Waited 2 hours for food on a reserved table. Would not recommend this place for dinner when busy. 630 – 830, our orders weren’t even on the cooks line yet, the waiter had to take an order from another table and give it to us to keep us here. A party of 14, could have left, but my grandpa and my aunt are elderly and finding a place to seat us this late would be impossible. Couldn’t leave a zero star, but this is a management problem, not a waiter or chef problem. I come here regularly for dim sum and only felt I had to review after this current experience. I will never return to this place again.

This place might be a little more authentic for my taste buds that I need it to. We came here with a bunch of coworkers. One of them being Chinese ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees for all of us. We shared all the food and I got to try several dished. The waitresses didn’t speak English so everything you needed had to be translated. The place looked a little dirty. The tables and the whole décor looked rundown. The food was brought pretty quickly and for me it tasted very plain and slimy. But again, it’s probably me not being used to this type of food. It seemed very authentic though.

I took friends from China to Qin Dynasty and they said their crispy garlic chicken was as good as any restaurant that they have ever been to. So we no longer go into Chinatown for authentic Cantonese cuisine when it’s available in NJ.

This Chinese restaurant has dim sum and dinner specials. However, I usually find their dishes really greasy. We come here for family gatherings and I felt sick every time after. However, the service is usually decent and the price is inexpensive. It’s better than Chinese take out

We were there again on Sunday for Dim Sum and this was a very disappointing visit. Some of the items were not even warm. In fact, one item was actually closer to ice cold. The chefs special clams were some of the worst I have tasted. Many shells were broken, some were broken and yet unopened. I may have even contracted food poisoning from a bad clam since I got sick later that afternoon and was sick for two days after that. We’ll head back to one of the other places on Route 22. It’s further away, but worth it for hot food and no food-borne illness.

Came here for lunch on New Year Eve, food was great as usual but service was horrible. Servers kept ignoring and never came to our table, even if they saw us waving our hands, they kept pretending and ignoring us. They wrote down the wrong items than those we ordered. Will we come back again… yes maybe but I don’t think anytime soon cause everybody was so pissed with their service.

This is the best dim sum place in the New Jersey New York area. My mom and I drive to come here over going to Chinatown for dim sum. Their xia chang, shrimp dish, is my favorite out of every dim sum place I have ever been to around. Worth the little drive out! Definitely recommend.

Definitely our go-to place for Chinese food. We love the dinner menu, and we love the weekend dim sum even better. There are so many dishes to choose from, we came here several times, but we haven’t tried every dish. My favorites are steamed pork rib, fried chive dumplings, Liu sha bun(stuffed with sweet egg yolk), and eggplant stuffed with pork, vege and meat congee, etc. My list can go on and on…

3 starts = A-OK. My expectations were relatively low and we walked out of here pleased. We had a party of five, arriving around 1pm and promptly got a seat for dim sum and the place was still bustling. Most everything here was very good and a good alternative to dim sum in the Chinatowns in either Manhattan or Queens.

I’ve been here a couple of times for their multiple course family style meals. There were probably times that I wasn’t exactly sure what was on the plate, but everything I’ve tried has been tasty. I’ve also been here a couple of times for dim sum and they’re quite good. One thing I can gripe about is that sometimes certain items that I wanted wouldn’t come out or come by until after I’m already quite full. Nevertheless, I still think they’re great and I find their dim sum a little better than Noodle Chu’s across the street. The service is pretty friendly and quick. There’s always a bum rush of customers coming here on the weekends, which is definitely a great sign. This is a great reliable spot to go to in NJ.

NEVER. AGAIN. It was my uncle’s birthday a few weeks ago, and we decided to make a reservation at Qin Dynasty for his celebratory dinner. Our group of 14(including 3 small children) was seated at one of the large round tables at 6pm, our order was placed, and WEDIDNOTSEE A SCRAPOFFOODUNTIL7:30pm. We barely had our water glasses refilled! Imagine sitting in a restaurant for an hour and a half, surrounded by food, without even eating anything. Their excuse was that there were two large buses that arrived right before us, and the kitchen was overwhelmed with their orders. And it’s true; the restaurant was loud and crowded, with large groups at each table. Yet, there were other tables that arrived after us and had ENTIREMEALS(from appetizers to entrees to fortune cookies) during the 90 minutes we sat hungry. There was a steady stream of food coming from the kitchen, but not one of the plates was ever headed toward our table. We were so hungry — and the kids kept asking when our food would arrive! We complained to our waitress several times, and asked for the manager repeatedly, and she could only say, laughing, «I’m mad too! I can’t believe everyone else is getting food. I already talked to the manager. I’m so frustrated too!» before she excused herself to serve her other tables.(And the manager never showed.) Over an hour into our experience, we asked one of the water-refilling waiters what the stack of bowls was doing in the middle of our table — the lone dishes on our giant empty table. «Oh, those bowls are for soup! Did you want the soup now?» «Umm … YES?!» We still didn’t get soup until 7:30. The worst part is that we received little more than a brief, smiling, lame apology from some of the staff for our horrible evening. The food, once it came, was good … but who cares? There is literally no way that you could get me to go back to this restaurant. We were one of the last groups to leave the restaurant(three hours later), and it didn’t seem to concern them that we had been there the entire evening. From now on, I’m going to treat Qin Dynasty the same way they treated us – like they don’t exist.

3.5 stars. QD is not your typical American-Chinese restaurant with General Gao chicken or the red boneless spare ribs(which I LOVE!). They actually may have it on their menu but our host who ordered wouldn’t have ordered anything close. Instead we had a jelly fish salad with Chinese ham, cuttle fish and veg. Also a crab and fish belly soup, braised abalone with shiitake mushrooms, the list goes one. Most of the stuff I had for the very first time. For a food experience, I give it a 4, for execution of those products a 3. The fact they put two cases of Heineken on ice(BYOB), .5, thus my 3.5 stars. This place is unique in that most of the food in the area is very Americanized, sweet and somewhat common. This place really felt like a restaurant in Chinatown USA, sans live turtles, frogs and other critters. The area does have a large Chinese and Indian population so I think you’ll find more authentic cultural dishes here than most parts of NJ where there isn’t a whole lot of immigrant families. Service was excellent, can accommodate a couple to a post wedding party(we were one of them. And no, it wasn’t my wedding). If you like more hardcore type Chinese food, this is the place to be. My real issues came with the execution. The abalone was over cooked. This is such a great product. Why the hell would you want to cook out that great toothsome bite? The«long life noodles» were WAY overcooked, no flavor and tasted like ramen I had in college, but the morning after. The ham in the fried rice was too smoky, I think I prefer the city ham that most restaurants use. The ginger/scallion lobster was water logged from some salty sauce they poured on top. However, the sauces were fantastic, chillies were nice and hot and all the veg(mustard greens, mushrooms, Chinese watercress, etc.) were fresh and well prepared. I’d go back, just for the jelly fish salad!

Came by here awhile ago for lunch on a weekday and I had been meaning to write a review. The dim sum took a long time to come out(over 20 minutes) and when it did it was a bit disappointing. The siu mai were small and dry. Ha gao(shrimp dumplings) were ok not great. Some non dim sum entrees people around me ordered looked and smelled pretty good. There environment was quite nice and clean. They even have fresh ice in the urinals.

Dinner time meant skipping the dimsum and going the entrée route. From start to finish, I was impressed by the welcoming smiley service, tender sizzling beef, fresh seafood and sauteed veggies. As a testament to its success, half the restaurant was booked for a special post-wedding(perhaps?) dinner. Since the place is BYOB, the party wasn’t shy about their bulk cases of Tsingtao beers. A smart choice considering the amount of money other venues try to gouge out of alcohol. Here’s where I’m throwin’ shade at you, Qin Dynasty. Chinese diners love their fresh fish options. Normally when placing the order, you’ll ask the server what live fish they have available. Our server said there were only two left of this particular fish. We said, «sure, steam both of them up ginger-green onion style.» Our server left only to arrive five minutes later apologizing that another table had already ordered the rest of fish. He then suggested that they had some fresh eel. «Alright, we’ll just take the eel» Little did we know close to the end of our meal, the servers served up the same routine to our neighboring tables. Not cool to try to upsell. It’s Qin’s bait-and-switch routine and lack of transparency that completely soured our meal.

Tried out Qin for dim sum at the recommendation of my parents through word-of-mouth in the Chinese community. Not disappointed. It doesn’t compare to what you would find in Queens or Chinatown, but Qin offers a very reasonable and solid selection of dim sum for the price. As with nearly all dim sum places it gets super busy on weekends. Despite this my party of 2 was seated within 15 minutes and carts came rolling as soon as we sat down. My favorite dim sum choices are their congee and chow mein — brings me back to Hong Kong where those two combine to make an authentic Cantonese breakfast. The beef tripe was on the dry side, but their pepper steak was flavorful and moist, albeit a bit chewy. To my sweet tooth’s delight, they had both fried mantous(served with condensed milk) and do fu fa(hot sweet tofu)! Both very good. We ordered a combination of medium-special dishes and it came out to be around $ 18 pp. This is one of the better dim sum places in NJ — not overpriced like the one in Ridgewood and closer to Essex and Morris county than Fort Lee or Edison. This will be a regular stop for me.

Not quite the Jade Isle, but cleaner. After the unfortunate rodent-related incident involving the bastion of Cantonese cooking and tiki drinks, Jade Isle(Scotch Plain, NJ), found Qin Dynasty in Parsippany. No liquor license, so BYOB! Definitely helps any cuisine. Food, I am told, counts as authentically Cantonese, and tasted reasonably good, even to the uninitiated. High points included steamed/salty pork dishes; a notable miss was the Peking Chicken, which was overall flavorless. No mai tais. Yet.

Decent dim sum for a decent price. Nothing too special and slightly larger portions than usual. One of those restaurants that is good for a craving fix but not one you would go to on a regular basis.

Been coming here lately during the week for dinner. They have the 3+1 dinner special for about $ 22. That’s 3 dishes and 1 soup. Unfortunately, that menu is in Chinese and you’ll need a translator. The best so far is the deep fried sole, fried fish with green beans, and they’ve improved on their starchy pork soup. The winter melon and cured ham soup was also good. You’ll have to remind them to bring you rice as it is included in the dinner special. The beef chow fun still needs a little work on the seasoning; it definitely had the«wok» flavor. The chili paste on the tables taste fresher and better than Noodle Chu’s.

Didn’t think it was possible, but Qin Dynasty has some better dim sum than Chinatown. Went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed. If you opt to share a table, you’ll be seated quicker. And they have cart service! Which is a rare find for dim sum in NJ. Most of the dishes were of a quality above my expectations. The only things I didn’t really like were the fried squid and the pork spare ribs with noodles. The squid was mostly flour and the pork was kinda bland. At least I don’t have to head into the city for good dim sum now.
