Paramus Public Library

The librarians are so loud– they spend all their time standing behind the counter talking about their personal business loud enough that we can hear it in the quiet section. The director is also loud and seems to enjoy making as much noise as possible. Is this a library or a playground??? The rude librarians and loud custodial staff– vacuuming in the middle of the afternoon in a library, banging doors and yelling across the rooms. This is ridiculous.

This is babysitter place, it is not the library. As soon as summer starts, this place is full of little kids with one grown up kid watching them.

I consider this library to be my second home.
They have an amazing collection — books, movies (American, Indian, Chinese, etc), CDs, audiobooks, etc.
If they don’t have what you’re looking for, it’s almost guaranteed one of the other libraries in the Bergen County Cooperative Library System will. You just have to place a request and your item is ready to be picked up at your home library in a matter of days.
Only thing I wish they would ramp up is their e-​book collection. Also, the library is getting small for the growing town and it gets difficult to find a quiet study spot on the weekends.

This library is worth putting on your ‘stop here for books GPS when you are nearby’ list. It is part of the Bergen County Library System which allows towns (who fund the shared services) to loan books and other media to any registered library user in the county. The libraries of Bergen County are one of the few places you can see where your money goes and still want to pay the very high taxes we have here in northern New Jersey.
This library has smaller set of ‘holdings’ but they have one of the largest selections of new books. They also have a very large section of materials in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and South Asian languages. Every time I stop by I find something to check out.
It is on your way back from the malls of BC so very nice place to find peace after the chaos of Route 17 and the stores.
