I actually used to work here in the early 90s before the renovation. Staff here is mostly friendly and will help ya find some random crap your kid just HAS to HAVE. Only gripe is that the store usually is out of the hot, new toys. I guess thats corporates fault, not on a store level.

We had great experience at the Fairlawn store, Annie in the furniture departemnt was extremely helpful. However the vendor used to deliver the furniture is aweful. If you have any furntire being delivered by a company called Urban Express, you are much better off delivering it yourself. Lastly, boycott the Parmatown store entirely, I went to the store to have the furniture price adjusted due to a recent sale. Since, it wasn’t convenient for the store manager to process my request, she was going to have me drive all the way to Fairlawn over a half hour away to get the adjustment. I had to protest and the manager picked up the phone and worked it out. I thanked her for her time and she handed my receipt and rudely walked away. At this point, I’d say GOLOCAL or shop via the other stores that welcome your business. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

After coming here, I told my husband that I no longer needed to take birth control. Toys R’ Us is all the contraception I need. There is so much g’damn crap in this store and enough crazy parents trying to get it that it really makes it seem like having children is the worst decision you could ever make in your life. The entire front of the store is littered with carts full of crap, to the point that it’s difficult to maneuver in and out of the doors. Beyond that, the customer service is horrendous. I walked in to pick up an order I’d bought online and there were four cashiers available YET only one was actually helping customers. Strange, no? Once I actually got to the cashier who was the only one who seemed capable of helping anyone in the store, he sent some guy who was standing around to pick up my order from the warehouse in the back. The guy then proceeded to bring the items out. One. By. One. As in, he walked to the warehouse, pulled one of the items from my order, walked that item all the way back to the front of the store and then proceeded to walk back to the warehouse to finish pulling items from my order. And walked slow as hell, I might add. These weren’t heavy items and the fact that I walked out of the store with them both in hand proves that an average person is capable of carrying both of them at the same time. Why the inefficiency? Would it have killed him to just bring all the items in one trip? My entire experience in this store lasted 40 minutes longer than it probably should have. I know it’s the holiday season and these people are probably over the whole holiday shopping thing but would it kill them to display just a modicum of respect for customer’s time?

Would you like a little peek at what hell might be like? Try walking into a Toys R Us less than a week before Christmas. Mind you, I took the Unilocal Shops Local Pledge this year, so I purchased 95% of my gifts locally – including toys thanks to Big Fun! But there are always a couple of lingering presents that you know you’re going to have to brave a big box store to find. It literally takes everything in me to bare this, but that’s life. Whatever. So, I took the daring drive down Ridge(which is hell enough in itself) to get to the closest Toys R Us to me, Parma Town. Once I got through wanting to rip my own face off from mid-afternoon, holiday traffic, I finally arrived to a crowded parking lot filled with angry parents, stupid drivers and a news crew. Huh? Apparently the toy-rush a week before Christmas merits a good story? Help our news stations… seriously. As I walked inside I grabbed a cart. Mistake número uno. In a crowded toy store brimming with grown ass men and women cutting each other off, pushing, shoving, yelling and tripping on another over toys, you should not bring a cart with you. Just grab the toy you’re looking for and bolt. I ended up abandoning my cart and immediately heard someone crashing in to it and swearing… yikes. This sort of behavior certainly isn’t Toys R Us’ fault, and I know that. In fact, when I could find someone working there who wasn’t getting hassled by an angry parent for being out of stock of something(or just running for their own, dear life), they were very helpful and fast! I just would rather not put myself through this… ever, ever again. The prices are marked up way more than any local toy shop and they really need some help with the website. So not helpful. Other than that, it’s just pure personal preference that I don’t shop here, that’s all. The staff is friendly, swift and helpful. The selection is obviously bountiful and vast, I mean, I almost got lost! So, yeah. I guess we all have to learn by mistake. Lucky for me, it only takes me once. Although, I did find that gift I was looking for and made it out without getting spear-tackled by an angry mom. So, I see it as a semi-win.
