Favorite open air biker bar in Panama City. Expect to hear country to rap as you enjoy the company of some of the friendliest ‘tenders and patrons this side of Alabama. The«tour bus» of tourists rolls in around 9pm and never leaves. Don’t leave till 4am.

Fun place even on a weeknight. They have a few areas to enjoy. We went on a Tuesday and they had live acoustic on the outside deck, darts at the inside bar and lively karaōke in the open air bar. Mix of ages and types. Get your name in early if you want to karaōke though. Easy drive from beach hotels and decent parking.

Good hang out, eclectic bar crowd, Alexa bartender is great! Live music Fridays and Saturdays. Drink pours are generous, well worth the time for a quick couple of drinks on the weekend.

We visited this place in the off season, so the outside bar wasn’t open yet and it wasn’t bumping. The inside was a good size, and they had darts and foosball. The outside bar looked like a fun spot during warm weather… very large and lots of open garage doors to the outside. We had the«famous» Hunch Punch… it was pretty good, very strong, and a bit pricey. Didn’t like the inside bar as much because they allow smoking. Also noted that the outside bar was cash only.

We stopped here for the shear purpose that we’d never been to a drive thru liquor store. After reading the reviews on Unilocal,we ordered the Hunch Punch, specifically a half gallon. Between myself and two other people, it was the perfect amount. We didn’t know what to expect from it; it was a half gallon fruit punch(sweet, a little tart at the end in a good way), pint of everclear, white rum, and vodka you add yourself. We didn’t realize the bottle top for the punch wasn’t closed all the way in the bag, some spilled and got a bit sticky. We ended up mixing a pint in of our own vodka rather than what was provided, personal preference. It was tasty after all mixed together. I personally drank it over ice with a bit of white soda mixed in to account for being a lightweight. When the reviews talk about smoking, they mean it — even the ½ gallon jug smelled like smoked cigarettes. It did not effect the taste, but we mixed everything in a separate pitcher. Good to try at least once!

Having left the ice age for the new year and set sail to PCB, I found some pretty sweet places. This happened to be one of them. I ended up here because we wanted to hit a liquor store, but I had no idea what we had actually uncovered. So… As an Indiana native, I’m not used to a few things at a liquor store: –smoking indoors –an actual bar –dart boards I love it! It’s hard to describe the enjoyment I had here; we met some awesome locals and travelers, the staff was fun/friendly/attentive. It was great to have a drink(or more), get some carry out, and even the mix selection was great. I laughed because across the way I thought I saw a thing of mayonnaise with the mixers. I’m an idiot. It was coconut. Touché. If I were a Panama City native(cue Van Halen) I would live here.

What more can you say than it a freakin party store(with coolers and stacked cases of beer) and there’s a BARINSIDE !!! I love this place. But easy does it on Newby’s special Hunch Punch, it’s delicious and it will kick your ass.

Before heading off to ride the Slingshot, the group decided to stop by and get a round in. L decided to get everyone hunch bunch, and I wish I could tell you what was in it but I can’t. It has a strong fruit punch flavor that when mixed with liquor tends to taste like medicine. I wasn’t too fond of it but some of the others enjoyed it. The bartender however told us «goodluck» when he gave us the drinks. I’ve come to realize I have a higher tolerance than most so I was fine, but. D got pretty drunk off of it, and so did L after having two. Granted, we all did chug it so that we could continue on with our night. If you’re looking for a good time, I’d recommend the hunch bunch unless you’re a cheap date. Then… Stick to the standard fruity drinks. Lol.

This is your one stop alcoholic shop. Our condo was right beside it so we had easy access. We definitely used it for all three of its draws. It has a drive through pick up window. They have a sign for a minimum, but we ordered a six pack and the server didn’t care. So very convenient. On another night we actually went into the bar to have a drink. This was fun and very interesting. Panama City is a different world. It was also thunder beach bike week. This only made it more fun, the nicest group of bikers I’ve ever met. No fighting, just happy drinkers showing off their amazing motorcycles. This was also our first stop into town before we even went to the condo coming from the airport. Prices were right, staff was friendly and personable. I’d go back if I need liquor in pcb.

People come to Ms Newby’s to get wasted. The drinks are just ridiculous. They have a drink called hunch punch. Years ago, I made a huge mistake and drank two drinks of hunch punch. Lets just say, I couldn’t even pronounce my name after the second one. I had to take a cab home, and the cab driver had to carry me out the cab. Hunch punch should be illegal it is so strong.

…because no trip to Pan City Beach would be complete without it. We popped our heads in at 11.00 am off season, weekday, smoke and stench were overpowering so we hopped in the car and did a drive through. Got a Hunch Punch to go, $ 7.85 in a special cup,(small), it is a violent red drink that comes with a mini of rum and a mini of vodka in a brown paper bag. The men in charge at the window were super nice and friendly. If you must drink strong colorful drinks then go here. There is a patio for al fresco, we opted to take ours to the beach, tsk tsk.

Ms. Newby’s Liquors is a liquor store with a bar in the center. This place also has a drive through and a very large seating area outside. If you know what kind of liquor that you want or just want to try some of the hunch punch then you may want to go through the drive-through. The very small amount of time that we spent in the store itself caused our clothes to reek of smoke. Think of the worst smoke filled place that you’ve ever been to and multiply it by ten. It was horrible, but her hunch punch made up for it. I highly recommend anyone that is of drinking age to swing by here and try her«world famous» hunch punch. You may not want to add all of the vodka though if you get the smallest cup. Basically you get 100ml of vodka and 50ml of white rum to mix into it; its a lot of alcohol for such a small drink.

Drinks are SCRONG, yes SCRONG! And, cheap! Service is on point, security ain’t playing neerin games, and the crowd is perfect for people watching. If you haven’t been here yet, I need to know what’s stopping you?!

This place is pretty small and gets crowded and hot easily. Definitely not my favorite place, then again, I’m not a huge fan of tiny bars!

The events I am about to describe transpired at Ms Newby’s in Panama City Beach very recently. I swear to their validity, and I apologize for any perceived condescending tone: 11:00PM: My girlfriend and I walked into Ms Newby’s for the first time. It was Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day. Most of the tourists had already hightailed it back to Atlanta or Missouri or wherever. I may have still been too sickly for the strong, sugary alcohol, but I stomached it anyways. I’d heard the place was redneck, but walking through the front door was like entering a new dimension of beach vacations – one that was thankfully shielded from us the previous days. The first gentleman we met was nice enough, actually from my hometown of Douglasville, Georgia. But our conversation took an unexpected turn as he explained that his son was in prison for vehicular manslaughter. He’d killed someone while driving drunk. Reliving this incident sent the guy into a spiraling depression, and he desperately begged us to never drive drunk. He urged us repeatedly to take a taxi home. Even after one drink, he said, we were still in danger of killing someone. We tried to console him, said we’d never think of driving drunk. But he just kept begging us to listen to him, kept repeating himself, even after we tried to change the subject. Five minutes later, we finally had to excuse ourselves. He just kept at it, almost weeping. It was too much. Back at the bar, we met a truckdriver who was«just passing through». He had just gotten there and also insisted it was his first time at Ms Newby’s, even though his arms were already generously groping the aging, suntanned body of one of the local flavors. «You’re young,» she told me, a perma-grim plastered on her oily face. «Are you from around here?» I asked her. «That’s why I’m so dysfunctional,» she said and smiled. She had taken notice of our young faces and like many, had latched on – repeatedly shoving her drink into my girlfriend’s face, insisting she try it. After a few gentle denials, the woman then turned to me and asked if I wanted to sit on her lap. Soon thereafter, we were on the opposite side of the bar, trying again to wedge our ways in to get a drink. An old drunk man noticed our plight and made some room for at least my commanding elbow and credit-card-waving hand. The man introduced himself. I forget his name. He tried to introduce me to his friends, but they were too drunk to realize it. The drunk man attempted a few time to shake my hand or to give me a high five. I couldnt tell which, but either way he was very disappointed with the result. Suddenly, the man huffed and puffed and slid his drink and cigarette pack a few inches away from me. He mumbled something about just being old, fat, and ugly. Then, I got the cold, drunk shoulder. After ordering the drinks, receiving them, and paying, the old man finally turned back to me. «I didn’t mean to scare you,» he said. After explaining that it was all good, no harm, no foul, he again attempted the awkward handshake-highfive combo move, with his limp, cold fingers curving towards my palm. Again, he was disappointed with the result. We made our retreat with our frozen drinks to the outside area, finding some secluded Red Bull Hightop Tables. The last people we met before leaving for the hotel were our unlikely saviors. Dr. Dave is a funny looking fellow, long red hair, thick flowing beard. Said he’d lived all over but had settled in North Alabama. Dr. Dave is one of those good olé boy Southern hippies. Had a great sense of humor and exuded positive energy, which was a relief from the depressed alcoholics at the inside bar. Also, Dr. Dave was a chiropractor. After a brief conversation about life and his children, Dr. Dave invited his wife, and big-breasted friend to join us. Together they told us about their children, dogs, and other pets – all who were named after Grateful Dead songs. The only pet not named after a Grateful Dead song, coincidentally, was the murderous cat that had eaten all of the hamsters. They buzzed around us for a while. Mostly, we just let it happen. Our heads were still spinning from the combination of the night’s events. After exchanging phone numbers, Dr. Dave and his crew eventually wandered off to greener pastures. We were finally left to reflect and to appreciate our time at Ms Newby’s. We expected a cultural experience, but this was something else entirely. We decided finally that we weren’t ignorant. No, we were simply a combination of young, patient, and extremely approachable. We recapped the evening, but tried to remain respectful. After all, who is to judge another’s culture? Just before we left, a drunk chick ran across the parking lot, yelling and stripping her shirt off.

Visiting PCB for the first time is already in and of itself a true experience. I don’t believe that any one place shows that better than Ms Newby’s. It’s a bar within a liquor store that feels like a truck stop with an outdoor bar that feels like a biker bar with live music that feels like you’re on the beach. My friend who lives in PCB informed us that the two drinks that Ms Newby’s is known for are the School Bus and the Hunch Punch. We decided to get one of each which is obviously a sign that you need to be carded even though we are well over 21 and both of us thought we were older than the bartender. These two drinks are premixed one coming from a bright orange jug and the other coming from a bright red jug. The School Bus is a blended drink and probably the coolest part was that when added to ice it went from the deep orange color to the more recognizable yellow school bus color. Both drinks are as you would expect fairly sweet but do pack quite an alcoholic punch. They have all the other standard drinks that you would expect at a bar and prices are fairly reasonable(for someone coming from NYC bar life this might be a bit of a skewed perspective). While the clientele is quite diverse you don’t feel unwelcome here although if you have any Harley Davidson wear you might have an easier time blending and not looking like a total tourist.

I don’t know who Ms Newby is but I certainly like her style! Part bar, part club, and part liquor store… I’m not sure there’s anything else like it. There is an open air bar that kinda reminds me of a warehouse. When the weather is nice this is the side of Newby’s I enjoy. Count on live music and plenty of room for dancing. If it’s raining or chilly I make my way to the interior bar which is right in the center of the the liquor store. The walls are lined with shelves loaded up with bottles. It makes for interesting décor to say the least. Both bars have friendly bartenders and a great selection of liquor.
