Typical of my experience with this office: I scheduled an appointment for a cleaning. The day I arrive I’m told I am scheduled for a cleaning and a dental exam with Dr. Vila. I insist I just want the cleaning and am told that’s not a problem. They do good work here, so I assume it’s just a misunderstanding. After the cleaning is done, the assistant says she’s going to use a new high-tech machine they have that detects cavities more accurately than x-rays. I say fine as long as it doesn’t cost me anything. She uses it and finds no cavities. Then Dr. Vila appears, says he wants to take a look. Doesn’t believe the new high-tech machine, pokes my teeth a few times briefly, declares I have two cavities and need to make an appointment to get them taken care of. The front desk is incredulous that I don’t want to make those appointments. They hand me the bill for the cleaning, on which has been tacked on $ 75 for a dental exam by Dr. Vila. Here we go again. On my way out to the parking lot, I walk past his $ 125,00012-cylinder Audi A8 and it all sort of makes sense.
