I’ve been coming to Fair Market for just about as long as I’ve been a resident of Pasadena. The husband and wife, family-oriented team that runs this place have always been nice to BabyGirl and I. They’ve known BabyGirl since she was in the womb, HA! Postpartum, I’d always make a pit-stop here during long stroller walks around town. I’d park BabyGirl and the stroller underneath the lottery counter as I stood by frantically watching the Hot-Spot TV screen and scratching scratchers! The shelves and refrigerators are clean and neatly stacked with foods, drinks, snacks, toiletries, LIQUORS, and such things that come in quantities that are only meant to get you through the night OR until you can make it to the BIGTIME grocery store. I’ve splurged on a few items like gum, chips, gummi-bears, ice-cream for BabyGirl… but it’s a bit too pricey for my balling-on-a-budget-self. Once, I nearly swallowed my tongue while pricing a can of RedBull. The wifey was entirely too nice for me to let her see me sweat but I still found a way to frown and politely DECLINE the energy-booster. I purchased an EXTRA scratcher to calm my nerves instead. The majority of items I’ve witnessed being toted-out after purchase: LOTTERYANDLIQUOR! FYI: A while ago, they ceased to enable gamblers, after shockingly going cold turkey and stopping the sells of addictive CA lottery paraphernalia. I wondered how long they would last, financially??? Then, as fast as it disappeared, it was right back up and running again. This includes their enormous collection of past-winning lottery tickets that adorn the walls and other parts of the store. They attach a prize-claim ticket to the original ticket-along with a date and the autographed signature of the famous winner-for all of the hopeful lottery playing customers to see. Parking inside of the lot is a bit messy! It’s shared with the rest of the strip mall stores and there is only one-way in and one-way out… «Sorry, Not A Winner!» has appeared on plenty of my lottery scratchers and tickets, yet overall, this place is a winner in itself and has always been good to ME! …and, my BabyGirl!
