Disclaimer: this is a customer service review. I can’t review any actual hair services provided, as I was not able to get any service at the time I went there. I was trying to get a simple hair cut. Their website advertises very clearly that their hours of operation for the walk-ins only hair, nail and skin clinic are 10:00am to 2:00pm. I arrived at 10:00am sharp on a Tuesday, ready for a haircut. I was the only guest there. I was told to fill out a form which I did then have a seat, which I did. At 10:16am, after seeing girls shuffle in and out but mostly, out, on their way to get coffee, I stand up and go to the window, where 2 of the original 3 staffers had disappeared, so only one woman saw me. She asked if she could help me I said, yes I’m wondering why there is a wait. She said, because the students are on break until 10:30am(the students provide the services in the clinic). I said okay but why do you advertise your hours of service are 10:00am to 2:00pm? She said because we do open at 10:00am but the students are in class until 10:00 then they take a break, they can help you at 10:30. At this point, I just stare at her, I have nothing to say. That makes no sense at all. I was also given no advance notice of this policy, no heads up, nothing, not a word. I had to ask them why I was waiting when I was the only person there. Idiotic policy, unacceptable, they have no interest in being decently courteous to a customer. I will never go back and am ashamed I attempted to go there for a service. I didn’t have time to wait 14 minutes until 10:30am, if, IF, any of the girls were even sauntering back in at that time. Why don’t you just tell customers they won’t be helped until 10:30am the earliest? It’s not that hard.

I’ve been going to Capri for years and don’t want to let the secret out of the bag but here it is. This is an inexpensive way to get services done. This is a school and the work is done by students with a supervisor present. They can be very slow so be prepared for this to take some time. But for the price(especially coloring, blowout), you can’t beat it. I stopped using them for my haircuts because it was too inconsistent. You do have to go 24 hours for a patch test before having color done but then they keep your card on file for future reference. Generally cash only and you can tip the girls a few bucks if you want(I always do).

I finally got up the courage to check out the hair clinic at Capri, which advertises very cheap prices! It runs from 10 – 2 on weekdays, when i showed up around 11 i only waited about 20 mins to get someone to cut my hair. The shampoo felt more like a home shampoo than a nice salon head massage, and the blow-dry was awkward and almost a bit painful. The cut however is great! Meriting my hair is long and straight so you can’t mess it up too badly, but I think the cut looks and works just as well as any salon cut and for 9 $ it was a bargain! One thing that struck me as strange was that there was no supervision over the students, no one even took a final look after my hair was cut to make sure it wasn’t a mess.
