I’ve always been a barbershop(not salon) kind of guy, but I discovered Nancy when I couldn’t get into my former barber for 2 haircuts in a row due to travel considerations(my barber’s and mine). Nancy does a terrific men’s haircut. In my case, it’s a preliminary cut with an electric trimmer, then shampoo/rinse, followed by a very detailed finish with all kinds of scissors and hand tools. Nancy is a stylist and takes her time to do a good job. So compared to most barbers, you will spend more time«in the chair» with Nancy. But unlike many barbershops, Nancy takes appointments, so there’s no line. That means you spend the time you would otherwise have been«in queue» getting more attention to your hair. The result is a careful and meticulous haircut. Some other differences to barbershops. This is a salon. It’s bright and airy. Customers are both women and men. Lots of barbers are like your local bartender — active conversationalists and full of chitchat. Nancy is not like that. She is seriously focused on doing the haircut. I’m a perfectionist, and have become a regular here. The work is great. The shop is clean, bright & airy. The price is reasonable. Parking is easy(a nice lot in back; some spaces in front along El Camino). The shop is in Palo Alto between Page Mill and Arastradero. Very convenient to Los Altos, Stanford, and the Page Mill corridor of Palo Alto.

Jaime did an amazing job on correcting a bad pompadour hair cut several weeks prior — she was very careful and you could tell she cared about the hair, almost more than me! The scalp/shoulder massage was also amazing — will definitely be back if I’m in town and needing a hair cut.

I’ve been coming here for haircuts since the beginning of this year. Seriously — this is the best place to get your haircut in Palo Alto. Great prices, absolutely incredible service, and excellent technique. If you ask for Nancy, you’ll get a great first experience, but anybody here is terrific anyhow.

This place is, simply put, high quality. The hair dressers are meticulous, and the head massage while they wash your hair is nice :) I high recommend this place! They even have their own parking spot which is super clutch.

I really enjoy the manicure and pedicures at Nancy Bee salon. They take their time, give you a great massage(lotion and hot stones) and are very detailed. They have a great selection of polish and the salon is exceptionally clean, modern and enjoyable. They also have gel manicures that lasts for weeks! I have never felt rushed, only a valued customer at Nancy Bee Salon. I have recommend their nail services to all of my co-workers. They are also easy to get to right off of El Camino near Palo Alto.

I asked for Nancy today. She did a great job! At first, I thought that I wouldn’t get a lot of layers even though I asked for it because she started to blow dry my hair, but then she spent another 20 minutes(it felt like a long time, which is good) to continue layering my hair. I really like my hair cut. Admittedly, I got there a little bit late, about 7 minutes. But it all worked out. I think the pricing is pretty good and the hair cut looks really good, too.

Elaine did an amazing job with my hair! I wanted to cut my hair but not to short, and she did a wonderful job refreshing my look and introducing nice curles. I am definitely coming here next time!

I have been seeing Nancy for several years now. As I have mentioned in my previous reviews, Nancy does a fantastic job. She is a perfectionist with my hair and I always get a lot of compliments whenever she cuts it. One thing that I failed to mention in my previous review are two important aspects that add value to the haircut. The haircut includes a portion where she washes your hair, which is my favorite part of the haircut. When she does this, she massages your scalp and also gives you a brief massage. She does an amazing job and I always leave the salon feeling super relaxed. Nancy works hard and really cares about her customers; even though I had not seen her for six months(I live in SoCal) she greeted me by name when I came in recently. I highly recommend this salon. I have also gotten haircuts from the other women who work in her salon and was very happy with them. By the way, the salon is rated two dollar signs. $$. For a guy’s haircut including washing of hair, scalp massage and neck massage I would rate it $.

Quality and skills vary greatly by person. English skills are very poor, so expect frequent miscommunication(especially by phone) unless you triple confirm everything. In past years, I would have rated higher, but too many recent problems.

Peaceful and beautiful atmosphere, nice smell, reasonable price. The only thing is, lady(with short hair) who did my gel manicure seems so tired, bored and rush. She kept knocking on the table while we are waiting for the gel gets ready. A bit rude. At first determined to come back, now probably won’t again.

I had a great hair cut experience at Nancy Bee. I called for a same day appointment and got in a few hours later. The price was great for the experience. My shampoo was so relaxing. I asked for something pretty specific and got exactly what I asked for. I happen to be one of those people that doesn’t want to make small talk during a hair cut, so I appreciated how my stylist concentrated on the cut and didn’t chatter away. In the end I got a great cut, at a great price, and enjoyed every moment of it.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have had full color, root touch up, cut, style and mani/pedi and allate fabulous! Very affordable, usually no wait, quality spa-like experience. I have paid 3x more at *high-end* salons and never received anything close to the amazing results I’ve consistently received here. If you want to be completely wow’d go here for the queen treatment. If you prefer spending 2 months pay in an über trendy, techno music blaring, ikea furniture having *high~end* salon where you are belittled at the front desk and herded from station-to-station and completely disappointed at the end… be my guest.

AMAZING massage. This was better than 2x places(Massage Therapy Center) and better than 3x places(Equinox). Definitely go and get a 60 min massage! Your back and wallet will thank you.

I have very fine, limp hair which needs to be short. Most hair stylists under $ 100/cut cut it like a man’s no matter what I tell them. Nancy has an excellent eye for the fashion of the cut. We both agreed to let it be «long» on top and taper to clean cut around the ears. This simple cut is very hard for others who may leave it shaggy on the top or the bottom because they lack the boldness of hair design. Nancy has the confidence and imagination to cut the length it needs to be for a sharp, modern look. The other stylists in the salon work on my husband’s hair simultaneously when I go in and we both come out looking good. This place is a real find!

Well the staff work very hard to accommodate their clients,(tea, scalp massage) it has become evident on my second visit that they are O.K. For a certain type of haircut, and definitely not color. i would say they could do a men’s haircut great, or a simple trim. I’m sure their massages and mani/pedi are great. I was there for 4 hours on a «trim» and highlights on my chin length hair. It came out uneven, and there were bright chunks on one side, thin chunks on the other. The toner she used left my hair brassy. The haircut was uneven, and not well suited to my curly hair. It didn’t look natural at all, or was not even close to what I asked for. She changed the side my hair was parted on, and made just the bangs blonde. She used electronic shaver to even out the ends of my hair, and seemed to cut one hair at a time. I went to a salon the next day to have it all fixed, and the woman couldn’t believe the cut/color I received.

I have been going to Nancy for about 6 months now and the service has been absolutely stellar every single time. I go about every 4 – 5 weeks for a cut, color, and gel nails. She is very knowledgeable about hair coloring and her cuts are meticulous! She pays very close attention to every detail. My manicures have always been perfect as well. I also think their prices are very reasonable for the great service and compared to what else is offered in the area. Great place! Highly recommend!

I’m writing this review on the massages I’ve gotten at Nancy Bee. I’m rating them full stars, all things considered: attentiveness, quality of service and price! Both Tammy and Tina are very talented masseuses. Whereas I’ve only had three massages by Tina, I’ve lost count of how many I’ve had by Tammy. So most of my review will go for TAMMY. But Tina is also very good. Here is a not so brief story and highlights of my experiences. When it comes to massage, frequency matters. The first time you get a massage, if you are lucky, it will be excellent. But chances are it will be OK or good. The reason: your masseuse does not know your body. Even the best masseuse could do poorly the first time you get in his/her table. Both Tina and Tammy performed a very good RELAXATION massage the first time I got under their hands. So, I can tell you that my first experience was nice, but not outstanding. I tipped them well(about $ 15), in part because I know that is a sing of appreciation to your masseuse, but also as an incentive for them to treat me good the next time. My massages have only gotten better and better under TAMMY’s hands. Now I truly trust that she will explore my body and screen the tension in my muscles. She always get the right spots. The first time I came to her I was really in pain. In my right side, the tissue(muscle) in my lower back and middle back felt completely clogged and encrusted into my hip bone, ribs and spine. My left hip was starting to hurt too. I was having a hard time getting up after being sitting for a long time, and bending forward was also very painful(basically I was unable to without rolling to the side). Sure, I didn’t feel that my issues were solved in my first session. It is unrealistic to expect that everything to be solved in one session. So, I’ve been coming back every other week(and weekly when time and money affords). With the help of my massages and yoga, my lower back pain is gone. As my body becomes more balance and my muscles more toned and«in place», other smaller issues have emerged. But that is a good sign. My upper back, below the scapula, shoulder, and my right arm now feel a bit odd, but I’m pretty sure they are also getting little by little re-align. Interestingly, as my body has changed TAMMY has also changed the focus of her massages. She now knows better my body and treats it as it most needs it. The last massage I got from her was yesterday evening(after my yoga class). She did an EXCELLENT job, both relaxing and therapeutic. She now and then surprises me with some random hot stone work. Yesterday, it was on my trapezius(from upper part of scapula all the way up to the neck). It was really so soothing! I forgot to tell you that(she doesn’t know but) I’m also a massage therapist. So let me tell you some things about technique. TAMMY does great vibration, compression, swedish like work. Her pressure varies as she adapts to my muscles from soft to very firm pressure. She does some more detailed work(similar but not quite deep tissue) in certain areas, like my spine, levator scapula and neck. She can also do very good stretches and she knows very well how to safely«stretch» the spine Her practice is very holistic, and yet she can address specific areas. My feedback to TAMMY: try to listen a bit more first time customers. They may want focus work, or perhaps specific type of work(e.g., deep tissue). That may help with the guess work. My suggestion for you as a customer: TRYHER, if you do not get your dreamed massage but find her still good for you, TIP her well($ 10 or 15 plus), and keep on coming back. She will get better and better. Just so that you know: $ 10 tip for a 1 hour massage is decent. $ 15 dollar is good. $ 20+ is very good or excellent. I’ve been leaving $ 20. Have in mind that the price of the massage is $ 48 and your masseuse is prolly not getting even half of that. Be considerate to your masseuse, they work hard and deserve to be rewarded. Out of self interest, the better the tip, the better the service you will receive in future visits. About the place: its very clean, roomy, decoration is simple but has its own character. There is always soothing music. The massage tables are wide. The oil tends to be warm. They also use hot towels. Yes, the lady at the front may want to offer you other services. Perhaps that is not the greatest marketing strategy for some, but don’t mind her. She is just trying to keep on her business working. I’m actually considering giving a chance to the pedi/mani, waxing and hair cut services. I’ll probably write an updated review whenever that happen. Meanwhile, I’ll keep on listen to her and thinking about it.
