Also, in the small park right next to the beautiful fountain, there is an art show on the weekends of June 20, July 18, August 15, and September 19. Local artists, some of them with excellent reputations and beautiful work, have original artwork for sale. A painting that might cost $ 1,500 in a gallery in Laguna Beach can be purchased during the lawn sale for $ 800. A great deal, nice art, and worth checking out!

I’m glad it’s still here after all these years. No war has ever touched or marred the beautiful marble detailing, no gang has ever tagged it(as far as I know), no religion has destroyed it as an «abomination» and no juvenile, druggie or drunk has ever driven into it with their Hummer. It’s as beautiful as ever. But man, I remember as teenager driving by and seeing this same fountain flowing with electric green rescue dye and laughing our asses off.

This fountain is simply beautiful! I love the historic nitbits of art and culture Palos Verdes applies all over the city! It’s such a beautiful and nice touch! Even though the fountain here isn’t an original, it still gives a very majestic appeal in the plaza. Definitely worth some snapchats or selfies here!

A jewel of elegance in the great cultural wasteland that is modern-day southern california. A remnant of a society with high aspirations, and the will power to better itself. Refreshing. Beautiful. Restorative.

This has been an icon for as far back as I can remember, at least 50 years. A true landmark !

This stately white marble fountain drips with elegance. And so do its surroundings: historic Malaga Cove plaza, built in 1925. The Spanish Renaissance architecture, with stone walkways & arches galore, is set among huge old pine trees a couple blocks uphill from the ocean. I’m in the plaza’s quaint cafes all the time because I live nearby. Neptune Fountain has a history of its own: it’s a replica of a 16th century fountain in Bologna, Italy and was donated to the city of Palos Verdes Estates in 1930. The fountain has been re-constructed in past decades after the original one literally fell apart… so locals have told me. At any rate, now it’s pristine. I don’t even clutter it up by tossing in pennies. Actually, I don’t feel much need to wish for anything more than the opportunity to recapture serenity by savoring the moment whenever I’m in Malaga Cove. Just around the corner, uphill, is the beautiful old Malaga Cove Library, with its own fountains and ocean-view adjacent green space. You’ll see free-roaming peacocks here — they run wild all over this area. Neptune Fountain is located on Palos Verdes Drive West near where it intersects with PV Drive North. Parking in the plaza is free, but with strictly-enforced one & two-hour time limits. The grand fountain seems to welcome you to the peaceful paradise that is Malaga Cove.

Great fountain in the middle of Malaga Cove Plaza. Dedicated in 1930, the fountain is a copy of Giambologna’s 16th century original from Bologna, Italy.
