Really good food at reasonable prices. If you love prime rib, this is definitely a place to try but then again, all the beef choices are delicious. Large portions and good variety. Steaks, chicken, pasta, seafood, sandwiches, burger, etc. Never had a bad meal. Mashed potatoes, home fries and huge sweet potatoes are yummy sides. They used to serve breakfast and it was some of the best around town. Yes, they serve sticky buns which everyone seems to love but me; just not a fan, too sweet. Staff are friendly and efficient.

When we’re in the area, we’ll drive out of our way to go to this restaurant. Huge portions — as in I haven’t yet been able to finish a meal, and come home with enough for a second meal in my doggie bag. This place has been around a long time, and I think they cater to hungry farmers who expect ample nourishment. This is no bells or whistles, rural, privately owned(non chain restaurant) dining. I love eating at these types of places. If you come on the right day, there may be an Amish lady selling fresh sweet corn or pies in the gravel parking lot. There is not a tv in the dining room blaring news and sports updates. The waitresses aren’t going to stand next to your table for 20 minutes explaining the daily specials and trying to chat you up for a better tip at the end. It’s a pleasant, quiet, clean, authentic dining experience. Last night my husband got the fish sandwich, which was big enough to be 2 fish sandwiches. After salad and a basket of dinner rolls and sweet sticky buns, his main plate was piled with hot french fries, a large piece of breaded fish, the bun, lettuce and tomato, and a pickle spear. I got the stuffed cabbage — holy crap was it good. They are made on site, and I can’t remember ever having better elsewhere. The service was polite and fast — just the way I prefer it. The windows face the main thoroughfare of a very small town, and during the day you can watch tractors, farmer’s trucks, and Amish buggies passing by. Living in a bigger city, I find it interesting to see, and it adds to the charm of this restaurant.

I suspect J.D. stands for«Just Drive-by». Nothing special here. Food was OK and at a good price point. The service leaves a lot to be desired. We were seated for about 10 minutes before our waitress took our order. My wife ordered a side of coleslaw only to be told, «We are out of coleslaw. We run out of a lot of things by this time on Sunday.» Really? Have you ever heard of managing your inventory? Because this is a rather rural location, the locals are probably what keeps this place alive due to a lack of options in the area.

Stopped here after driving for a couple of hours. Figured we would give it a try. Ordered pork chops with homemade stuffing. Debbie our waitress brought sticky buns… so yummy before our meals. I would definitely stop here again!!!

Been here a few times giving it another chance, and just think I could make a better meal at home… And I don’t cook. Sub par prime rib, salads Were kinda pathetic, the atmosphere is that«a little run down look». Got two stars cause it’s affordable

We stopped here on our way to cut down a Christmas Tree for a late lunch. The décor was a bit outdated so we were a little leery when we first walked in but there was a good smell coming from the kitchen(probably the Prime Rib). My husband hates trying new places and I usually stick with basics when trying someplace new. They say their Prime Rib is «world famous» but I don’t like to be disappointed so didn’t try it. My husband liked the food the best and if we go back I would give the Prime Rib a try. Between three of us we had a chicken sandwich, a couple burgers, house salad, cup of potato leek soup, onions rings and french fries. My only real complaint is that with the burgers any type of side is extra and to make it a «platter» you get two sides of either french fries, home fries, cottage cheese, apple sauce and I think mashed potatoes. Kind of odd choices after the potato items. Everything was tasty and hot. We would definitely go back if we were in the area.

In the middle of nowhere, stone gravel parking lot, unpretentious with furniture from the 40’s. when you drive into the parking lot you wonder what is this place? What a surprise! some of the finest food I’ve eaten in northern Ohio. Prime rib to die for. Steak specials that are juicy and flavorful and fall of the plate. Menu that has everything but the kitchen sink. Every selection off the menu is delicious. Huge portions, but leave space for desserts — home made pies that are out of this world. Friendly and speedy service and prices that are«ultra» reasonable. Have been there many times and have yet to have a meal that wasn’t the best. Worth the trip no matter the distance!

Surprise surprise in the middle of nowhere! A nice clean place. The food was excellent and the service was as good as it could have been. We ordered fish and chicken and it was excellent(coming from a foodie that is picky!) Tawnya was our waitress and she was the most happy go lucky cheerful person for a hungry group. I recommend this place if you’re in this area.

Nice place with good food! A little off the beaten track in a tiny town, but worth the stop now and then. Neat and clean and extremely friendly service. Average wait for food, but worth it. Can’t complain!

The JD’s Post House vs. Dutch Country Prime-Rib contest has been settled and the results are in!(Read my previous review to make heads/tails of my babble.) So, 3rd time was the charm and we finally got a piece of their prime rib. I’ve got to say this has got to be the most tender, almost fall-apart-with-just-your-fork tender, prime rib I’ve ever had in all my decades of prime-ribbing. HOWEVER, for flavor and overall happiness, my personal vote for Best Prime Rib in Geauga County(if not Northeast Ohio) is: Dutch Country Restaurant in Middlefield! Never fear — JD’s might be a second place finish to Dutch Country but they far outweigh ANY other prime rib in the area, hands down! So no matter which you visit, you’ll be in prime rib heaven!
