!
