Worst service long wait(45min) I ordered BBQ chicken over rice, when the food came it was chicken with curry sauce(chicken breast was dry)

The service is very friendly and they’re great about filling up your water! The menu was confusing and poorly organized(two salad sections/two soup sections). The pad see ew was delicious. Not sure why their soup is so expensive though.

Flavorful, but only because the food is drenched in sodium. It is unlikely that I will return for a second round. I downed 2 liters of water post meal consumption and still felt like a puffer fish 12 hours after the fact.

We have been going to Bangkok cuisine for at least 10 years. At one time it was great; Dishes had lovely taste combinations, balanced and fresh. A couple years ago, they did an update of the interior and the food has gone downhill since. First time we noticed was when we were dining in, waitress seemed overwhelmed at best and frankly incompetent. Ok, so we figured it was just a new employee. Since then we tried twice to do take out. This was the last time. Ordered and paid for rice, not in order. Came home to make our own. Ordered angel wings, got fish cakes. Ordered coconut chicken soup, smelled foul and the chicken was cooked to jerky. Green curry was barely edible, WAY too much basil. I don’t know what happened but I know we are NOT coming back again. Too bad.

Awful. Slow and rude customer service, they acted like we weren’t even there. The one(and only) waitress that was on staff chatted(loudly) on the phone for what had to be 15 minutes before finally coming over to take our order. Clearly there is a reason no one else was there on a Thursday night. Will not be returning.

We came here on a Saturday night because Siam Royal was packed, when we got here we were excited because we saw a bunch of empty tables. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated immediately. Now, we’re not noobs when it comes to Thai food having had to walk from Siam Royal to this restaurant, we knew what we wanted and was ready to order but our waiter was MIA. Ten mins later, she came with water and while she was putting our water on the table I told her that we’re ready to order… she seemed excited and she said that she will be back… so while waiting, we saw a bunch of people get up and complain about not receiving their food yet, we figured they were busy and decided to stay, after all she said she will be back… half an hour later she has not returned yet and taken our order, I guess half an hour was my limit so we decided to leave… oh yeah, there was a line of people who I guess placed an order on line, and we’re waiting for their food… they must’ve the best thai food in the bay area but number one rule in customer service, YOUDON’T MAKETHEMWAIT!

First time trying this place. It was convenient to order online and set the time of your pick up, which was nice. The place itself is small, very cute, nothing fancy. The lady greeted me nicely and offered me water even though I was just picking up my order. I ordered the House Special Fried rice and it was blah. There were only 2 pieces of shrimp… and granted they were extra large but that’s just not enough. Bunch of chicken pieces mixed with green peas, onions but not much else. House special usually means there’s a little of everything, but this one didn’t. It didn’t taste bad or anything, I would most likely not order it again. I would still give this place another chance and get one of their classic dishes instead. The prices are above average, but it’s Palo Alto, so that’s standard around here. Hopefully I can enjoy the food next time…

3.5 stars for food, 1.5 for service. Guess I’m feeling half generous today. Bangkok Cuisine is one of the better options for Thai food in Palo Alto. Prices are also very reasonable for the area. If only the service were halfway decent… I walked out on my first visit because it was beyond difficult to communicate my order to the cook would couldn’t understand English. Pointing somehow didn’t work either. Guess the server was off duty. Months later, we were looking for a quick takeout option and ironically ordered from Bangkok Cuisine without remembering the name. You should have seen my face when I walked into the place! Deja Vu and &$%#! Surprise, surprise, the lady working the register said they didn’t get my Eat24 order. I shut off and tell A to deal with this. He proceeds to start a new order, so I intervene and insist they locate the order. Gotta protect my prepaid food you know. Mom taught me well. The lady finally finds the order. Okay breathe. Minutes later she realizes they are out of eggplant. Breathe. I find a substitute entrée. Food takes about 30 minutes to come out. We hightail it out of there, promising never again. I get home and eat. Hmm, they just redeemed themselves a bit. Roti was great with the two dipping sauces — peanut and sweet cucumber. Bean Thread Noodle Salad had a wonderful sweet tangy flavor and good heat. They actually used jumbo shrimp too, not the crappy tiny ones. The Pad Kee Mao was okay, but not extra spicy as requested. I might just give them another shot after all… when I’m feeling extra patient.

If I could give them less than one star, I would. We placed an order for pickup through EAT24, and we received notification after waiting 20 minutes that EAT24 could not get in touch with the restaurant. I called the restaurant myself, where it went straight to a voicemail. After waiting another 5 minutes, I drove over to the restaurant. They had no idea that an order had been placed through EAT24, even though there have a clearly delineated spot in their restaurant for picking up EAT24 orders. The woman told me it would be 15 more minutes, on top of the 25 that I already waited. It would be another 30 minutes before she even acknowledged to me that my food was ready. EAT24 consulted with us numerous times about the status of our order, and they relayed that they attempted to call the owner of the restaurant through a separate contact number where, again, a voicemail was reached. I live less than a mile from this restaurant and I would never, ever go there ever again nor would I recommend them to anyone. I haven’t even tasted the food, for which I waited almost an hour for, but I have no intention on turning back on any of my comments above. By far the worst customer service experience in any restaurant I have visited.

Little hidden place off university ave. Price is 10−20% lower than a restaurant on University Ave. Loves the soft shell crab dish!!! Tried with several different curries, and all are very tasty.

This is based on one takeout order for lunch. I placed the order online for pickup at 11:10am and arrived at 11:05. I was told it would take about 10 minutes but it actually took 15(10 minutes later than the order), even though there were no customers in the restaurant. If you can’t prepare a lunch before 11:20, please don’t accept an order for 11:10. If that was the only problem this would be a 3 star review, but the«tofu mixed vegetables» contained zero tofu that I could find. The chicken green curry was reasonably tasty, however.

I’ve eaten here numerous times over the past month since starting work in Palo Alto. This is by far the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The staff is rude, strange, and inattentive. They almost always get my very simple order wrong and leave me stranded at my table waiting to order, refills, the check etc. The meat(whether chicken, beef, or pork) in the noodle soup is rubbery and tastes like it is freezer burnt. Never going back.

How this place is 3.5 stars is beyond me. They don’t serve beer?! The place is a dump. Old furniture, peeling paint. Smells bad. The carpet in the corner where I sat actually smelled urine-y. The menu was sticky and smelled like my grandma’s house, and she was a smoker. Despite the issues above, the only saving grace from a 1-star for this place is that our food was really good and the servers were friendly. Green curry and spicy basil chicken. Yum. However it was hard to enjoy the flavor given all the other odors wafting around this place. If you must try it… Go for takeout.

This place is close to home, so I wanted to like it, but this last visit was so disappointing that I will definitely not be returning. The Tom yum soup was flavorful(and spicy) but only four shrimp and some weird silky mushrooms, no tomatoes or anything else in the broth. Then we ordered the house curry MILD and pad Thai chicken. The«mild» house curry was SOSPICY — I am not afraid of a little heat and never have to specify mildness at other restaurants but wow. The waitress, who I believe did not mean disrespect, straight up laughed at me and told me my face was red. When I later asked for more water, she giggled some more and again pointed out that I was red in the face. Not exactly what I want to hear when out to dinner with my boyfriend, though the few heads of sweat on his face made me feel better. The Pad Thai was pretty bad too — strangely yellow and just noodles, hardly any chicken or peanuts.

This is my personal reminder never to come back here. Just in case I forget and crave thai food again from somewhere in PA. Seriously? How does this place have 3.5 stars? Is Unilocal screening out their negative reviews? I ordered via Order Ahead tonight — had to bring food over to my sister’s and thought that this might be a decent place based on the photos I saw. Why does the food in these photos look NOTHING like what I got? Granted, I got take out… but srsly? Pad Thai: Ordered beef, got chicken. Whatever. But there was literally only rice noodles, a few bean sprouts, and chicken in the pad thai. And it was bright yellow and overdone(a little mealy/pastey/clumped together), instead of a golden brown and al dente, like I’d expect. Taste? Bland as hell. WHATTHEEFF. It was simple enough so we ate it, but I’ve never had Pad Thai so half assed in my life. Oh and the chicken was dry and there had to be like a quarter cup of chicken in the entire dish. It was like… they were low on chicken and trying to cut the pieces extra thin and extra small. Pad See Ew: This came out a little better, but again. light on the ingredients. This time they got the broccoli right, but I had asked for extra. Good thing I did, because I can’t imagine what I would have gotten had I not asked for more. 1 piece? 2? Broccoli garnish? Catfish stirfy w/veggies: Someone’s photo on Unilocal made this dish look SOGOOD. I blame you for my wasting $ 15 on this dish. I ordered it mild(for the baby) and it def came with medium heat. Enough that I drank a ton of water — and I LOVE spicy. Catfish was like reheated from a previous meal. The meat was dry as cardboard. Not even plump like freshly unfrozen fish filets. But like straight up dried fish, fried, and doused in sauce so that people won’t notice. I should have known better. Rice wasn’t even right. This place isn’t right.

Food: 3.5 Stars Service: 2.75 Stars Roti Prata — Great dish; kids love it Papaya Salad — Lacked flavor Pad Thai — Ok; edible Green Curry Chicken — Decent; but never asked us how spicy we wanted it Chicken Skewers — Good Came here on a Saturday night so the place was busy… only it wasn’t because it was busy with dine-in patrons. We made reservations and showed up early. They were able to get us seated but the place was a total madhouse. The # of pick-up orders and delivery people coming in and out picking up food for others was more than 2 – 3 times the # of dine-in patrons. Seeing this, one would think we hit the jackpot for Thai food in the area. Unfortunately, those pick-up orders were detrimental to their service and attention to the dine-in patrons. It took nearly 30 minutes just get our water and have someone take our order. If it weren’t for the fact that we were there with friends we hadn’t seen in awhile, we would have likely walked out and gone somewhere else to pick up some food. It’s hard to rate the food here since it was neither the best or worst Thai food we’ve had. With so many orders going out, I’m going to err on the side that the food here is actually decent. However, going out to dinner should be an enjoyable experience and I can’t see myself coming back here. With so many choices in the bay area, this is a pass. Hopefully the ownership figures this

I used to frequent this restaurant about 3 times a month last year when I was still living in Stanford. It was my favorite thai restaurant. The dishes were flavorful and service was excellent. Sadly, I moved away and had to make a special trip because I could not find another thai restaurant to match. However, my trip was in vain. Total disappointment. I haven’t checked up on the details but it seems that the restaurant has changed hands. The dishes did not have the same mouthwatering bold favors. The place was chaotic. There were 2 waitresses and both were frantic even though there were only 3 tables and 1 to-go order. Our side of white rice came out after our main course was finished and they completely forgot about our drink order. When I brought it to their attention they promptly removed it but did not apologize. It was quite disappointing and I will not be returning.

I have a checklist of criteria a good restaurant has to meet so that I can call it authentic. Let’s apply them to Bangkok Cuisine. Typos in the menu. Check. Waiters don’t speak English. Check. Small restaurant. Check. Looks and feels run-down and dirty. Check. Food tastes amazing. Nope. The food is not great, I can name a lot of other Thai restaurants that deliver much, much better food. The service was really abysmal — we had to ask whether we can finally order food, then we had to ask again to get the food that we ordered and he forgot to bring and then we had to go to the counter to pay, because he didn’t get our credit cards. For God’s sake guys, if you are struggling during lunch hours and do not want to hire additional waiters, just open a lunch buffet. I guarantee that you will have much more satisfied customers.

My favorite Thai dish of all time is Thai Spicy Mango Salad, and fortunately for me, Bangkok Cuisine has it on the menu. Well, minus the spicy part. Their version is more sweet than spicy. Nevertheless, it’s still refreshing and delicious. They have it listed on the menu as Mango Salad with Prawns, but I get it with fried tofu instead. The rest of their menu states that most entrees can be ordered vegetarian, so if you’re looking for a meat-free option, don’t hesitate to ask. Prices are reasonable for lunch, with most options coming in at less than $ 10. While I still prefer the Mango Salad at Amarin Thai in Mountain View, Bangkok Cuisine comes in at a close second. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
