Reflex has just expanded! This is hands down the best gym in Pasadena. Great trainers clean bathrooms and new equipment. Perfect gym for hard core fitness junkies and great for beginners looking to get in shape!

As a physical therapist, I am always looking for great personal trainers to refer my patients to. Not only do I send my patients who need strengthening to Tom, but I use him personally, as my own personal trainer. Tom is great at watching your form and body mechanics. He always makes sure that you are performing movements correctly and not compensating with the wrong muscles during your workout. When you workout with Tom, you will avoid injuries instead of creating them.

i hate pull-ups. tom knows this, and chuckles every time i give him the«really? do i have to do these?» look… and yes, he makes me do these loathsome things every monday. so why do i keep coming back? for a few reasons: — he’s a stickler for form: whether i’m doing push-ups, shoulder-press, or lunges, he’s quick to point out whenever i start to slouch. he’s very conscientious about targeting the correct muscle groups without damaging the rest of you. — i’m constantly challenged. many exercises that he has me do involve multiple muscle groups, and are super-setted. and as soon as i think i got bulgarian lunges down, he steps it up and has me do bulgarian jumps. he combines«power» moves with others designed to improve your posture and balance. — tom is passionate about being healthy, not just«muscley». his knowledge of nutrition is amazing. rather than regurgitating what you read on the ‘net, in mags, etc. he explains food/vitamins with an insightful and logical spin. — i’ve never been stronger. i mean, i’ve always been active, and thought i was in pretty good shape before training with tom. but in the relatively short time(4ish months) that i’ve been working with him, i’ve noticed not only a dramatic change in how much weight i’m able to move around, but my body composition is much improved as well. long story short, any poser can go to a mega-chain gym, do some bench-press and flex their superficial pecs at the dance club. but if you want to improve your body and overall health, and get functionally strong, go see tom. …just don’t snivel about pull-ups. i have that one cornered :)

Tom is a wonderful trainer. I’ve been ill for years and Tom understands that and watches that I don’t overdo but helps me efficiently and easily gain cardiovascular and physical strength. My posture is much better now as we work on my back muscles while we «turn off» my upper traps and front muscles. He has a very technical and personal approach. No ‘one size fits’ all like traditional gyms. Tom is extremely knowledgeable as far as nutrition, the body and how it functions, training the smart way instead of the tedious way. And, he is also very personable and great to talk to. I highly recommend him as a personal trainer.
