«An object in possession seldom retains the same charm it had in pursuit” — Pliny the Elder, Roman author 23– 70 A.D. I was looking for two items to outfit my Tuscan/mafioso inspired backyard tableau. Classical busts and Roman columns. I «googled» these items and came up with motley mail order websites including Skymall(still the best place to get a solar powered dog bed). Then I recalled that in my travels I had passed Pottery Barn somewhere in deep Parma. My wife corrected me and said Pottery Barn was an upscale store out in Beachwood. What I was thinking of was OTP. Their site said they had columns. We hit the pockmarked Etruscan trails of the west side. Passing through Seven Hills(those of you who paid attention in history class will get the reference). Upon entering this airplane hangar bazaar of slave labor home props, my third shift eyeballs nearly exploded into clouds of vitreous humour. SO F-ING HUGE. It was like a flea market f*cked a Wal Mart. Amazing, amazing home and lawn décor, crafts and knick knacks of every size and style. Alas, the columns they were selling were cheapy plaster deals that would not withstand an Ohio snowstorm, let alone rainstorm, for two seconds. I had to pass on them. But overall, the shopping experience was exhilirating. I know I’ll get something here next time. Prices are unbeatable, quality is middling and shopping orgasm is unavoidable. More fun than Pottery Barn for sure.

I can honestly say I really like this place. I can find some great things for the house here at some awesome prices. I have bought a beautiful set of plates(well 2 sets), glasses, bed sets. I even this Christmas got a great deal on napkins and placemats as well as a few candles already on sale. They also have some great windchimes there.

This place is amazing… so much crap and low prices! It’s like a Bed Bath and Beyond warehouse except everything is way cheaper! They have everything from bathroom accessories, rugs, cookware, utensils, and dishes, to home décor. I’m sure glad there isn’t one closer to my house, or I’d be spending a whole lot of money there. lol

I love going here! It’s just a different place to shop beyond the Bed Bath & Beyond type stores and everything in BB&B is at least $ 20 even for a single kitchen utensil! Anywho, I love the glassware and kitchen section. There’s nothing wrong there! So much to choose from and you frankly, I don’t know what store the other commentors have visited by the one in Parma Heights, Ohio is great. It’s clean. And I have no idea what they’re talking about when they say«chipped and broken» product. Why would anyone buy that? I agree I wouldn’t buy the bedding products — not high enough quality for me.

Love to stop in here from time to time & see what new, random«crap» they have that I just can’t wait to spend my money on. I especially love looking at dishes, glasses, and Halloween crap. Can’t go wrong w/a stop in here. Be prepared to buy that thing that you might not«need» but just can’t go home without…

. yech. .. Close Encounters of the DIRT Kind Let me begin by stating that all 4 employees I ran into while walking up and down the aisles of well-swept concrete flooring, were smiling, made direct eye contact, and appeared friendly. An easy 5 stars. However. .. nearly everything my eyes landed on or the few things I touched in this massive warehouse-type environment is what I’d expect to find if — heaven forbid — I was forced to pick through curbside trash to survive. And I’d never have even the remotest chance of ever coming upon a long-lost Van Gogh or Rembrandt sketch here, either. For all those who must do this out of necessity, may God bless them and make their lives easier. It was an oddly depressing experience. It likely isn’t close, but brought to mind the garbage rummaging that’s a needful way of life for so many of those less fortunate in the slums of Rio and Calcutta. Tetanus shots should be a consideration before entering this gigantic, dusty rusty junk drawer. This is just plain trash.(Maybe I came on an off-OFF-day.) Most things looked totally worthless and worn, and whatever was usable — like some glassware and cookware I looked over — were way overpriced — with only a handful of exceptions cost-wise. One could easily find similar and much better quality — and lower prices — at Bed, Bath and Beyond, TJ Maxx, or other major department stores during one of their frequently-featured home sales. And, in comparison to this warehouse, I’d liken Marc’s closeout sections to exclusive designer boutiques. The only things that I didn’t venture looking through were furniture, bedding, pillows, rugs, books, posters/prints, and photo frames. Maybe these sections have good prices. Won’t ever know, though, since I’ll never return. I do have my scrounging limitations, but I’m not averse to looking for a bargain by sorting through various odds and ends to find it. I’ve done my share of swap meets, flea markets, antique shops, estate and garage sales, and second-hand stores, but frankly, I’m stunned at the amount of cheaply-made, shop-worn, and damaged merchandise. After years of receiving colorful Old Time fliers that I sometimes scanned and then always threw out, I decided to visit in the hopes I’d find some artificial flowers and greenery for a couple of projects.(Catans, Joannes, Gales, and Plant Crafters all stock acceptable to exceptional realistic plants but didn’t have what I was looking for in their current inventory.) The fake flowers here were ridiculously high-priced for the gaudy unrealistic colors, material, and workmanship. If Catans carried any of this stuff(never saw anything this bad there, myself), it would be a third or a fourth of the price. What niche this fills, I haven’t a clue. What am I missing? Is this a «front» for some other business that I don’t know about? Was I somehow hypnotized in the parking lot and instead of walking into a big space loaded with desirable bargains, I was actually abducted, then carried on board an alien space craft that took me to a strange flotsam-riddled structure on some far out planet? I just don’t see any value here whatsoever — just a possible bacterial infection or bug or rodent bite — and tons of surprisingly way overpriced ready-for-the-weekly-trash-pick-up JUNK.

My friend’s girlfriend told me to check out this place for some pottery and plates. It is a nice store to stroll around in and look at stuff. They have decent rugs at good prices. The furniture section didn’t offer great deals. There were some nice accent pillows for around $ 8. There is such a wide variety of styles and colors, it is easy to find things that will fit your particular theme. The quality is not the highest and that is exactly what I am looking for at this juncture in life.

I’ve been going to Old Time Pottery for about 13 years now and everytime I still spend 30 minutes to an hour looking around. I. Love. This. Place. Some of the stuff is cheesy, some of it damaged, most of it poor quality, but if you are creative, aren’t too much of a snob and enjoy exploring(everything is very well organized) you will also think OTP is a gem. On my most recent visit, my fiancé and I found ourselves obsessed with vases — we bought 6– flowers, wall art and a scarecrow!

This place honestly has a little bit of everything. Anything from cookware to random decorations. Some of the stuff is cheaply made but for the prices what do you exspect. I suggest just going and taking a walk around it will be well worth it

Old Time Pottery is a great place to find some great deals. Be prepared to stay for at least 20 – 30 minutes, there is SO much to look at. If you’re really picky on quality, it might not be the place for you — some of their stuff is chipped or slightly damaged — but you can still find plenty of stuff in perfect shape, too. It’s a great place to go to if you need some basics for your apartment or house. I got a fantastic 4.5-foot Christmas Tree there in December that was WAY cheaper than anything I saw at Target or Walmart.

Old Time Pottery is a closeout store with a warehouse style of display. There are rows and rows of house wares, ranging from soft goods like blankets, comforters, quilts and sheet sets, to dishes and flatware. There are candelabras, wall hangings, huge mirrors, tiny mirrors, fancy hooks for the wall, and picture frames. If you just bought a home or are renting an apartment for the first time, make Old Time Pottery your first stop; the prices are cheap and the options plenty. Even if some of the items are not up to your quality standards(you just have to have Egyptian cotton) there are plenty of decorating items(candelabras) that would be difficult to find fault with. Currently, it seems like a lot of the items come from Wal-Mart’s Home section and Bed Bath and Beyond. I am sure that changes periodically though.
