Been coming here for years, and I love to support small businesses. The Beef Brisket used to be amazing. Not sure if they changed the recipe or changed vendors who they get it from, but lately its not good at all. Please go back to the old vendors and use the old recipe for the Beef Brisket that you used to have. I personally wont mind paying an extra dollar for the old beef brisket recipe. The new beef brisket barley taste like beef anymore, not sure why it was changed.

Tasty, tender, and home made goodness, oh my!!! The Short Ribs, Rib Tips, Briskett, Hot Link Sausage, Collards, Jalapena Cornbread Muffin, and Peach Cobbler so savory and hits the soul, along with the jazz vibes… Thank you, yes, will be back for more –

If I lived close, there might be a slight chance that I would return. I had the brisket and tasted the pulled pork. there was nothing special about either. The mac & cheese was dry. The collards tasted like«doctored up» canned greens. I’m not saying that they were, but that’s the way they tasted. the beans were tasty, the potato salad was average. I was really disappointed that a corn muffin was $ 1.02. That was UNREAL. AND… it was dry. The peach cobbler was delcious and the service was good.

Just went there on Saturday because we were in the area and hungry. Tiny little place(most of the best places are), with great people. I had the big order of spareribs, along with baked beans and okra and tomatoes over rice. In my experience, Spareribs have always been tough, so I have always done baby backs. This place doesn’t need to bother with baby backs. The spareribs were SO good, and SO fall off the bone, I was in heaven. The meat was juicy, with a beautiful smoke ring and wonderful flavor. The beans were cooked al dente, with a bit of texture. I’ve never had them that way. I’m a convert. New for me was the okra and tomatoes over rice. It was delicious. Now, I’m not going to say I’m on a hunt for the ultimate BBQ, but if I was, I would give this place a good look and taste. To not do so is doing yourself an injustice. My kid, who hates everything and did not want to go, walked up to the man at the counter and said«I like BBQ now, and want to eat this every day.» Now THAT says something! So I give them 5 stars and will go again next time I’m close.

Minus not having a bathroom when I really had to go, the food was great! The BBQ Sauce was bomb! I do agree with others that charging for a small amount extra to go when its on the tables is absurd, but its so good, I don’t mind paying for it!

Although the food is decent, the service was not. I had been shorted and item I had ordered and paid for, and called the restaurant. The manager was nice and promised to correct my order the next time I was in and for my trouble, add a free item. When I went to get my order a few weeks later, a different manager acknowledged the short order, but refused to offer any gifts or apologies. She was rude and told me that they don’t need my business. I walked out with no order, replacement or apology.

Here because I attended a meeting at a park and was looking for food. I stumbled upon this place. ^_^ I ordered the hot link platter with collard greens, potato salad, and 2 corn muffins. I dont know authentic soul food because my father was not around for too long, but it brought me back to when he was around. The collard greens are not waterlogged. They are delicious and still maintain a bit of crunch. The hot link deelicious! I am glad it was chicken too! The potato salad is just how I like it!!! No celery or olives! Everything is so tasty. So delicious. Scrumptious. Would I go back? Yes! The owner was very polite and patient with me. The other fellow was polite and very kind. Welcoming vibe.

Finger licking good barbecue here. The rib tips are more than enough and the potatoe salad and yams are sure to hit the spot. If you don’t have time to wait I recommend calling ahead and ordering otherwise step right up and enjoy some good old barbecue. The ambience is nice and clean. Alot of photos on the wall celebrating black history. Recommended to families for a nice dinner after church.

Super authentic. The wife and I had a combination of ribs and sides. Give money to these nice people. It won’t be fancy, but for what it is, it’s one of the best.

This place really hit the spot! Although it’s a hole in the wall, and easy to miss, I actually had to drive by two times to find it, it is definitely worth the extra effort! I really enjoyed their beef brisket, Mac & Cheese, the delicious candied yams, potato salad and the sweet baked beans. This is more of a takeout spot although they do have tables that you can eat at. I also really enjoy their unique flavor of Sweet Tea! I will definitely be back!

Moving here from Atlanta made me miss good bbq… I was so happy to find this place! The food is delicious, the meat is tender and their sides are really good. The people that work here are always really nice as well. This is a must try for anyone who likes good bbq. I like to get the combo plate with with ribs and chicken along with collard greens and potatoes salad. They also have fried catfish on the weekends!

Stopped here on a Saturday evening. I had the hot link dinner plate. My go to sides are mac & cheese and yams so of course that’s what I went with. My hubby got a tri-tip dinner plate. Pros: BBQ is BBQ, ya know? Even when it’s bad, it’s still good. Kinda like pizza. BBQ is always a treat. They are open a bit later than the bbq spots in my hometown, which is great. They also have different sauces for you to choose from, which sets them apart from other bbq restaurants. The yams were good. Cons: The portions were rather small — especially for the price. Mac & cheese is my absolute favorite food and I was disappointed that it turned out to be so dry here. The food is good, but not great. My hubby agreed and felt like the price wasn’t justified in the portions or flavor. Would I eat here again? Hmmm, if someone else was paying, sure!

The magic is in the sauce. Some of the best BBQ sauce I’ve ever had. Get the standard ribs, not the rib tips(although that is most popular) because it’s not really fall off bone. Mac and cheese was awesome too!

4 stars on Unilocal,Zagat rated thought we’d take a chance. Ordered the two meat combo dinner ribs, pulled pork collard greens and candied yams. Out comes of small plate with two little ribs that were extremely soft like they were soaked in a barbecue brine. Must have gotten 5 bites each and one end of the ribs was fat or inedible. They must have run out of pulled pork and tried to pull off subbing a dry chopped pork rib as a substitute. Really I wouldn’t know? I was offended. Collard greens were basic, nothing added for flavor and what I thought would be candied yams was just a creamy pile of seasoned yams, tastiest thing in my dish. Small portions and overpriced. My three other friends were not happy either and after we left had to stop off and get more food.

SUCH A GOODHOLEINTHEWALLPLACE. I came here post workout with my boyfriend. He got a 2 meat platter which was brisket and pork ribs. It came with 2 sides and a toast. The meat was so perfect and tender especially with the mild BBQ sauce! The candied yams are SO soft, it basically melts in your mouth perfectly. I got the half chicken with baked beans. The chicken was very good quality meat. It was a generous amount of meat. Perfect post workout meal. The beans were SO soft as well, kinda like the candied yams. I can tell they sweetened it with the same sweetener. Maybe cane sugar? The salad was got as a side was also a good amount and tasted very fresh! 11⁄10 would definitely come back again!!!

3.5 stars is more like it. Afterall LA isn’t place for barbecue, can’t ask for too much. Too bad rib tips was sold out that night, I picked ribs and brisket as my 2 meat combo. Ribs have good char, I can tell is truly smoked hours, a bit dry but acceptable. Brisket is chopped, quite moist. I would prefer slides like Bludso’s. Is this Oklahoma style? You get 3 kind of barbecue sauce to kick things up, or might as well mix your own barbecue cocktail. I found that candied yam is yummy, glad that I chose it as side.

3.5 stars for the friendly service, delicious ribs and super tasty hot bbq sauce. To be fair, I am Southern and I’m a little jaded when it comes to authentic bbq. We had: Large pork rib plate(4 bones), 3-meat sampler(2 ribs, chopped brisket and pulled pork), collard greens, mac n’ cheese, green salad, a Diet Pepsi(can) and water. Ribs are fan-freaking-tastic. They have a nice bark, subtle smokiness and falling off the bone tender. The chopped brisket was smokey, tender and juicy. The pulled pork was not good. It may have been«pulled» but barely. Large chunks, no bark, no smokiness, dry and chewy. The greens were cooked perfectly. I was surprised that this«authentic» Texas bbq place had never heard of Texas Pete’s hot sauce for greens(vinegar and hot chilis) and they did need just a bit of spicing up. No meat in the greens, which is fine if you’re vegan, but I like some ham hock flavor. Mac ‘n’ Cheese was just meh. Nothing like the creamy, custardy, cheesy mac I grew up on. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Bonnie and her nephew. Very nice people who were eager to please. Grand total inculding tip $ 40.

Let’s cut to the chase! This place is sooooo good! How we kept away for over two years is just senseless. Here’s what we love and what we can live without: Musts: Ribs Chicken(says my man, but he loves chicken while I don’t but it is tasty here) Brisket Yams Greens Potato salad(a little dash of pepper wouldn’t hurt) Pass: Jalapeño cord bread muffin Mac and cheese Pulled pork Rib tips sell out early so keep this in mind. Sweet tea is very sweet and very good! The medium sauce is soooo good, I stopped myself from pouring it right down my throat and the food is amazing without it but once discovering how good it is I wanted it on every last bite! Private parking lot around back or street parking in front.
